FRUITY FRIDAY : JAMBU KRISTAL

These fruits were gift from my friend.

We call it 'Jambu Kristal' or crystal guava.

This is a kind of seedless guava.
Although we can find a small amount of seeds inside.

The taste is so sweet and the texture is so crispy.
A bit like as green apple.

Thanks friend for the gift...

EASTERN BACKYARD ON SEPTEMBER

This was my eastern backyard on July...

Too much shade here.
Some trees grew taller and taller, but they were not productive.

Then I cut down them on August, and this space looked brighter, more sunshine...
So I can grow so many vegetables here.

The  Kara bean (Phaseolus lunatus) grow so healthy here.

Pandan leaves on the corner, and a little pumpkin seedling on the edge of the poor raised bed.

There are three new pepper (Piper nigrum) vines.

Some climbers looks so thrive.

These are the climbers closer.

The white jasmine is showing me its flower buds.

Another variety of Kara bean.

The Jeruk purut (Citrus hystrix) finally 'green' again with its leaves.

The edible alocasia looks so healthy.

The sirih (Piper betel) is climbing so high and looks so poor in this dry season.

Row of eggplants and celery pots.

A pot of little guava tree is growing better right now.
Actually it  was  tough for me to lose some plants that I loved.
There's always a bright side in each decision...

FLOWER BUDS FROM A NEGLECTED GUAVA TREE

What do you think if you find your neglected thing give you a surprise?

Yes, I'm finding some flower buds on my little guava tree.
That's a new hope after long wait.

The last time I found both of flowers and fruits were about three years ago.
I guess, I put it on the wrong place, too much shade...
But after I cut down my Hibiscus, some plants under it grow much better.
Lots of expectation from this patch.

I hope they will grow so well, no fallen flowers...
And I can pick some guava fruits from my little tree...

I wish...

COVERING THE POT WITH EPISCIA

I love foliage to decorate my home garden.
The limited land in my home garden make me think hardly to grow my collection.
I have to 'think smart' on gardening.

I grow little guava tree in a big pot on my front porch.
There are space remain on this pot.
So, I grow Episcia to fill the empty space.
This plant is short rooted, so... I'm sure it will not interfere the growth of the main plant.
Look .... no space wasted.
I can pick the fruit and also enjoy the beauty of the foliage.

WEEKLY HARVEST - FEBRUARY 2015

Not too much...
Just a small amount of fruits and vegetables from my garden this week.
I picked three star fruits, so fresh and sweet...
Some of ripen  mini guavas still produced from my little tree.
Lot of mini habanero for this week, but just a few chili peppers.

I picked some red Dewandaru or vermillion cherry almost everyday.
That's so nice to enjoy the sweet and tender flesh.

Bayam hijau or green amaranth is my son's favorite vegetables.
He really loves amaranth soup.
Never stop growing this vegetables on my garden.

There are Daun talas (colocasia leaves), kara leaves, and Som Jawa, that still stored on the fridge.
Green onion is most frequently harvested.
Almost everyday we pick it from my garden.
Thanks GOD for this blessing.

FRUITY FRIDAY : MINI GUAVA - WHITE FLESH

Look my front yard...
A row of my fruity collection stand on here.
There are lime, orange, jack fruit, kedondong (Spondias sp), dewandaru, guava-red and mini guava - white.

Something that makes me so happy is my little mini guava.
I'm finding some pale yellow guavas on the little tree.

I guess they are already ripen.
So, it's harvest time..

I'm getting five little guavas.
This is the first time this plant bearing ripen fruits.

I think we all still remember with my mini guava.
We can see the flowering time here.
Actually there are a lot of little fruits on the tree, but most of them were fallen down onto the ground.

Now, the healthy fruits are ripen.
I'm so happy that these fruits are really healthy, no fruit fly attack.
Look the white flesh, so tender and so sweet...

I have ever grown the red flesh variety, but the tree have died when I moved it from my front yard into  my back yard.
I think I should look for the red flesh variety to complete my collection.
Lets taste the fruit...

NEW FRUIT-PLANT COLLECTIONS

Last Sunday we visited my Father's house in my home town.
And I had more time, so I visited traditional market just for window shopping.
I bought some traditional snacks for my children, yes... special snacks.
I was so lucky, I met a nursery man that almost everyday sold so various plants on this morning market.
I took a look some interesting plants to add my collection.

Then I took home several little trees to be grown as potted plants.
There were mini guava, variegated mini guava, calamondine and kefir lime, and also I got a bonus a rose plant.

This is my mini guava (Psidium guajava).
Look... there are some flower buds among the leaves.

And this one is variegated mini guava...

I also bought calamondine or acid orange (Citrofortunella sp) to substitute my old collection that have died caused by downy mildew.
All plants have planted on the pots yesterday, and I hope they will grow so well in my garden.

FRUITY FRIDAY : JAMBU BIJI GETAS MERAH

Every Friday, we usually do outdoor activities; sports, walking, bicycling, gardening and many more.
Last Friday me with six of my friends went to Seedling Division Department of Forestry and Plantation.

We walked in the nursery and collected some fruits and vegetables there.

Look... the guava trees were so plentiful.
There were a lot of fruits on the trees.
Hanging here and there.

We picked a lot of fruits...
This was Jambu Getas Merah (Red Guava 'Getas').
Look the fruits that we got...

The picture above only a portion of which we quote.

We each took home some guavas.

Look the guavas that I took home...
I shared the guavas with my friend.
I got a fruit supplies for a week.
