TERRACE GARDEN UPDATE : FEBRUARY 2017

This month, our terrace garden has no interesting progress.
Lots of rain and I mostly went home lately, made I only have limited time to do garden chores.
These are the pictures of the terrace garden this February.

The north side is for Brassica and long pepper.
Lowest row is for long hot pepper.
Then a row of cauliflower above the lowest row.
Two rows of red cabbages look better than before.
The highest row is for broccoli, and the little curd.s have already formed.

The east side is for broccoli and tomato.

And the center row is for tomatoes, paprika, zucchinis and cabbage.

The south side is for striped amaranth, red cabbage, strawberry and lettuce 'Pointed  Leaf'.

I let the morning glory grows among the cabbages.

The last is west side.
We put mini pakcoy 'Nai Bai' and red pakcoy on the highest row.

The lower row is for Kailan 'Winsa', garlic chives and green pakcoy.
Under the second row, we put a row pakcoy white.

This pakcoy was moved from the balcony two weeks ago, and they look much better here.
The lowest row is for cauliflower.

Bitter gourd or pare is growing so lush here, climbing on the wire on the west side.
Hoping they will grow better and productive.

OUR EASTERN BALCONY THIS WEEK

This is our balcony this week.

Last week we have harvested 'kangkung' (Ipomea aquatica) from the gutters.

Caisin is growing jostling with the kangkung.

The vertical rack is still full of mint.

The mint leaves look so fresh.

The row of chives and white pokcoy looks so lush.

It seems no bugs visiting.

So fresh...

So green...

The white chive flower is so beautiful.

A pot of Philodendron and fern 'Suplir' are growing beautifully on the corner.

It's a view our balcony from the terrace garden.
Four Queen of the Night flowers still blooming in this early morning.
Beautiful...

GARDENING ON THE BALCONY : NOVEMBER 2016

This month, I put broccoli and garlic chive in our eastern balcony.

Both of the veggies is in a row.

There were four pots of broccoli.
Little caisin seedlings under the broccoli.

This space get enough sunshine in the morning.
So, it's great for their growth.

On the vertical rack I put three pots of mint.

And I put a pot of Anthurium, some  pots of mints.

We also grow  kangkung, poor red lettuces and chinese bokcoys in gutters here.

I hope they will grow well and productive.

THE PROGRESS OF THE DRYING AREA

This is a view of the edge of our drying area this week.

We have harvested some edible weed from this patch.

We have moved the strawberry pots into terrace garden to get more sunshine.
And we put the garlic chives or Kucai here.

This patch is on part shady area.
Chives is more tolerant to the shady place than strawberry.
You can see the patch last month here.

The mustard green have grown bigger.

Some of them have get flowered.
We have to work hardly to move the plants here and there to get the sunshine.

SHORT COURSE ON OPTIMIZING HOME GARDEN : PART 3

A simple garden tour after we visited the hatchery.
We visited a local farmer community that make all space around their house as a productive garden and give more income for their family.
When we walked along the road, we found lots of kucai or garlic chives that grown on the garden or along the roadside.

Looks so healthy, so fresh...

The chives were grown on the ground and also plastic bag.

So productive...

Every two or three weeks, each plant will be cut, I mean harvested, and then sold.

We can find garlic chives in every home garden there.

Lots of money, from a little garden.
