The last one

I've never written this blog as if no-one was reading it, although of course when I first started no-one was reading it as no-one knew about it.  I was trying to remember the exact reasons I started it, and I think the number one was to document our move to Cyprus,   I can't imagine that I would have thought anything else would have been worth reading but that would have been interesting,  I'd have certainly enjoyed reading someone else's story, and have done many times.

I also thought it would be something to do, and a great thing to look back on,  I realised it was an important point in my life,  new Mum and moving abroad.  I was right, I do enjoy occasionally looking back over old posts,  some I hate but overall I'm pretty proud of my blog.

I do miss it, and considered many times stopping and taking it offline.  I never wanted to officially end it though and so always left it here just in case.

Back in November 2022 I wrote a few posts,  as tends to happen I suddenly get the urge and fire a few off in rapid succession before remembering why I stopped previously.

Originally I shared the blog with a few people,  my thoughts being that it was easier than updating everyone individually by email with what we were up to. Didn't even have a smartphone then!

Over the years my followers increased and after writing for a local magazine for several years many of them were friends / neighbours etc.  It made it a lot harder to write like nobody was reading,  it's not the same when you imagine that it's basically the equivalent of walking into your local pub and just shouting out all your thoughts,   of course not everyone will be there, or even be listening but it's still out there for them to find!

My last post was in tribute to my mother in law,   and that of course was a hard post to follow so I just left it until inspiration struck me.   That of course was now well over a year ago and for the first time I didn't post a single thing in a whole year!

It's been a long time since I was 'knee deep in nappies and train tracks'
(btw, I have had a post in draft for over 2 years with that title- I never got round to writing it but I thought it was a great title)     and so 'Mummy blogging' doesn't sit as well.  Of course it's also changed a hell of a lot over the years..... back in my day it was all fields round here, weekly memes (in the orginal sense of the word)  link parties and Tiktok, even instagram wasn't even a thing.

So after realizing I'm now an internet relic, I'll end here.   Maybe I'll be blogging elsewhere, who knows, but next time I'll leave the social media promoting and all that malarky and be a little bit quieter!
