Smoky look - with glasses!

Lots of Urban Decay Zero, blended out with Urban Decay Shag. For this, I used my E.L.F. eyelash curler before my mascara, which is lashblast by CoverGirl. My lashes curl a little naturally, so I almost never curl them if I'm wearing my contacts. On glasses days, I do curl my lashes if I'm also wearing mascara because it bends the lashes away from my glasses lenses and helps avoid those streaks that can mess up my vision. Lips - Milani Lip Flash crayon in 03

Evil Shades Wyvern vs. Zombie

From a while ago:

Evil Shades Wyvern on inner part of lids, Evil Shades Eplefe on outer part of lids, Evil Shades Zombie in outer V and crease. Wyvern vs. Zombie. SyFy - are you listening?

Look at me! I'm making a face! I think I'm wearing Evil Shades Primrose Path lipstick here.

Taking good pictures of myself is hard.

This is Silk Naturals shadow in 4Matic, which I got as a sample baggie free with an order a while back. I mentioned it in my May Used It post a few days ago, and wanted to elaborate my thoughts on this color.

It's from the Fall 2011 collection, and it's described as a "light champagne color with just a hint of green." I like it. It definitely needs a primer to pop - it's very sheer without one. Here, I'm wearing it over Silk Naturals Stick'Em primer. It has sparkle and sheen, and I thought it worked really nicely. I'd buy it if I didn't already own a truckload of neutrals.

A lot of SN's colors are unique enough that I don't feel the need to combine them with other shades into looks - so all I did here was a winged brown liner (if you must know, Tarte's Aqua-gel brown eyeliner and Physicians Formula Eye Booster™ 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Felt-Tip Eyeliner + Serum, also in brown). Honestly, any liquid liner you like and get precise results with would work here. I could have saved myself a lot of time by skipping the Tarte. I think I'm wearing CoverGirl LashBlast mascara here, but I could be very wrong about that.

Anyway, this is something easy you can do for work or a casual around-town sort of day. You could easily ramp it up a notch for evening with either a darker color in the crease or a colored liner above the brown.

Nails of the Moment, and Face of the Day!

Brought to you by my webcam from my favorite café, where I am trying but failing to work on a lesson plan.

Nails - 3-4 coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Lavender Cloud. Sticking to professional colors in the meantime, and this was only two bucks at the CVS clearance sale. I purposely did not use a base or top coat because I wanted to see how long it lasted on its own.

Face: Frankenprimer, Frankenfoundation mixed with Aromaleigh Divine Radiance in Magnolia Blossom, Tarte Park Avenue Princess bronzer

Eyes: Lumene eye base, some sticky concealer, Aromaleigh heels on fire on lid, same color mixed with Brazen Cosmetics Jinx in crease and to line. Cover Girl Lash Blast (red tube) in some mostly black but with "silver shimmer" color.

Lips: Fyrinnae Lip Lustre - Puppy Love

Lazy smoky eye - one color of shadow needed

This is my first ever tutorial. I shot the pictures a few months ago, and they aren't the greatest, but they give the idea. Ok, the pictures kind of suck. And I also don't have most of these products anymore, but that doesn't matter, because it's more a technique than a look. So, anyway, here's the final result:

Step 1: Apply some sort of primer or base, according to your personal eyelid needs. Here, I'm using Urban Decay's cream shadow in Moonshine.

Step 2: Thickly line your upper lashline with the smeary black liner of your choice. I'm using the dark gray-black cream shadow stick from Wet N Wild.

Step 3: Smudge the line you just made so it blends into your base.

Step 4: Apply an eye shadow of your choice from lashline to just above your crease. I'm using some random gray I had around, before I swapped it away because I don't like how gray looks on me. This also works well with a nude sparkly color.

Step 4: Line your lashline with the non-smeary black liner of your choice. I either used the Milani Minerals liner pencil or one of my Physicians Formula black gel liners. Then I did my mascara.

The result was the pictures at the top.

Another FOTD - green and peach

This one is a couple months old.

I know the eye and lip stuff I used.

Eyes:
1. Lumene primer
2. Fyrinnae Nijiro in tear duct and to highlight
3. SN Superfly on lid
4. Aromaleigh greenbrier on outer V
5. UD Mildew to line
6. Lumene sensitive eyes mascara, blue.

Lips:
Hi-Fi Cosmetics Gin and Sin lip gloss.

Cheeks:
I'm pretty sure this is adorned with Grace's Radiant blush layered over SN's cream Devoted, but I could be wrong.

Old FOTD - plummy goodness

This is back from September, when DBF and I went out to dinner to celebrate eight years together. I don't remember what I used for foundation, but I do remember using Tarte Blushing Bride and awG Zealous on the cheeks, SN Black Dahlia on my lips, and the WnW Lust palette for the eyes. I also lined the lower lashline with the purple Cover Girl liquiline blast and the upper lashline with some black liner I don't remember anymore. I think I was wearing Lash Blast.

I was really disappointed with the color I used in the crease - it looked plummy and shimmery in the pan but transferred onto the lid black, and then refused to blend.

Oh well, it was a night full of good food, and I certainly enjoyed it.

EOTD - Aromaleigh Spring Solstice purples

I used:
Bellflower - inner lid
Ondberry - outer lid
Lupine - above the crease

I really like all the purples except Lupine, which is a bit too cool for me.

awG Remarkable - outer lid
awG Enigmatic - crease
Milani Infinite Eyes liner - Forever

EOTD - over the rainbow

I was inspired by two videos to do this look, the tutorial below I saw on YouTube, and the eyeliner videos Blix posted to her blog (http://themoonmaiden-blix.blogspot.com/2010/02/winged-eyeliner-tutorials.html):

Here it is: you can see that I went a little heavier on the green and blue and less heavy on the red than the original.

Products used:
Fyrinnae Shadow Primer all over lid and under lashline
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy all over lid and under lashline
TKB Trading Pops Micas (I've mixed mine with a bit of Fyrinnae Oil Control Powder for better adhesion)
-tangerine on inner third
-lemon drop on middle third
-green apple on outer third
-blueberry on outer V and under outer lower lashline
-grape in outer corner (just a little) and on middle lower lashline
-raspberry on inner lower lashline
-strawberry on inner crease
Silk Naturals Sonic to highlight
Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips for Blue Eyes liner - the black one
Gabriel Color Mascara in Black Brown - upper lashes only

Normally, I use two or three colors, not eight! But it was fun!

EOTD - matte bright blues

Recently, I wanted to recreate the look in my userpic - a matte blue look that I have a lot of fun with.

Products used:
Fyrinnae shadow primer
EDM Carpool on inner part of lid
Fyrinnae Looking Glass on middle and outer part of lid
Pure Luxe China Blue in crease
Pure Luxe Glory to line
SN Sonic to highlight
Gabriel Color mascara in black brown

What do you think? Tightlining might have made a big difference, but I wear contacts and my eyes are really sensitive, so I usually stay away from that.

EOTD - Silk Naturals neutral look

Here's a look I did a bit ago with Silk Naturals stuff. I wanted something neutral with a little bit of drama.

Products used:
Fyrinnae shadow primer
Silk Naturals Sonic to highlight and on inner third of lid.
Silk Naturals (GWP) Bubbly on outer two thirds of lid.
Silk Naturals (GWP) 9:59 in crease.
EDM Samba Lessons to line.
Gabriel Color mascara in black brown.

EOTD - bright green!

Here's a look I did with bright greens!

Products used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance (still working on that free sample!)
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy in outer part of lid
Silk Naturals Sonic as highlight
Silk Naturals Lime on inner lid
Fyrinnae We're All Mad Here on outer lid
Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita collection Divine Intervention mixed with Silk Naturals Mixing Medium on lower lashline and in outer crease.
Gabriel Color mascara in Black Brown.

This looked way better in daylight than it did in my bathroom - I really need to take better pics.

I'm still undecided on the mixing medium - it seems great for a sheer application, but I haven't been able to figure out how to make a brightly foiled color with it yet.

EOTD - New Year's Eve eyes

Just for fun, I took pictures of the eye look I did for New Year's Eve. I'm pretty proud of it as it's one of the fanciest looks I've done and it worked pretty nicely. Maybe it was too much for the small party with friends I went to, but both the eyes and the party were a lot of fun.

Eye open:

Eye closed:

Products used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance on entire lid (free sample from Sephora, woot!)
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy on lower lashline, lid, and just above the crease.
Meow ScandalEyes Traci L. on inner third of lid.
Fyrinnae Equality on outer two thirds of lid.
Fyrinnae Immortality as upper liner and above the outer crease.
Silk Naturals Sonic to highlight (I am almost out of this sample baggie!)
Meow VandalEyes Breaking and Entering to line lower lashline (I like this color but want to buy a green liquid liner instead of purchasing a full size - it migrated later in the day)
Gabriel Color Mascara in Black Brown.

I liked this because it was dramatic without being overpowering for my fair skin and it brought out my blue eyes.

What did you do for New Year's?

Aromaleigh mini-haul plus BONUS EOTD

I got my Aromaleigh micro-mini-haul the other day and finally have the pics uploaded!

I also did a very neutral eye look with some EDM stuff and a Meow sample.

So, the haul!

And, the swatches!
Top row: Gothic Lolita Burnt Roses; Gothic Lolita Divine Intervention; Rocks! Sonic planetearth.
Bottom row: Opulent Lustres Jasmine; Opulent Lustres Ginger; Opulent Lustres Tea; Rocks! Sonic lookingforakiss.

I also took pics of an eye look I did the other day. It's not flashy or anything, but it's the first eye look I've ever gotten good macros of. I did take care of the brows right after - they were a little overgrown.

Anyway, on the lid I have my mix of EDM's Opening Day blush and Pure Luxe's Awakening (a sparkly light green) shadow. Then, I used EDM's Shopping Spree in the crease, Meow's ScandalEyes Traci L. to highlight, lined with Wet n Wild creme liner in eggplant (probably returning to the store - I reacted to it a little), and Gabriel Color mascara in Black Brown. The crease color was darker than it looks.
