NOTD: Rose Among Thorns (Literally!)

Hello everyone =) Here is another Valentine's Day idea for you. I sat down to do my manicure with something completely different in my mind, and I came up with this manicure. I used China Glaze Cheers To You as my base color, then I added rose-shaped blobs in the corners using China Glaze Rose Among Thorns and my dotting tool. I drew the outlines & the thorns using black acrylic paint and a fine brush, finally I added some highlights using China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy.

Tabanda China Glaze Cheers To You kullandım, daha sonra China Glaze Rose Among Thorns kullanarak tırnakların köşelerine gülü andırabilecek şekiller çizdim. Bunu yaparken benek yapma aletini kullandım. 31 Day Challenge: Day 8

Today is Day 8, and it's time for METALLIC nails!
I finally caved. I bought Chanel Graphite. I managed to walk around many Chanels by finding their exact dupes, but this time Chanel managed to blow me away when I was least expecting it. =)
I prepared myself for the Peridot hype, I even found some dupes, but I didn't like it as much as I expected. But Graphite is the hidden star of the bunch. When I first tried it on my nails in Sephora, I fell in love and I just had to have it.
Chanel Graphite is a greenish gunmetal grey foil with gold particles here and there. The overall look is a warm medium grey foil. The different colored particles really give this polish an unique look. I received many compliments when I was wearing this yesterday. The following pictures are without a base or topcoat, and I experienced no chips and no tipwear for the two days I've been wearing this polish.

Oh, here is another thing I've got from Sephora. It's the new Too Faced Smokey Eye Palette. This palette is so awesome, it contains every eye shadow I would need for a day or night look. The quality is impressive, they blend very well and they go along so nicely together. For me, this is even more beautiful than the Urban Decay Naked Palette =) I know this is not polish related, but I haven't been buying make-up for a long time, and I felt so happy when I got my hands on such a gorgeous palette =)

Bugün 8. Gün ve METALİK tırnaklar ile karşınızdayım!
Sonunda pes ettim. Gittim ve Chanel Graphite'i aldım. Bugüne kadar birçok Chanel ojeyi bir şekilde almamayı başardım, çoğunun eşini ya da benzerini buldum. Ama Chanel hiç beklemediğim yerden attı golü =)
Ben aslında Peridot'a aşık olmayı beklemiştim, ama onun bire bir aynısını buldum hatta kendisini bile sürdüm ama beklediğim kadar beğenmedim. Bence Graphite Peridot'un gölgesinde kalsa da o koleksiyonun gizli yıldızı. Sephora'da onu tırnaklarıma ilk sürdüğüm an, ki Dilek şahit, "Aşık oldum!" dedim.
Chanel Graphite hafif yeşilimsi tonlu, kurşun grisi bir folyo oje, içinde altın rengi ve başka renklerde parçacıklar var. Uzaktan görünümü sıcak tonlu kurşun grisi gibi bir şey oluyor böylece. İçerdiği altın rengi başta olmak üzere değişik renkte parçacıklar, bu ojeyi benzerlerinden ayırıyor. Dün çok sayıda iltifat aldım, gerçekten çok güzel duruyor tırnakta. Altına bir şey sürmedim, üstünde de cila yok; ancak tırnağımda durduğu iki gün boyunca ne soyulma, ne uçlardan aşınma, hiçbir problem yaşamadım.
Fotoğraflara ojenin güzelliği tam yansımasa da bir fikriniz olmuştur umarım.
Bu arada ojeyle ilgisi yok ama, Sephora'dan bir ürün daha aldım. Too Faced Smokey Eye diye yeni bir palet çıkarmış, eskisiyle alakası yok. Palette 9 far var, ve farların kalitesi inanılmaz. Yumuşaklıkları ve birbirilerine geçişleri çok başarılı, üstelik hem gündüz, hem gece makyajı tek bir palet ile yapılabilir, renk seçimleri inanılmaz hoşuma gitti. Uzun bir zamandır makyaj malzemesi almıyordum, çok hoş bir değişiklik oldu. Bence bu palet Urban Decay Naked'den bile güzel =)

Review: Gabrini Diamond Collection

Hello my dear friends! Today I have a review that was waiting for me to post for more than a month now. Gabrini is a Turkish brand, who kindly sent me their Diamond Collection to review.

There are 20 polishes in this collection, with finishes like sparkle (similar to Zoya's sparkle finish), shimmer, foil and shimmer mixed with glitter.
I did four sets of skittles to display all 20 colors:

Thumb to pinky: D53, D57, D60, D50, D56

D53: Spring green with yellow shimmer. This one is my favorite from this bunch. It looks awesome in the sun, and it also contains some neon pigment. Two coats.
D57: Bright yellow shimmer. This one also contains neon pigment, because it glows under the black light. It's really bold and in-your-face bright. Three coats.
D60: Peachy tan shimmer with glitter. I don't really like glitter when it's sparse like this, it only adds up to difficulty of removal. Two coats.
D50: Pale pink sparkle. Very delicate color, this requires more than three coats to be opaque. Pictured is three coats.
D50: White sparkle. This one also requires more than three coats. Pictured is three coats.

Thumb to pinky: D65, D68, D62, D54, D69

D65: Medium cool green shimmer. Reminds me of the rind of a watermelon. Two coats.
D68: Bright fuchsia shimmer. This leans more purple than red. Two coats.
D62: Bright reddish pink sparkle. This is my favorite from this bunch. Two coats.
D54: Warm toned cherry red with gold shimmer. Two coats.
D69: Brown with bronze shimmer. This is a very fall appropriate color. Two coats.

Thumb to pinky: D61, D66, D52, D59, D51

D61: Bronze/brown with tonal shimmer. Very fall appropriate. Two coats.
D66: Cool, light pink foil. One of my favorites from the collection. Mom already used up half of this bottle. Two coats.
D52: Orange with sparse orange glitter. Again, I don't really like the glitter. Two coats.
D59: Strawberry pink sparkle. Two coats.
D51: Again, strawberry pink sparkle, a bit lighter and warmer than D59. Two coats.

Thumb to pinky: D55, D58, D63, D64, D67

D55: Bright, like, neon-bright pink sparkle. Very similar to Zoya Gilda. Two coats.
D58: Bright pink sparkle, only a tad darker than D55. Two coats.
D63: Gunmetal gray sparkle. This one is one of my favorites, it really reminds me of Chanel Graphite. Two coats.
D64: Denim blue shimmer. Two coats.
D67: Navy with strong blue and purple shimmer. I love this one, too. Not just your average navy shimmer. Two coats.

Altogether this collection provides a wide range of colors, appropriate for different times of the year. My personal favorites are D53, D62, D66, D59, D58, D63 and D67. Gabrini polishes retail for about 60¢ in my country. Sadly I don't have a clue about the availability of these polishes internationally, but I will update with information as soon as I have it.

Gabrini bana tanıtmam için Diamond koleksiyonu ojelerini yollamıştı, fakat araya tatil girdiği için bir türlü fırsatım olmamıştı. Bu koleksiyonda toplam 20 oje var, aralarında sedefli, ışıltılı, sedef ve sim karışık ve son olarak folyo olanlar var.

Baş parmaktan serçe parmağa: D53, D57, D60, D50, D56
D53: Sarı sedefli canlı yeşil oje. Bu elime sürdüğüm renklerden favorim. Güneşin altında muhteşem gözüküyor, ayrıca içinde biraz neon pigmenti de var. İki kat.
D57: Parlak sarı sedeflioje . Bunun da içinde neon pigmenti var, çünkü siyah ışık altında parlıyor. Oldukça canlı bir renk. Üç kat.
D60: Şeftali rengi, içinde simler olan sedefli oje. Böyle araya serpiştirilmiş sim pek sevmiyorum, sadece ojeyi çıkarmayı zorlaştırıyor. İki kat.
D50: Çok açık pembe ışıltılı oje. Çok zarif bir renk, yalnız opak olması için üç kattan fazla sürmek lazım. Burada üç kat.
D50: Beyaz ışıltılı oje. Yine üç kattan fazlasını gerektiriyor. Burada üç kat.

Baş parmaktan serçe parmağa: D65, D68, D62, D54, D69
D65: Orta koyulukta soğuk yeşil sedefli oje. Karpuz kabuğu rengine yakın. İki kat.
D68: Parlak fuşya sedefli oje. Kırmızıdan çok mora çalıyor. İki kat.
D62: Kırmızıya çalan parlak pembe ışıltılı oje. Bu resimdeki en sevdiğim oje. İki kat.
D54: Sıcak tonlu kiraz kırmızısı, içinde altın rengi ışıltılar var. İki kat.
D69: Bronz ışıltılı kahverengi oje. Sonbahar için çok uygun bir renk. İki kat.

Baş parmaktan serçe parmağa: D61, D66, D52, D59, D51
D61: Bronz kahver arası sedefli oje. Sonbahar için çok uygun. İki kat.
D66: Soğuk, açık pembe folyo oje. Bu koleksiyondaki favorilerimden biri. Annem şimdiden şişenin yarısını kullandı. İki kat.
D52: Turuncu simler içeren turuncu sedefli oje. Keşke simler olmasaydı. İki kat.
D59: Çilek pembesi ışılştılı oje. İki kat.
D51: Yine çilek pembesi bir ışıltılı oje, D59'a göre biraz daha açık ve sıcak bir renk. İki kat.

Baş parmaktan serçe parmağa: D55, D58, D63, D64, D67
D55: Neredeyse neon parlaklığında, pembe, ışıltılı oje. Zoya Gilda'ya çok benziyor. İki kat.
D58: Yine parlak pembe, ışıltılı bir oje; D55'in bir ton koyusu. İki kat.
D63: Metalik gri ışıltılı oje. Bu da favorilerimden, Chanel Graphite'i hatırlattı bana. İki kat.
D64: Jean mavisi sedefli oje. İki kat.
D67: Mavi ve mor ışıltılar içeren lacivert oje. Ben bunu da çok beğendim. Normalde sürdüğümüz sedefli lacivertlerden çok daha güzel bir oje. İki kat.

Bu koleksiyon bir çok birbirinden farklı yapıda ve renkte oje içeriyor, yılın değişik zamanları için uygun renkler var. Benim favorilerim D53, D62, D66, D59, D58, D63 ve D67 oldu. Gabrini ojeleri çeşitli kozmetik mağazalarında maksimum 1 TL'den satılıyor. Yurtdışında yaşayan arkadaşlarım için ne yazık ki nereden temin edilebilecekleri konusunda şu an yardımcı olamıyorum, fakat bilgi sahibi olduğumda bu yazıya ekleyeceğim.

Pink Wednesday: Neon Polka Dots

Hello guys =) I've been pretty busy recently, so I must have skipped, like, eleventeen Pink Wednesdays! =) This Wednesday I supported this manicure, but I never really had time to write a post about it. It somehow reminds me of Minx, so bright and cheerful, and also foil-like.
I started off by painting my nails with Alix Avien #231, which is similar to Orly Shine. Bright silver foil, and unlike chrome, it doesn't show brushstrokes. Then I took out my dotting tool & all my neon polishes. I used NOX Twilight Crush, China Glaze Pool Party, China Glaze Flip-Flop Fantasy, China Glaze Sun Worshipper, China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and Essie Bright Tights. I created diagonal lines using the smaller side of the dotting tool. I skipped topcoat, because matte dots over silver foil look pretty interesting.

You should see this one under a black light, it's soooo awesome! I almost hurt my eyes because I was so fascinated by the way it looks in the dark =) The picture below doesn't do the IRL version any justice:

I really recommend this look if you're going to a club or a place with a black light where you can enjoy a neon polish at its fullest!

Selam herkese =) Son zamanlarda bir türlü fırsat bulamıyorum yazı yazmaya, bu yüzden kaç pembe çarşamba atladım bilmiyorum, takip edemedim =) Bu çarşambadan beri tırnağımda bu manikür var, yazı yazmaya ancak fırsat bulabiliyorum. Evde Minx yapmış gibi hissediyorum, folyo üzerine bu kadar parlak renkler uygulayınca öyle geldi gözüme. =)
Önce tırnaklarıma Alix Avien #231 sürdüm, gümüş rengi folyo oje, muhteşem konad yapılıyor, düz sürünce de harika, tavsiye ederim. Daha sonra benek yapma aracı kullanarak neon ojelerimle noktalar koydum. Noktaları verev çizgiler oluşturacak şekilde yaptım ve bu şekilde tüm tırnağı kapladım. Kullandığım ojeler NOX Twilight Crush, China Glaze Pool Party, China Glaze Flip-Flop Fantasy, China Glaze Sun Worshipper, China Glaze Yellow Polka Dot Bikini ve Essie Bright Tights. Üstüne cila sürmedim, gümüş folyo üzerine mat noktaların görüntüsü hoşuma gitti...
Bu manikürü UV ışık altında görmeniz lazım, inanılmaz oluyor. Gözlerimi alamadım ve resmen gözlerim acıdı bakmaktan. Resimdeki hali gerçek halinin yanında hiç kalır, o derece parlak.
Eğer bir club ya da benzer UV ışık-mavi LED bulunan bir ortama gidecekseniz, bu tarz bir manikürü kesinlikle deneyin, çok hoşunuza gideceğinden eminim =)

From The Vault: Snow Cap

Hello everyone! This manicure is back from summer, for some reason I never published it here, maybe I thought it was too frosty for summer. Today I saw that it was being used here without permission, under the name "Nail Polish Trend 2011". Of course I was annoyed because the picture was cropped to hide my watermark and there was no source and no credit was given, but at least I remembered that I hadn't put up this manicure here, so it's not all bad =)
I used Golden Rose Paris polish in silver. Sorry, I lost that bottle and I can't give you the number, but it's a foil-like, neutral silver and I'm sure you'll be able to spot it. The tips were freehanded with white creme polish. They remind me of caps of snow on mountains, hence the title.




It's simple but pretty, I like it =)

Herkese merhaba =) Bu manikür aslında geçtiğimiz yazdan kalma, o aralar bana çok kış manikürü gibi görünmüştü, bu yüzden yayınlamamıştım. Sonra da unuttum, ta ki burada "2011 Oje Trendleri" adı altında kullanıldığını görene kadar. Tabi ki izin alınmadan kullanılmış, blogun ismi özenle kesilmiş ve hiçbir kaynak belirtilmemiş. Mesaj gönderdim ama faydası olur mu bilmiyorum. En azından unuttuğum bu manikürü hatırlayıp buraya koymuş oldum, %100 can sıkıcı değil yani =)
Golden Rose Paris gümüş rengi folyo görünümlü ojeyi kullanmıştım. Şişeyi kaybettiğim için numarasını size veremiyorum, ama tam bir gümüş rengi ve bu seride buna yakın renk yok, rahatlıkla gözünüze çarpacaktır. Tırnak uçlarını ise kireç beyazı oje ile boyadım. Bana dağ tepelerinde biriken karı hatırlattı beyaz kısımlar, hayal gücüm fazla çalışıyor galiba =)
Basit bir manikür ama krem beyaz ile gümüş folyo uyumlu oldu, kış için fikir arıyorsanız sade ama şık olabilir =)

NOTD: Purple Gala

I've been wanting to get my hands on this polish ever since it was released, and now I have it, yaay! =)))
Sally Hansen Purple Gala is a beautiful polish with a complex finish. It consists of equal amounts of gold and purple shimmer, and since purple and gold are complementary colors, the resulting polish is a grey foil with a purple undertone with unique golden shimmer running through it. It's absolutely gorgeous, I applied two coats in a hurry before meeting friends (while sitting on a bank outside!) and received so many compliments =) It dried fast, too!
I'm sure this polish will work with any skintone, because it's cool and warm at the same time. Sorry, I think I suck at describing polish sometimes =)




You might have heard that this polish is a dupe for Hard Candy Mr. Wrong. Well, they're not dupes but they're very, very close. Observe:


Sally Hansen Purple Gala on the left, and Hard Candy Mr. Wrong on the right. Mr. Wrong has a base which is more blue/less purple, and the gold shimmer is on the cooler side. Altogether it looks cooler, but I don't think anyone will notice the difference, unless they're a polish freak =) Oh, and Mr. Wrong needs 3 coats to be opaque.
Purple Gala is great for Fall and Winter, plus I think it's perfect for a night out all through the year =)

Sally Hansen Purple Gala çok güzel ve değişik bir oje. Eşit miktarlarda soluk mor ve altın rengi parçacıklardan oluşuyor, ve bunlar karşıt renkler olduğu için ortaya çıkan görüntü morumsu gri, altın rengi ışıltıya sahip, folyo bir oje. (Ojeleri Türkçe tarif etmek çok komik oluyor bu arada =) Sahip olduğum en güzel ojelerden biri bu. Arkadaşlarımla buluşmadan önce bankta otururken aceleyle iki kat sürdüm ve gerçekten ilgi çekti =) Bu arada çabuk kuruduğunu da belirteyim.
Bence bu oje her ten rengiyle çok güzel durur, çünkü aynı anda hem sıcak, hem de soğuk renkler içeriyor.
Bu arada bu rengin Hard Candy Mr. Wrong ile aynı olduğunu duymuş olabilirsiniz. Ben bir karşılaştırma yaptım. Aynı olmasalar bile çok çok yakınlar.
Solda Purple Gala ve sağda Mr. Wrong var. Mr Wrong genel olarak daha soğuk tonlarda, baz olarak maviye dönük ve içindeki altın rengi ışıltı daha soğuk. Ama birinin aradaki farkı anlayabileceğini pek sanmıyorum, tabi benim gibi manyak değillerse =)
Purple Gala sonbahar ve kış için çok uygun bir renk, ha bir de yıl boyunca gece çıkarken sürebileceğiniz çok güzel bir oje =) Bire bir aynı olmasa bile benzer bir renk bulursanız kaçırmayın, alın derim!

NOTD: Pink Foil

Hi everyone =) Thank you for the amazing response to my giveaway! I got about 200 entries in two days, which means you're awesome! =)
Today I have another local brand polish for you. Gabrini Elegant #393 is a warm pink foil, opaque in one coat, but not very suitable for Konad. Go figure =) This is two coats and it dries a bit slow. By the way, I haven't given up on my colordrops =) I can't really coordinate a color with a hex if it's too shiny/has too much going on. So I decided to go with colordrops when I'm showing a creme, shimmer or jelly polish.

This color reminds me of Zoya Gloria Tiffany in real life. I really like it on my skintone =)

Bugün Gabrini Elegant #393'ü göstereceğim. Bu, sıcak pembe, metalik bir oje. Tek katta opak oldu ama konad için pek uygun değil ne yazık ki. Tırnaklarımda iki kat var ve oldukça yavaş kurudu.
Bana Zoya'nın Tiffany isimli ojesini anımsatıyor. O da yakında elime geçerse bir karşılaştırma yapabilirim. Ben ten rengime yakıştırdım =)

Review: NOX Twilight - Wine & Dine

My NOX Twilight review continues with Wine & Dine.


Wine & Dine is a champagne/rose gold colored polish, with a foil-like finish. It's opaque in two coats and looks seriously amazing on the nails. Although I don't own Orly Rage from the FX Collection, I think they might be dupes, based on the pictures. The polish consists of small copper and silver particles, which altogether give the look of rose gold, and the finish is very reflective.
I applied two coats here, because the first coat went on a bit sheer, but the second coat built up very well. I didn't use a topcoat with it, because it can affect this particular finish in a bad way.


The application was easy, this polish a bit runny like Disco Darling, but it gave me no problems. It dried fast. I really like this polish on myself, and I've always wanted to have Orly Rage, so this is just amazing for me! =)



I've also tried Wine & Dine with konad, and it works just fine. Maybe a bit on the sheer side, but as you can see, definitely visible on black polish. (Sorry for the blurry pinky here =)
I recommend Wine & Dine to anyone who likes foily, metallic, Minx-like polishes! =)

Wine & Dine, pembe-altın arası, çok açık bakır rengi gibi bir renge sahip. Yapısı folyo dedikleri gibi, metalik ama içinde bol miktarda da metalik sedefler olduğu için sıradan metalik ojelere göre yansıtıcılığı çok fazla, fırça izlerini onlar kadar belli etmiyor ve çok daha güzel duruyor. İki katta opak oldu ve tırnakta çok çok güzel duruyor. Bende olmasa da, resimlerden gördüğüm kadarıyla Orly Rage ile neredeyse aynı olduklarını düşünüyorum. Bu oje küçük bakır rengi ve gümüş rengi parçacıklardan oluşuyor, bu yüzden genel görünüm pembe altın dedikleri renk.
Burada iki kat kullandım çünkü ilk kat biraz saydam kaldı, ama ikinci katta kendini toparladı. Üzerinde cila kullanmadım çünkü metalik/krom/folyo ojeler cila ile pek iyi anlaşamıyor.
Sürümü oldukça kolaydı, bu da Disco Darling gibi biraz sıvı yapıda, fakat sürerken problem yaratmadı ve çabuk kurudu. Ben bu ojeyi çok beğendim, çünkü Orly Rage'i uzun zamandır istiyordum ve bana gönderdikleri ojelerin arasında yer alması düşeş denk geldi =)
Wine & Dine'ı konad ile de denedim, ve oldukça güzel oldu. Belki olması gerektiği kadar opak değil, ama yine de siyah ojenin üzerinde görünür olması işe yaradığını anlamak için yeterli.
Wine & Dine'ı tırnaklarında metalik, sedefli, parlak oje seven ya da Minx yaptırmak isteyip bulamayan herkese tavsiye ederim =)

NOTD: Denim Nails

I got this polish by Selene a few days ago. Selene is made by Golden Rose, and the polishes come in teeny tiny 5 ml (0.17 fl.oz.) bottles. I had to have this shade because it reminded me of denim liquidized. It's a muted blue frost, definitely less bright than the pictures show, and it has blue and silver shimmer, which gives it a foil-like finish. The drying time is incredibly slow, like all Golden Rose shimmers. I used 3 coats for this manicure, but I could have gone with 2 if I was more careful.
Then I decided to konad over it. I used plates m16 and m22, with button and flower images. I love the flowers on m22, they look like they were cut from one fabric and stitched on another. I thought they would go perfect with the denim look. Finally I used dark blue rhinestones for some bling factor. The stamping polishes are random opaque ones, konad pastel purple and my lime konad franken.

I guess I should have added some matte topcoat over them to complete the look. Well, maybe tomorrow =)

Bu ojeyi birkaç gün önce Selene'den aldım. Selene Golden Rose'un yan ürünü, ve ojeler minicik 5 ml'lik şişelerde satılıyorlar. Bu rengi çok beğenerek aldım çünkü şişenin içinde jean kumaşı gibi duruyordu. Solgun, sedefli bir mavi, resimde gözüktüğünden daha bile soluk hatta, ve içinde mavi ve gümüş sedefler var. Bu yapıda ojeleri çok seviyorum, tırnakta metal gibi duruyor. Kuruma zamanı oldukça uzun, tıpkı Golden Rose'un diğer sedefli ojeleri gibi. Bu manikürde üç kat kullandım, ama dikkatli olsaydım iki kat bile yeterli olurdu.
Sonra üzerine konad uygulamaya karar verdim. M16 ve m22 disklerindeki desenleri kullandım. M22'deki çiçek desenini çok seviyorum, sanki kumaştan kesilmiş gibi bir görüntüsü var. Jean görünümündeki tırnakların üzerinde güzel duracaklarını düşündüm. Son olarak da koyu mavi süsleme taşları kullandım. Damga yaparken çeşitli pastel tonda ojeler kullandım.

DIY Lightbox, Some pictures from my stash & Last of my Valentine Manicures

Hi guys =) Here are the pictures of my Do-It-Yourself lightbox, "Crappier", and some pictures taken with it.





I played with some different camera settings and lamp positions, and I think it gets the job done. The setup was very easy, I bought a 27 watt Daylight lamp, which is 1500 lumens (The output looks like 140 watt) and used it with a adjustable table lamp. I extracted parts from the sides and from the top of the cardboard box, and covered the windows with sheets of paper. I covered the background with paper aswell and I was done. The whole setup took me about 30 minutes.

Now, here are some pictures of my storage, because some people wanted to see it =)

Then there are some random OPI, China Glaze, Illamasqua, Sally Hansen, P2 polishes.
