U-Paint Metal Crafts - Acanthus Leaf Scroll Cuff Bracelet with Tutorial

Hello everyone!  Today, I am excited to share my first U-Paint Metal Crafts® project with you.   If you are not familiar with UPMC I encourage you to visit their website.  They have over 300 U-Paint Metal Craft Kits to choose from.  The metal pieces are designed for all Designers, Artists, Makers, DIY Crafters/Hobbyists. The detail on the designs is amazing! The metal pieces can be used for mixed media, home decor, altered art, and even jewelry.  If you have been following my blog for any length of time you know I love to design jewelry.  So it shouldn't be any surprise that my first project is a jewelry piece--and I have to say I love how it turned out!  I also have a step-by-step tutorial to share with you.

Here is a look at the cuff bracelet I designed using a piece of the Acanthus Leaf Scroll Brass Deco - Trim U-Paint Metal Crafts®.  This leaf scroll design is so beautiful!
All supplies are listed and linked below.  :)

1)  To start, cut a piece of the Acanthus Leaf Scroll Brass Deco - Trim to the desired length.  The length will depend on the size of bracelet you would like to make.

2)  Using a metal file smooth the edges on each end of the metal trim piece.

3)  Then wash the metal piece with warm soap and water to remove any dust and oil.

4)  Using a Vintaj™ Filigree Shaping Pliers bend and shape the piece of metal trim to form the shape of the cuff bracelet.

5)  Use Krylon© White Matte Spray Paint to paint all sides of the bracelet.  Be sure to paint the edges too.  The backside of the bracelet will feel a little rough at first but with a couple coats of paint it smooths out.

6)  Using a sponge apply Tonic Studios© NUVO® Embellishment Mousse, 822N Pacific Teal and 807N Aquamarine.  If you haven't used the embellishment mousse before it is very easy to work with. It is smooth and creamy--kind of like whipped butter.  For the best coverage pounce the sponge onto the bracelet instead of trying to wipe it on.

7)  Set aside to dry or use a heat tool to speed up the drying time.  If you use a heat tool please be careful as the metal will become very hot.  So allow the piece some time to cool.

8)  Next, use a piece of Steel Wool Grade #0000 to sand and buff back the paint until some of the metal is revealed.  When working with steel wool you might want to wear a mask.  When sanding the steel wool creates a lot of tiny fibers.

9)  To add the glitter apply a small amount of Beacon Adhesives©, Gem-Tac™ using a Mini Applicator Disposable Adhesive Brush.  If you don't have one of these applicators you can use a small paint brush.  Just be sure to wash the brush right away so the adhesive doesn't dry.  Then sprinkle on some Tonic Studios© NUVO® Pure Sheen Glitter, 720N Champagne.  Whenever I used glitter I use a coffee filter to catch the excess and then it can easily be funneled back into the container.

10)  Set aside to dry.  If you end up with too much glitter in a certain area wait for the adhesive to dry and then gently rub off the excess glitter with your fingers.

11)  Use a toothpick to apply the Beacon Adhesives©, Dazzle Tac Jewelry Glue™ and then add the ButterBeeScraps, SS16 Aquamarine Flat Back Crystals.  Set aside to dry.

12)  For the final step, mix a small amount of ICE Resin®.  Mix ICE Resin® according to the instructions. Then use a brush to apply a thin layer of resin. Be sure not to add resin on top of the crystals, but you can apply it around the edges to secure the crystals even more.  Set aside on a ICE Resin® Studio Sheet to harden and cure.  Approximately 6-8 hours.

If you like to create jewelry this is a really great project and it would make a wonderful gift--for yourself or a friend.  The leafy scroll design is so beautiful!

This aqua blue color is very on trend right now.  I love all of the sparkle from the glitter and crystals.

I hope you enjoyed the step-by-step tutorial.  Don't forget to check out all of the fabulous metal pieces and kits in the U-Paint Metal Crafts® online store.  If you are an Amazon shopper some of the metal kits are also available there.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Heidi

ButterBeeScraps - Queen Tassel Necklace

Hello everyone!  Today, I am guest designing for ButterBeeScraps and I have a jewelry project to share with you.

I designed this necklace using one of the beautiful Bronze Round Metal Filigree Embellishments 744-B.  If you are new to jewelry making this is a very easy necklace to create.

I used one of the Small Round Glass Cabochons CAB018 and glossy accents to adhere a pretty digital image from ArtCult that I printed out.  Then, I glued the cabochon inside of the Small Bronze Round Cabochon Setting F018D-B.  Next, I used E6000 to adhere the cabochon setting to the Bronze Round Metal Filigree Embellishments 744-B.

The cabochon setting fits perfectly in the center of the round metal filigree.

I used glossy accents to adhere the SS20 Light Colorado Topaz Flat Back Glass Rhinestones and SS12 Light Colorado Topaz Flat Back Glass Rhinestones around the outside of the filigree.

To create the tassel I used different lengths of Textured Bronze Cable Chain (#CH521-B) and with jump rings I added the pieces of chain to the bottom of the filigree.  Then, I wire wrapped some tiny gold glass bicone beads and attached one on each of the bottom pieces of chain.

To finish off the necklace I added more bronze chain and jump rings with a lobster clasp.

If you like to create jewelry or work with metals I encourage you to check out ButterBeeScraps.  Monique, owner of ButterBeeScraps has such a wonderful selection.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi

ButterBeeScraps - Gold and Bronze Leaf Necklace

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all staying warm with this crazy winter weather that has been going on for the last week or so.  Just the other day I heard on the radio that the state of Florida was the only state that didn't have snow!

Today, I am excited to bring you another guest designer post for ButterBeeScraps.  I love being able to use all of the beautiful metal filigree pieces to create jewelry.

Here is a look at the necklace I designed.  I mixed the metals for this necklace using gold and bronze.  I used the Gold Leaf Metal Filigree Embellishment 672-G for the larger leaf and Bronze Leaf Metal Filigree Embellishments 670-B for the smaller bronze leaves.  The leaves are very pretty and I love the simplicity of them.

I used gold chain and jump rings to dangle the smaller bronze leaves and a wire wrapped beaded dangle.

To create the wire wrapped beaded dangle I used a Bronze Ball End Head PinsClear Rhinestone and Gold Rondelle Spacer Beads 8mm BD008-G/CLGold Filigree Bead Caps CAP857-G, a large Jesse James Bead, and a Topaz AB Bead.  The gold bead caps are so pretty.

I also added a couple of wire wrapped beaded spacers to the necklace.  I used all of the same supplies that were used to create the wire wrapped beaded dangle except for the bronze wire.

To finish off the necklace I added a couple more of the small bronze leaves.

The necklace is actually longer than what is shown in the pictures.  I pinned the necklace up on the necklace form to be able to get better photos of it.  The necklace is about 30". This would be a great jewelry piece to create for beginners.

I hope you enjoyed this jewelry share.  Please be sure to visit ButterBeeScraps blog for more inspiration from the design team.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Stay warm and happy creating!!

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi

Hello everyone!  Today, I am very excited to tell you that I am a Guest Designer for ButterBeeScaps.  I love using all of the beautiful metal filigrees, rhinestones, and jewelry findings to create jewelry.  So when Monique, owner of ButterBeeScraps, asked me if I would like to guest design I was happy to say yes! :)

Here is a look at the goodies I received.  I have been having so much fun creating with these beautiful pieces and I have several ideas already sketched out for future projects.

This is the pink rose and crystal cross necklace and earring set I created.  To start I added glossy accents to the floral image and then placed a Small Round GLASS Cabochons (#CAB018) on top and moved it around until I had it centered on the image.  Then, I set the piece aside to dry for a few minutes.  Once the piece was dry I turned it over to the back side and fussy cut the excess of the image from the cabochon.  Next, I added glossy accents to the back of the glass cabochon and placed it inside of the Small Bronze Round Cabochon Settings (#F018D-B).

I used E6000 to adhere the cabochon setting to the Bronze Decorative Cross Pendants (#J397-B).  This is such a pretty cross and it has a lot of detail.  To finish off the cross I added some SS16 Light Rose Flat Back Glass Rhinestones.  I added a couple of jump rings to the cross and then I added some chain and beaded spacers.

Here is a close up of the beaded spacers.  I used powder pink crystal beads and darker pink beads along with the Clear Rhinestone and Bronze Rondelle Spacer Beads – 6mm (#BD006-B/CL).  I thought the beaded spacers were pretty and would dress up the chain.

To create the earrings I used some of the Bronze Ball End Head PinsClear Rhinestone and Bronze Rondelle Spacer Beads – 6mm (#BD006-B/CL), and the same beads that were used for the necklace.  I also used the Bronze Ball End Head Pins along with the 1-Step Ear Wire Maker Tool to make the ear wires.

I hope you enjoyed today's jewelry projects.  If you like to make jewelry this would be a quick and easy jewelry project to make for a Christmas gift or any other occasion.

Pink Ink Stamps - On the Boardwalk

Hello everyone!  Today, is my day to post for Pink Ink Stamps and I have a fun summertime card to share with you using a couple of the Pink Ink Stamps.

To Start I stamped the On the Boardwalk image onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper with Ranger Jet Black Archival ink.  Then I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens to color all of the images. Some of the image were just colored with the pens and on some of them I did some blending of the color with water.  I used two different paint brushes for the blending--round 8 and liner 2.

After all of the images were colored then I did a little bit of shading at the bottom and I also colored the sky.  To achieve the look of clouds in the sky first I added the color and then I used a heat tool to speed up the drying time.  Next I added just plain water in the shape of a cloud in the sky.  I let the water sit for a few seconds and then I blotted the area with a paper towel.  Doing this pulled up the water in that area and leaving the appearance of a cloud.

I added some red and white twine and an ice cream cone charm which I thought would be a fun little embellishment and it worked perfectly for the summertime theme of the card.

I wanted to add some sparkle and dimension to the card so I went over some of the areas with the Zig Wink of Stella Clear Brush Pen.  Then I applied Glossy Accent to some of the images.  I also added the sentiment right under the boardwalk image.

I used two of the dies from the Tonic Studios Mixed Rectangles Layering Die Set to cut and emboss the two rectangle shapes.  I used scor-tape to apply white craft foam to the back of the image and give it a little dimension.  Then I adhered everything to a red A2 card base.

This is such a fun summertime image!  It would be great for a birthday card, a day at the carnival or just a fun summertime thinking of you card.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you are enjoying your summer and staying cool!

Heidi

ICE Resin® Tints Color Heart and Flower Necklace

Hello ICE Resin® Fans!
Today, I have a post up over on the ICE Resin® Blog.  To see more photos with a step-by-step tutorial and find out all of the details you can click HERE.

I have a tutorial to share with you using ICE Resin®, and some of the NEW ICE Resin® Tints.  The new tints are available in six different colors.  For my project I will be using four of the new tints.  I love to create jewelry and especially assemblage style jewelry.  I love to mix metals and now with the tints I can very easily add color to the metals.  I also used the ICED Enamels in Relique Ivory along with the ICED Enamels Medium on all of the metal pieces before adding the ICE Resin® with the tints.  I thought having the Relique Ivory background on all the metal pieces would give the tinted ICE Resin® a more vibrant look.  I also used one of the new Antique Bronze Heart Milan Bezels, Relique Glitz Gold Glitter, German Glass Glitter and Ranger Glossy Accents to add touches of glitz and glamour to the necklace.  I used a bronze base for the necklace and then also some leaves, a rose cabochon, some smaller metal pieces with flowers and leaves.  To finish of the necklace I added some AB flat back crystals.  I absolutely love how the necklace turned out!  It has a vintage glam look to it.

Supplies
Relique Glitz Gold Glitter

Other Supplies and Components for Necklace
ButterBeeScraps - Necklace Base, AB Flat Back Crystals
B'Sue Boutiques - Leaves, Small Flowers with Leaves

I had so much fun creating this necklace and working with the new ICE Tints!  I really hope you will give them a try--they can totally change up the look of your design work. Don't forget to check out the tutorial.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
