Spellbinders Diamond Anniversary: Sneak Peek and Giveaway - Day Two

Hello and Welcome! Today, I am excited about sharing some NEW Spellbinders Paper Arts® die templates from the Winter 2014 Diamond Anniversary release.  Not only will you have a chance to win the die templates I will be sharing with you but you will also have a chance to win the die templates being showcased on Candy Rosenberg's blog Living the Altered Life and Seth Apter's blog The Altered Page.  Be sure to  look at the end of the post for more details and instructions on how to enter the giveaway.

**Please Note: There is a clickable link at the bottom of this post for entering;
commenting on this post does NOT enter you into the giveaway.**

I am showcasing Spellbinders newest die templates S5-207 Labels Thirty-Eight and  S4-428 Feathers and I have created three projects to share with you using both sets of die templates.

Here is the shape card that I designed using S5-207 Labels Thirty-EightS4-428 Feathers.  I also used  S5-199 Font One Lowercase die templates.  I have a step-by-step photo tutorial to share with you.

To create the base for the shape card I started with a piece of bronze metallic cardstock 6-1/4" x 8-1/2"  and scored it at 4-1/4" and folded.  Using the largest die template in the set #7, I taped the cut edge of the die template off of the fold on the card base.  With the cut edge off of the fold it will not cut the paper in this area.

Next, using the same cardstock and die template cut/emboss the label shape.  Then I lightly sand the outer edges of the label shape to reveal the black core and make the embossed details really pop.

I applied EZ Runner® Permanent Strips-Refillable Dispenser 49' from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® and attached the two pieces together.

Now I have the base of the shape card.

For the word Dream I used the bronze metallic cardstock and S5-199 Font One Lowercase die templates.  Before die cutting I placed a piece of wax paper over the die templates and then I added the cardstock on top.  I like to use wax paper when I am using small or detailed die templates.  When doing this the die cuts will be very easy to remove from the template.

Next I lightly sanded the die cut letters.

To create the feather I used sky metallic cardstock and S4-428 Feathers.  I lightly sanded the feather to remove some of the sheen and get to the core of the paper.  Doing this allows me to apply ink to the metallic cardstock.  Then I inked the edges with Memento Teal Zeal ink from Imagine Crafts®/Tsukineko®.  When applying ink to the edges of paper I like to use a cotton ball in a circular motion for a soft even coverage.

For the second mat/layer of the card I used Champagne Metallic cardstock and the #6 die template in the S5-207 Labels Thirty-Eight set to cut/emboss the label shape.  Then I added 3D Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® to the backside of the die cut.

I added the die cut letters to the bottom of the label shape and then I added the feather.  I used 3D Foam Squares to pop up the the feather.  To finish off the card I added a few Aquamarine Flat Back Crystals from ButterBeeScraps.  I used glossy accents to apply the crystals.  Then I added this entire piece to the front of the shape card.

Here is another look at the finished card.  I have several pictures for the tutorial so you can see all of the steps but this is a really quick and easy card to put together--only about 5-10 minute!

Daisy Happy Birthday Card

Hello blogging friends!  Today, is the first day of CHA!  The day when all of the New Releases are revealed!!  I can't wait to see all of the New crafty goodness!

Today, I have a birthday card to share with you using some of the New Two-Scoops paper from Bazzill which can be found at Discount Cardstock.  The color I used is called Two Scoops Prickly Pear.  I know so many of you love the Dotted Swiss and the Two-Scoops is a step up--it's like a Two Tone Dotted Swiss!!  Gotta love that!  I also used some of the New Release die templates from SpellbindersJuly Ribbon Club Assortment from Really Reasonable Ribbon and stamps from The Rubber Cafe'.

To start I die cut the S4-368 Hexagon shape and stamped the E-549 Daisy Bouquet image and added the color with Copic Markers.

Then I stamped the sentiment on to Simply Smooth White and die cut a smaller S4-368 Hexagon shape.  Before removing the die template I used the die as a stencil and inked the inside edges with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink.

Next I die cut the border using Two Scoops Prickly Pear paper and S5-138 Octagon Stripes and Accents die template.  This is a cut-fold-tuck die template so after I die cut the shape then I folded and tucked along the cut lines.  The Two-Scoops paper is perfect for this because it has the two tones of paper.  Then I threaded a piece of yellow floral printed ribbon from the July Ribbon Club Assortment from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Here is a close up of the border.  I also added a yellow handmade crochet flower that my aunt Gail made and I added a pearl to the center.

I die cut a larger S4-368 Hexagon to use as a mat behind the daisy image and then I lightly sanded the die cut to reveal the lighter color and the Swiss Dot pattern on the paper.

Here is a close up of the card front with the layered die cuts.

I also used S5-131 A2 Matting Basic A, S5-132 A2 Matting Basic B for the matting.  I have to say I am loving the Card Creator die templates--easy peasy and no measuring!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I am off to watch LIVE from CHA--I can't wait to see all of the New Release!!  I hope you have a Fantastic Day!!

Hugs & Smiles,
Heidi

Hello blogging friends!  I am so happy to have you join me today and I am thrilled to be introducing the NEW LF-015 Grand Decorative Circles One die template set from Spellbinders™.  I know how much you all love the Nestablities® Decorative Elelments die templates with the decorative edges and now you will be able to have and create so many beautiful projects using the Grand Nestabilites® Decorative Elements die templates with the decorative edges. Think of all the fabulous projects you will be able to create!

MSRP US$49.99

Approximate Die Templates Sizes:

1: 4 ¾”

2: 5 ¾”

3: 6 ¼”

4: 7 7/8”

Here is my first project that I have to share with you using the LF-015 Grand Decorative Circles One die template and shrink art.  Did you ever create with Shinky Dinks when you were little or do your kids create with them now?  Who knew Shrinky Dinks could look so glamorous and beautiful LOL!  Below I have a full tutorial to share with you on how I created this sweet little Paris shrink art pin.

Supplies

Copic:  Air Brush System, Markers - YG63, B04, R85, 100
Tsukineko StazOn Metallic Silver Ink
Ranger Glossy Accents
Oven and Pin Back

For my project I used die templates one, two and three in the LF-015 Grand Decorative Circles One die template set, with the smallest die template being number one.  I started by using the Grand Calibur® Machine to die cut the shrink plastic.

For the smallest circle in the LF-015 Grand Decorative Circles One die template set I used Tsukineko StazOn Metallic Silver Ink and CL-03790 Paris Background Stamp from JustRite Papercraft to stamp the background image on to the shrink plastic before removing the die template, using the die template as a stencil.  I set this aside to dry for a few minutes and then carefully removed the shrink plastic from the die template.

I also die cut the Eiffel Tower from the S5-145 French Frills die template set from the Samantha Walker Designer Collection using Black Shrink Plastic.

Once I had all of the Shrink Plastic die cut then I put it in the oven to shrink it down, following the instructions on the package.  Here is a picture of the largest die template used and the die cut once it was shrunk down.  Even once it is shrunk down it still maintains all of the detail!

Here is another picture with some of the die cuts once they were shrunk down in size.

I wanted to have the largest circle black but I didn't happen to have a large enough piece of the black shrink plastic so I used the Copic Air Brush System and Copic marker 100 Black to color the shrink plastic to match my project.

I used Crystal Clear Shrink Plastic for the smallest circle and I wanted to add some color so I airbrushed the back side of the die cut using Copic markers YG63, B04 and R85.

Here is a picture of all the die cuts before I assembled the pin.

I used Glossy Accents to layer and adhere all of the pieces together.  Then I added Clear Rhinestones  from The Rubber Cafe' using the Stick "EM" Up Tool for perfect placement.  To finish of the pin I covered the entire piece with Glossy Accents and added a pin back.

Check it out!  Here is a picture so you can see just how much everything shrunk down in size!

For my second project I designed a large shape card using LF-015 Grand Decorative Circles One, S5-145 French Frills and S5-146 Botanical Swirls and Accents from the Samantha Walker Designer Collection.

To design my card I used the New S5-131 A2 Matting Basics A, S5-135 A2 Fancy Ribbon Threader die templates designed by Cindy EchtinawSpellbinders along with S4-367 Back To Basics Tags die templates.  I have to tell you I absolutely LOVE the New Nestabilities® Card Creator Collection!!  It is so quick and easy to use!!

To start I stamped the peony image from CR-03755 Seeds Of Summer stamp set from JustRite Papercraft on to watercolor paper using Rich Cocoa ink.  Then I colored the image using Distress Markers (colors listed below) from Ranger.

After I colored the image then I used S5-135 A2 Fancy Ribbon Threader die template from the Nestabilities® Card Creator Collection to to cut/emboss the Fancy Ribbon Threader mat for my card.  I also used Herbal Garden cardstock and S5-131 A2 Matting Basics A for the background.  To create the tag I used S4-367 Back To Basics Tags and a sentiment from CR-03815 Large Fancy Sentiments stamp set from JustRite Papercraft.  Before removing the die template from the tag and floral image I used inked the inside edges of the paper using the die template as a stencil.

Here is a close up of the tag.  I added a bow to the top using May Arts Ribbon Sampler Spring Green from
