~A Quilt Workshop.......Past Times

Recently I attended a workshop for this lovely quilt
Past Times by Lynne Wilson

The quilt was made up of fat quarters so I went 'shopping' in my stash......
bundled up my fabrics and tied a ribbon around them all ready to take in to the workshop for Lynne to have a look at......
The fabrics were a mix of traditional and country and mostly deep colours

The most unlikely combinations were put together and they looked great!!!

This is laying out the blocks so I have put them in this post for handy reference to it
I am up to this part but not sure if I will get to it before Christmas!!!

~A Workshop and Weird Happenings with Blogger~

This is the quilt Past Times by Lynne Wilson at Steph's that I fell in love with
It's a Fat 1/4 quilt made with 22 fat 1/4's

These are the fabrics I put together when I went 'shopping' on my shelf

And these are the first few blocks that are on their way
To me it looks rather 'wild' with fabrics I normally wouldn't put together but this quilt lends itself so much to that
A mixture of traditional and country fabrics
And I love them all!!!!!!

Yesterday on arriving home I thought I would check in on my Dashboard and lo-and-behold under where it says blogs that  follow there were some really undesirable posts...
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them?

These posts go on and on and I seem to have lost all my regular posts that I follow but maybe they are there right at the end wherever that might be!!!

Now I'm off to start putting more blocks together and off to a Sing-a-long with the gang from our Melodrama!!!

~Past Times....A Quilt Workshop~

I've signed up to do a workshop in September at Step's at Moruya.  It's been a while since I've done one and now I think I will aim for one a year!

I have 25 fat quarters here from my stash......the required amount is 22

All set to make this quilt named 'Past Times' designed by Lynne Wilson

I'm loving the darker colours in it and it just looks so warm and happy!!!

Talking about warm, yesterday we had a slow combustion wood fire installed and now it's toasty warm here...
I'll be back with pics to show it off!!!

Tonight it's the last night of the Melodrama so it's going to be fun, fun, fun!!!

~Girls Day In The Country at Nundle 2013~

GDITC was held at the Memorial Hall at Nundle and this was the sign welcoming us all
This day is hosted by Kerry from The Cottage on the Hill

Quilts and flowers by the front entry......so welcoming

A little box of requirements for the day along with a coffee mug which we got to keep (I swapped my pink one for an aqua one with Cheryll)
see on the right hand side of the little box the white ric rac
I was on the White Ric Rac table

amongst the goodies was a Charm Pack by Riley Blake Designs

included was a little notebook which I managed to swap and get this one off Dawnie
then realized that Kerry's project was for a journal cover
I'll have to get myself a new little book as I can't bring myself to cover this one!!!

Kerry's project......A Journal Cover

and the real deal......

Guest Tutor for the day was Sue Daley and the project was a butterfly made out of the charm pack we received.  This version is on a box lid

Kerry had made hers to insert into the top of the little box we all received

And this one on a bag cover

And woo hooo here is my first hexagon

Around our table I spotted this little project above using 'clamshells'.  This is last year's project also by Sue....Kerry has the guest tutors for 2 years in a row and next year's is Lynette Anderson and I am already booked in!!!

This lovely little pencil case or any sort of case belongs to Susan
the design is by Anni Downs......how gorgeous is this......I might have to add this to my looooong list of things to make

Our table in the centre

At lunchtime I had a quick walk around town and checked out Odgers & Mclelland Exchange Stores
The store, established by John Odgers and William McClelland, began trading in the early 1890's selling everything necessary for the surrounding farming community and acting as an exchange for gold and produce.

'Real' brooms

Nundle is also home to the well known Nundle Woollen Mill

Here is Donna aka Chookyblue standing with me

And our Hostess with the Mostest Kerry with Chooky
(love that skirt Kerry!)

From left back......Alison, Cheryll, Lea, Dawnie, Trish and me
Deb and Susan

Kerry had organized a little swap (above is mine) for everybody which was a scissor fob (no scissors, I just put mine in for a photo because they happened to match)

This was received by Bec (no blog)

And I received this one from Cheryl (no blog)

Group Blog Photo of the Girlfriends (as JoJo would say)
Sue is on the left of the middle row

I had a great time at Nundle......in fact so did Mr Armchair and JoJo and we are all looking forward to next year with Lynette!!!!!

But wait, there's more to come LOL......
Mr Armchair took JoJo to Australia's Country Music Capital, Tamworth
Kerry had an Antique Quilt Show on Saturday night
and I had a birthday celebration with my family on the way home

~A Class with Deb Louie...A Primitive Book...and Pirates of Penzance~

Last week I had the absolute pleasure in attending a very comprehensive quilting workshop at Steph's with the lovely Deborah Louie

I did a one day workshop and boy did I learn heaps!!!
Above is fabric Deb had drawn up for us showing cables, cross hatch and straight lines where we learnt to lift and drag...
Deb also showed us how to prepare a quilt for quilting

My lift and drag...

Cables and cross hatches
I had never really been shown this before and I am so pleased I did this workshop
I thoroughly enjoyed it and hopefully will be able to attend the 2 day one next year if it runs
Thanks Deb......I have learnt so much from you and can't wait to do some cross hatching

During the week I received this Primitive magazine from The Stitching Post which I couldn't resist and ended up signing up for it
lots of lovely projects in warm autumn colours

Rehearsals have started for Gilbert & Sullivan's Gilbert and Sullivans Pirates of Penzance at our local Amateur Theatre Group
I'm in the Chorus of Police and learning heaps......even some acting and singing along with a bunch of other Highly Nervous Police......and having lots of fun

I'm away this weekend with a bunch of school friends that I haven't seen for a while
Mr Armchair is going to take over care duties for JoJo while I go and kick up my heels with my buddies

So I better go and pack now and I'll be back after the weekend with some pics of our rehearsals!!!

Welcome To My World

Hello, my name is Dzintra Ingrid ... have been known as Ingrid and since our Sea Change I have started to use Dzintra ... pronounced without the D ... (but still known as Ingrid, I know, it's confusing ...)

Welcome to my world ... a journal of our Sea Change ... Mum to three wonderful children ... bringing up a daughter with a disability and seeing life through her eyes ... being a new Nanna ... photos ... inspiring quotes ... taking on a cookery course ... the odd recipe ... and trying to get some stitching done amongst all this ...
