~OPAM (One Project A Month) September 2014~

2 small items completed this month
The first above is a pin cushion designed by Natalie Bird of Birdhouse Designs

The pattern is above and is the first item received in a Tilda Club I joined recently
I was determined to start straight away and then finish this little pretty and I hope to continue to do that with all the bi-monthly postings in this Club

Lovely fabric

which included cotton lace and ribbon along with the pattern.

I also completed this little Happy Heart (after it sat around for about 4 years)

and popped in some pip berries

just like the pattern designed by Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched

Thank you Sweet Peg and Kris for organizing OPAM once again this year!!!

I haven't been able to rock around and comment on everyone's blogs lately
Just so busy tied up with having the little Grandies here and JoJo but I do get around and have a quick read to see what everyone is up to.

Hope all you OPAMer's out there had a great month

~A Respite Weekend For Us.......and Chooky's Christmas Swap~

This weekend we had organised a much looked forward to respite for JoJo
We thought we'd have a day trip down the coast
We started off at the Blue Earth Cafe for coffee/lemon myrtle tea and lunch

We ended up at the beautiful seaside port of Bermagui where Billy Connolly filmed part of the film The Man Who Sued God
We had Fish 'n Chips here and saw a fishing boat come in.

This morning I made (gluten free) Choc Chip Muffins with Choc Chips that were organic from

This afternoon I did a little on my Tilda Club Pin Cushion

and to finish off we went for a beach walk in the late afternoon and saw the sun catching the waves

 and on the beach grass

'round the corner this piece of gum!
A lovely relaxing weekend just being 'us' and tasting the 'normal' world
We could come and go as we please
Sit for as long as we wanted without having to jump up and down
We even walked together and held hands on the beach
Something we don't normally do as one of us has to be with JoJo!!!

All in all a lovely weekend........

I have joined Chookyblue's Secret Santa Christmas Swap this year and looking forward to receiving news of who my partner is!!!

Thank you to everyone who comes over and reads my humble little blog and comments on it
I truly do appreciate it and do try sincerely to get back to everybody

Hope your weekend was a good one
Here's to another week........Dzintra xo

~OPAM (One Project A Month)...October~

Good Morning on this beautiful Sunday!!!
I have a couple of little items for OPAM here
We were at Bargain Box Fabrics one Saturday morning when JoJo spotted some Christmas Fat 1/4's and ribbon and of course she had to have them

We came home and made up 2 little bags and she was absolutely thrilled with them

And another little finish is this gorgeous Travel Wallet worked with linen

Pattern by Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched from her Some Kind of Wonderful book

The inside......a place for a pen and 2 large pockets and 2 smaller ones

perfect for tickets......notebook etc

Magnetic clips from Sarah's Patchworks Plus

and the back of the wallet
I think this will come in very handy
especially as JoJo and I are off to see The Wiggles farewell concert in December and they will be the first tickets to go in there

Thank you so much for hosting OPAM Peg and Kris!!!

I've barely got a lot of time at the moment for much sewing at all due to being in Pirates of Penzance this month
4 shows over the last 2 weekends and next weekend plus a mid week show

I am so loving being part of this wonderful cast with The Bay Theatre Players
On Friday night I was told by Jeremy who plays Frederic that I can sing and hold a tune
WOW WOW WOW this is huge for me seeing I wasn't even going to be in this production at all and I don't normally sing

Now I better hoof it as I've got to get in to the theatre early to sell programmes today
so from me it's TARANTARA TARANTARA TARANTARA

OPAM...(One Project A Month)...Mary Agnes Sewing Set

OPAM for February now finished...PHEW!!!
This project I first mentioned back in December 2008...
I finally started it last year...

Scissor holder sitting on top of fabric which is to hold a pincushion...

From Country Threads magazine Volume 9 No 3...Mary Agnes Sewing Set by Kate Hampson at That Raggedy One...

Kates's version from the magazine...

My pincushion and scissor holder...

The pin cushions sits on a fabric covered board with felt underneath...
And I love this set!!!

Thanks so much Peg and Kris for hosting OPAM...
I don't think know I wouldn't be completing an item a month if it wasn't for this!!!

Forecast for this weekend is rain...rain...and more rain...
75% of New South Wales is predicting floods...
Warragamba Dam in Sydney is about to spill over

We are safe here at the moment this coming weekend so thinking perhaps a Cook Up and a bit of sewing will happen...

Happy Weekend and stay safe...Dzintra

OPAM (One Project A Month)....August 2011

Another OPAM completed for this year...
Can't believe it's the first day of Spring tomorrow...gosh this year has flown!!!

This stitchery is a Cathy Penton design...

pulled out from a shelf full of stuff...waiting to be dealt with!!!

All trimmed down and ready to be stitched onto an apron I bought 2 years ago for this stitchery!!!

I stitched it back in 2007 as Ingrid (which is my second name) and I started using Dzintra (pronounced without the D) 4 years ago when all my ID stated that it was my first name...

I thought I would also add some tape somewhere...not sure which one at this stage...

I stitched it down first and then went around the outside with a pattern stitch (heart) and to look at it you would think it was lace...looks very effective I must say!!!

I went for Simplify tape and stitched it onto the bib part of the apron...

Now I'm all set to go...
my arm is ever so slooooowly going round to the back but I'll hopefully get there!!!

Thanks to Peg and Kris for hosting OPAM...
without this the apron would probably be still sitting in the cupboard!!!

and back...

Finally finished this pattern book cover from last year's Stitching Day!!!

the inside...

Had these gorgeous pumpkin fabrics since 2003 and made 2 patchwork travel cases...

Thanks to Peg and Kris for hosting OPAM...I'm sure I wouldn't finish nearly as much without it!!!

Welcome To My World

Hello, my name is Dzintra Ingrid ... have been known as Ingrid and since our Sea Change I have started to use Dzintra ... pronounced without the D ... (but still known as Ingrid, I know, it's confusing ...)

Welcome to my world ... a journal of our Sea Change ... Mum to three wonderful children ... bringing up a daughter with a disability and seeing life through her eyes ... being a new Nanna ... photos ... inspiring quotes ... taking on a cookery course ... the odd recipe ... and trying to get some stitching done amongst all this ...
