~Girls Day In The Country......Saturday~

Further to my previous post on GDITC at Nundle once we entered the door we were greeted by these delightful boxes with our project from our Tutor for the day.......Lynette Anderson

Fabric in the box from her latest design

and all kitted out ready to start!!!

The project was a bag and this is the front of it

the back

and my first hexagon!!!

Upon entering the Hall I spotted this quilt called 'Waiting for Santa' by Lynette and thought it looked very, very familiar
As it was I had seen it before in another version at Braidwood and fell in love with it there also
To see the post on this quilt have a look here

Needles to say I bought the pattern and have it set aside to start one of these days!!!

The centrepiece on the table

There was a Show and Tell featuring Lynette's made up items and I showed off my Simple Stitches needle case

Kerry hosted a Friendship Swap which was a needle case designed by Lynette

and Lynda received mine

I received mine from Suzie

Pic taken with Lynette

Some of Lynette's quilts on display

This one is Love Letters and I'm very tempted to do this
Perhaps next year when I go back!!!

There was a Show and Tell later that evening and here I am together with Chookyblue showing off our Gardener's Journal Quilts by Anni Downs
Note the different colours......Chooky has done hers in all greens

Some Kind of Wonderful also by Anni

A group photo of us all

And the most exciting thing for JoJo was the next morning when Bruce McCumstie was telephoned by the owners/managers of the Cabins we stayed at and requested if he would come down and sign a CD that he is featured on!!!

Jo Jo purchased the CD in Nundle and it is called 4 Highwaymen depicting

Willie Nelson who Bruce was,
Waylon Jennings......Rob Wilson
Johnny Cash......Alan Bowles
Kris Kristofferson.....Bryen Williams

Thank you so much Fossicker's Rest and Bruce!!!!!!

Have been very busy here in the local production of 'Allo 'Allo by Bay Theatre Players and will be back to post on that!!!

~OPAM (One Project A Month) March 2014 and Needlwork Group~

2 small projects this month for OPAM
The first is a block for part of a quilt being organized by Fiona at my Needlework group for raffle later on in the year (would love to win this one)
The quilt is Best Friends Forever by Rosalie Quinlan
Fabric is Scrumptious by Camille Roskelley

And here's a sample of some of the blocks already done!!!

And this is a secret block (can't talk about this one yet)
Thank you Sweet Peg and Kris for organizing OPAM again for another year!!!

Fiona organizes projects for us and the first one is this Chateau Rogue Pincushion

and the next is an Embroidered Sewing Bag

And here I am showing off my Gardener's Journal quilt to the group
I've changed times with this group now
Instead of going in the morning I go in the evening as I just wasn't getting to the group in good time  what with getting JoJo ready.........and then waiting for her lift to come to go to her programmes the group had already been running for nearly an hour!!!

I'm loving the new time as I am getting more done and the group has made me so very, very welcome!!!  Thank you Fiona, Asta and the rest of the girls!!!

Only thing is I am mixed up in rehearsals for 'Allo 'Allo presented by Bay Theatre Players along with Asta and I'm not getting there every week!!!
After all, I couldn't resist saying yes to sitting in French Cafe scenes!!!

Have a great week......love Dzintra

~OPAM September 2013......A Gardener's Journal FINISHED~

Hi Everyone
Introducing my OPAM (One Project A Month) for this month
doing a great big Happy Dance wooo hoooo
my Gardener's Journal quilt is finally finished
and I am soooo happy with it!!!

I remember a few months into starting this quilt I broke my arm which just put me back several months in everything and at one stage wondered if I would ever get it done!!!
I'll never take the use of 2 arms for granted again....

Thank you so much Chooky and Peg who are the inspiration for doing this Quilt in Stitch-a-long
and also thank you to all the fellow stitchers out there for all the support and encouragement along the way in getting this quilt finally completed....

I have thoroughly enjoyed doing my Gardener's Journal and I will bring it up to Nundle next year to show it off.....

And thank you Peg and Kris for hosting OPAM
I love that most months I can get a project complete no matter how small

Till then.....Happy Stitching
'bye, Dzintra xoxo

~A Gardener's Journal......All Quilted Now~

Woo hooo......
After a few days of not being well with a cough that won't go away which has turned into a cold now I had a phone call today from my Quilter Debbie who said that my Gardener's Journal has been quilted!!!!
I had thought about quilting it myself but once she started talking feathers and swirls etc I thought go ahead and let her do it as me not having quilted anything like this couldn't do this!!!

On looking at it I thought it would have been better to surround the centre house with the red fabric but it is as it is now...

Mr Armchair kindly went to see Debbie and picked it up for me and now I can't stop looking at it....
I think I might take it up to GDITC (Girls Day in the Country) next year and show it off!!!

Now to the binding but I won't start until I feel better
I see an OPAM (One Project A Month) coming up!!!

~Stitching Update and a Surprise Gift for JoJo~

The front of my A Gardener's Journal

I'm still working on A Gardener's Journal as part of Stitch-a-long hosted by the gorgeous Chookyblue
I have done a pieced back with some of the fabrics used in the quilt...
I'm very happy with it and hope to get this sandwiched real soon...

Thanks so much to Chooky for running this fabulous quilt in Stitch-a-long and to all the gals who drop by and leave comments of encouragement!!!!!!!!
~I have thoroughly enjoyed this journey~

Meanwhile over Christmas JoJo received a surprise gift from Lynn who was my partner in 2011 in Chooky's Christmas Swap

The card

The message to JoJo

and.....a lovely bright pillowcase
Thank you so much Lynn......JoJo just absolutely loved it and is looking forward to seeing it again and using it in July when we celebrate 'Christmas in July'

Meanwhile my New Year's project is this 'Welcome Home Door Stop' by yep, you guessed it, my favourite Designer Anni Downes of Hatched and Patched

The fabrics are from Anni's 'Some Kind of Wonderful' range
I bought this as part of a kit and now ready to get into it!!!

I'm very excited also as I have just joined an on-line swap group (Friends-in-Stitching) and a lot of the gals I have met last year at the Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair so this will challenge me in a lovely way to get more stitching done......and I'm a bit nervous about it as well

Sending Love and Prayers to everybody affected by the devastating bushfires around the countryside and to all those brave firefighters out there
and especially to our own Chooky who is in amongst the most frightening time out there
Stay Safe.........Dzintra
