~OPAM...One Project A Month...May 2016~

OPAM again for another month
How quickly is this year going!!!
Above and below is a Book Bag for my Friend for her Birthday

Whilst on a roll I made 2 more!!!

A Fat 1/4 that JoJo spotted on a recent visit to a Patchwork Shop
Fabric is 'Three Quarter Time' by Whistler Studios presented by Windham W. Fabrics
All goes with JoJo's inherited love of music

But what else would she like but a new Neckerchief!!!

And wearing it proudly on a beach walk this last Sunday!!!

Thank You so much Sweet Peg and her Partner-in-Crime Kris for hosting OPAM
I know I wouldn't get so much done without the challenge of OPAM!!!

Till next time.......Dzintra xo

The Making of a Quilt...Forty Years of Light and OPAM (One Project A Month)

5 years on and off in the planning and how to execute this quilt
for my Son's birthday
I even thought perhaps I'll make a Log Cabin one

Who else to ask for advice but my dear Friend Geo (no blog)
This required a few hours drive and a couple of overnight stays
We arrived and not too long afterwards Geo got into the drawing of The Triangle

I was assigned the ironing in preparation for The Rainbow

Sewing away with a smile lol

Step 1 Rainbow done!!!!!!

Precision work here

Meanwhile Mr Armchair entertains JoJo

As does Geo's DH Lloyd

And loookeeee it's coming together

And wow a Quilt Top in 2 days
We were all sooooooo happy and excited

Geo assigned JoJo the task of decorating the Christmas Tree
She was so happy to do this
I reckon she would do this for a living if she could lol

I'm pretty new to quilting and this was a precise job being very straight angles and lines
Everything had to be exact

Quilting away
Whoever thought I would love this
I need to learn more about it especially free motion and hand quilting

Another day and still quilting

All done and time for a photo shoot
For this one I thought I would choose a bush setting as DS loves the bush and practically
grew up in it
So we headed off the the Gold Rush Colony home of our Melodramas

All rolled up

The back is black with gold musical notes

The day before we  handed it over
I thought we had to do a photo shoot here in our yard and on the beach our extended front yard

Mr Armchair quite liked the seaside daisies here

We came across this sweet little Love Heart

Then I thought I had to have a bag to put Forty Years of Light into

And it's all done!!!!!

So happy with it all

Thank you so much to Mr Armchair for helping out with the Mathematics of it all
Geo for The Triangle and lots of patchworky advice
Lloyd for entertaining JoJo and keeping the meals up to us all
JoJo for keeping us on our toes

And to both of you Geo and Lloyd for being such wonderful hosts
We had a fabulous weekend
Mmmmmm what will we make next???

*****************

The quilt and the bag are my OPAM for this month
Thank you so much Sweet Peg and Kris for hosting again this year

Happy Anniversary To Us

Yesterday was our Wedding Anniversary and we unexpectedly took a trip up to the Big Smoke!
I saw this lovely Christmas light and thought I would really like one of these at home
Lovely Christmas setting

JoJo is still wearing her Halloween neckerchief plus a Beatles tie
She saw a Christmas tie with a button on it that makes music so that was purchased
And yes her next neckerchief will be a Barbara Brackman Civil War one entitled Spring 1800-1830
And she chose it herself so has good taste like her Mum lol
It looks Christmasey too so Geo (no blog) you might get to see it

Lunch at Jamie Oliver's.  JoJo had Bolognaise
Meatballs for Mr Armchair
And if course gluten free for me......A vegetable plank
Walking along I spotted this lovely setting
A quick selfie with my new specs which are a bluey colour on the inside......very nice too
We have our photo taken every year on our Wedding Anniversary
Help who would've thought we were married in the 70's
Seems such a lifetime away
This one is at Koko Bean......one of my favourite places!
Happy Happy Anniversary Mr Armchair......we had a great day
Love Dzintra aka Ingrid

A Catch Up Week....and 'Eye News'

I've been a little quiet on the blog front lately....turns out the iPad screen is playing havoc with my eyes and giving me headaches.......not just the screen but bright light outside and glare as well...... After a trip to the Optometrist I've been prescribed new lenses with anti-glare and been advised to have breaks from it all.......so looking forward to the new specs!  Meanwhile I am visiting everybody but not commenting everywhere!

I thought a little catch up was In order
Above is some secret sewing for Chooky's SSCS (Secret Santa Christmas Swap)
The big reveal will happen after Christmas when my Partner opens her gift

Meanwhile here's JoJo snipping some Snow Peas which are doing really well

I bought some garlic and onion from the Moruya Sage Markets

And then of course some garlic fell down and looked like a spaceship
Also I spilt the frozen peas all over the floor

Went to a Carer's Lunch today at The Grapevine Cafe and had the most delicious Chicken Salad with Avocado and Grapes.  Also check out the lovely (Market) Zucchini.......such lovely shapes!!!

Underneath is a pic of a Gluten Free Fingerlime and Coconut Tart also purchased at the Markets.....totally awesome!

Better sign off now......these poor old peepers are starting to spin
Till next time......Dzintra

~Happy Birthday JoJo~

Jo Jo has just celebrated her birthday and we had a great day yesterday
By special request a Wiggles Cake for her

She loves a bouquet of flowers

A Happy Birthday Mug was one of the gifts

And a long awaited for pair of Electric Blue Suede boots
I think she has inherited her Mum's shoe fetish LOL.......perhaps I taught her!!!

And JoJo was famous for a day when a dear Blogging mate Shez blogged about her special day (a year long awaited event)
The birthday post is over here

Here is the little decoration Shez sent her

and the back of it

She then hung it on the door handle with the Christmas Decoration Shez made for her!!!
Thank You so much dear Shez......you are one awesome chick and so thoughtful!!!

We went out for Breakfast to JoJo's favourite place for pancakes
Above is the view looking through the window overlooking Clyde River

Then on to a blown up balloon

After that we dropped her off to 'work', her Day Programme for a few hours
Her Brother came up for overnight and we took him for a Bowl of Coffee

He even brought up a selection of European Beers.......in snow!!!

I even scored a belated Birthday/Mother's Day Gifts in this pink bag

along with some Paris Cushions and a Katie Melua CD

When JoJo arrived home it was a Wiggles Birthday Cake

We then went out for an early dinner so that we could see Bay Theatre Players Production of Annie
And we are taking it easy today
Hope you had a Beautiful Birthday Darling JoJo!!!

And now it will be non-stop as we await Christmas LOL!!!

Hello, my name is Dzintra Ingrid ... have been known as Ingrid and since our Sea Change I have started to use Dzintra ... pronounced without the D ... (but still known as Ingrid, I know, it's confusing ...)

Welcome to my world ... a journal of our Sea Change ... Mum to three wonderful children ... bringing up a daughter with a disability and seeing life through her eyes ... being a new Nanna ... photos ... inspiring quotes ... taking on a cookery course ... the odd recipe ... and trying to get some stitching done amongst all this ...
