Greece 2012: I am back from Zakynthos

Hi my lovely readers,

 

The last couple of weeks I've been showing you only older manis, that was because I planned those blog posts before I went on vacation with my dad and boyfriend. As many of you know I love Greece, my boyfriend and I visit another island every year. This year my dad went with us because he wanted to go on holiday too, his first time after my moms death.. it was really hard. Zakynthos wasn't one of the prettiest islands I've seen, but did really loved the boot trips we did. The prettiest things were on the outside of the island like some beaches and a lot of caves.

Zakynthos is "famous" for the Caretta Caretta turtle who swims in the bay of Laganas and lays eggs on the beaches there. So all my manis had something with turtles on it. I will show them to you the next couple of weeks. I also always try to take some holiday nail pictures, so I have a lot of pictures I had this on my nails more then a week so some pics you see a bit of tipwear ;)

 

Let's start with a nice sunset behind the mountains.

 

Here the picture I took before I left.

It's a gradient base with white from P2 and China Glaze Towel Boy Toy, China Glaze Splish Splash and a blue shimmer from a very old LE from Catrice over all of it. Self made water decals of the shape of the island with the Greek flag on it, the word Zakynthos and Caretta Caretta turtles. Stamped the Greek Meandros sign with Konad SN White and image plate S6.

 On the beach we often went to. You could only lie a few meters from the ocean because in the soft sand there we Caretta Caretta turtles nests who still needed to hatch.

I also saw some starfish while I was snorkeling, ofcourse after taking a picture I brought them back in the ocean where I found them :)

Me holding "turtle island" it is called this way because it is shaped a bit as a turtle. And also the Caretta Caretta turtles nest on the beach on that island.

Greek Mythology

Hello Everyone,

I have been blogging a lot this week :) But I have a lot of creations I still haven't showed here. Today is one I made for my 2nd entry for the History, Myths and Legends contest on: http://noholos.blogspot.com/2012/07/stamping-and-freehand-contest.html It is still open so you can all enter too, she has lots of prizes in different categories.

This was actually my first idea that I tested on paper, when I first read the theme I was like oooh this is gonna be hard, but then one thing popped in my head and that was Greek Mythology. I go the Greece almost every year :) Love it there. So I did some more research about that and looked what kind of design I could make with my plates and parts of plates.

Base a gradient from Golden Rose Paris Holographic color 107, OPI Illumiinate and OPI My private yet. All stamped with Konad SN black.

Pinkie: Pegasus the horse with wings is one of the best known mythological creatures in Greek mythology.

Mirror stamped the horse from Konad S5 (colored the saddle) added wings from BM03.

Ring finger: Themis or Themis’ daughter Dike holding a scale both in the Greek Mythology associated with justice. If you look for Lady Justice you will also find things and images of Themis.

Stamped from Konad M34.

Middle finger: Greek pottery with ancient Greek signs on it.

Konad M33 (removed the face and added with XL plate B sort of Greek signs).

Index finger: A Centaur (creature that was half man half horse) this is Chiron a kind and intelligent Centaur (most were violent) who taught the Greek gods.

Lower body from the horse of Konad S5 (same as on my pinkie), upper body part of Konad M34, bow also from part of M34.

Thumb: Medusa with her hair of snakes and the evil eye of Medusa.

Konad M34 and added some snaky looking hair from Konad M33. Her evil eye is from Konad M4.

On the tips some sort of Greek Meandros sign from Konad S6.

I removed my previous blog: In loving memory of my mom ♥

I saw a lot of traffic on my blog from a certain foreign forum and what I could read/figure out is that is was about my blog and the personal info I wrote and posted about my mom. That is was shocking to do and not normal or something like that to post such things public. I hate certain gossip so I decided to remove that blog and also edited that blog where I wrote about the last days of her life..,That Christmas would never be the same.

Writing about everything what happend with my mom was kind of a way to handle things...to write it down, to deal with it and also sort of a memory that won't get lost when my computer crashes...but will always be here on my little space online. But I guess it was weird of me to think and do that?! I know certain people did appreciate it, for example people who would have wanted to be there but couldn't, but I guess looking at the traffic other people find it weird to post personal stuff online. Anyway now it is all gone!

Monday (2 January 2012) was my moms cremation and I made these nails for her.

Base is Catherine Arley 805 and on my ring finger Golden Rose Paris Holographic 104. I stamped with China Glaze 2030 sort of Greek "Meandros" key from Konad plate S6. And on my ring finger a self made photo decal of my mom (with a greek border around it) Sorry did not take a great photo but you could see my mom really good (somehow decals and holo are not the greatest combination when it comes to taking photos ;))

I also made a new creation for New Years Eve, did want to make something but not with the word Happy on it like I normally do. Because it wasn't a Happy New Years Eve :( I really missed my mom...she should have been there with her glass in her hand cheering and being scared of the fireworks ;) My boyfriend, my best friend and my sister and I did had some fireworks and our last big rocket was especially for my mom ♥

Base China Glaze Ruby Pumps (I have it for many years but it was still one of my untrieds on my own nails (my friends did used it)) Stamped some sort of fireworks with XL plate F and China Glaze 2030, Essence stampy silver and Konad SN white. 2012 is stamped with the numbers of the Konad plates M20 and M12 from the big demo plates.

I REMOVED THE REST ABOUT THE CREMATION AND OTHER PERSONAL STUFF.

Holiday to.....Greece

Kalimera (good day)

I'm leaving for a couple of weeks to Greece (the island Chios)  Don't know if I have any internet there so I probably can't post anything. But when I come back I'll show you my creations I made there ;)

Here are my Greek nails, I'm ready to go!

Base is OPI DS Sapphire, self made water decals from Greece (a greek boat, greek house, greek donkey, greek beach and the map of the Island we are going to) Under the decals I first made a white circle. I stamped with Konad plate S6  (looks like the greek key Meandros) and SN blue

Now I'm busy packing my suitcase, I'm leaving sundag night. See you in a couple of weeks or maybe sooner if I have internet there.
