Masculine and Monochromatic

Hello friends - thanks for being here to visit me.
Lately I've been better at coloring images than
I have at getting them on finished cards.
Do you ever go in spurts like that?
A few weeks ago I colored this awesome guy image
in a sepia monochromatic style (using copic markers).
I finally got it on a finished card for my husband.
I told him it's celebrating our anniversary (end of March),
his birthday (end of April) and for Father's Day.
Hey...one of three occasions on time - and even early
for one isn't too bad right?!?  He said he was impressed
that I didn't wrap 4th of July into it too. LOL!

Here's the finished card - I'm really in love with the
monochromatic effect of this.  (I used copic markers).
Sadly I had a terrible time getting a good photo of
this today with the gloomy weather.

Stamp sets used are Good in the Woods
(main image) and the stars in the background
and sentiment are from Party Time Sentiments
(all from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps).

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Thanks for taking the time to stop in. I hope you'll leave
a quick comment and say "hi" as it really makes my day.
Crafty (social distanced hugs)! D

Beary Love in Blue

Hello friends!
Popping in to share my newest card with you
for the current Anything Goes Challenge
at Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps
(All products used are from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps).

I made the background using a stencil first
(Beautiful Burlap) with a dollar store makeup
brush and Sparkling Sapphire hybrid ink.
Next I used my Stamping platform to make the
repeating heart pattern on top of the stenciled pattern.
First I used a medium sized heart from
Hearts and Stars! In Bubbly Blue ink.
Then I used a smaller heart and this time
used Sparkling Sapphire ink - again in a
repeating pattern. I colored one of the
adorable bear images from Beary Love
In a coordinating shade of blue for a
monochromatic effect. It might be difficult
to see but I stamped the image in the blue ink
too. Kraftin’ Kimmie hybrid inks are so fantastic
for all coloring mediums without bleeding!
Lastly the sentiment from Love Story Sentiments
Was also stamped on the Sparkling Sapphire ink
And cut in a flagged shape.
I really love how it turned out!
Take a look:

I’m entering the following challenges:
YNS Fun Friday Challenge #132 "Create Your Own Background"

Thanks so much for visiting me today! Hugs! D

Kraftin' Kimmie Challenges Wonderful Wednesday (12.6.17)

Happy Wednesday friends and followers!
It's time for another WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY weekly challenge
You know what that means...the theme is ANYTHING GOES!
You can create and share any type of project with any theme!
We would love for you to play along with us! It's a great excuse to find
some more crafty time to finish those last minute cards and/or gifts.
To give you even more incentive you get a chance to WIN
some krafty $ to spend in the KKS Store (see challenge blog
for more details)!

Each month there is also a sketch that we provide to give you a
little extra MOJO if you need it.  I tend to use these sketches a lot
because not only are they great, they also help me create quicker
because I then have one less thing to decide on. With a sketch I have
the structure/layout already there and then can decide on my papers
and colors much easier.  Here's the December 2017 Sketch

This is one of the last Christmas cards I'll be making
(I have a couple others yet to share that I've already made
this week) because I have to stop and start getting them in
the mail.  Are you done with your Christmas cards and/or
gifts?  I'm always last minute Lucy myself lol!!

My card today features one of the the super "tweet" images
from MERRY AND BRIGHT BIRDIES.  Each of these
little fellas are just awesome but I think I'm just a teensy
tiny bit partial to this one with his big ol' candy cane.
I used the December sketch and a fun mix of red Christmas papers.
Here's a little closer view too

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Well lovelies I don't have much more to say today so I'll close
with a holiday (cyber) hug and a wish that you have the
most wonderful and blessed holiday season.
Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today!

I have several friends and family members with
birthdays in December and January so I love the
opportunity to get a card done for one of them.

My card today features the beautiful Snowball Fairy
from Kraftin' Kimmie - take a peek:

I actually surprised myself and used a monochromatic
color scheme.  I can only seem to do this when I don't
think about it.  When I'm told to use that my brain freezes LOL.
Can you see her sparkly wings and stars? It's kind of hard to see
in the photo but it's gorgeous IRL (courtesy of Wink of Stella pen).
I also added lots of bling with some clear rhinestones layered
on my snowy die cuts.  I think my recipient will love this card :o).

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:
Brown Sugar Challenge Blog #175 - Anything Goes
(my second entry to this challenge)

ATSM Challenge #82 - Make Your Mark

Hello friends and followers - thanks for stopping by to visit me today!
Time for another weekly challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More!
This week ATSM #82 is "Make Your Mark".

This challenge is your opportunity to "color" in any form that suits your creative nature.
Lots of options available to you for this one.  You can use pencils, crayons, alcohol ink markers (such as copic or spectrum noir), chalks, watercolor or gelatos.

We have a wonderful sponsor again this week who is offering a prize to our TOP ADDICT.
Check out the challenge site here for more details.

I've used one of Kathryne's darling digital images to make my DT card this week. Take a look:

Isn't this just the sweetest little image?  It can be used for a variety of reasons such as valentines, Easter, Mother's day, birthday, thinking of you, get well and hello.  For that reason I left the sentiment off the front.  But...I do think I just might have to send it to my sister for valentine's day since it has all that lovely pink.

I chose to color this image using my copic markers (my favorite form of coloring). I used R81, R83 and R85 on the bunny and her clothing. I used RV02 and RV21 on the tulips and the green is YG13. No patterned paper for this card - instead I used washi tape (I'm starting to understand why people love it so much :o) ).

I hope that you will decide to join us this week at ATSM for Challenge #82 - "Make Your Mark".
Dawn from Lily Pink Scraps is our guest designer again this week - her cards are so awesome!
Please go visit the rest of my DT buddies and see what they have made to share with your.

I am entering the following challenges that I got inspiration from to make this card:
The Card Concept 3 - Use monochromatic pink.
My card style is Clean and Layering (my white space is pink).
I did put just the tiniest touch of green in my card too from the wall in the photo.

House of Cards - February Challenge #1 Color and/or Photo Inspiration w/Cute/Fun or Shabby Chic.
I picked up on the 3 lovely shades of pinks.
My card meets the Cute and Fun type.

January Recipe challenge - 52CCT, ABC Christmas Challenge - "A", CCAYR - January Challenge

Hello - made it to the weekend (seemed like a long stressful week to me) and now it's time for another January challenge at 52CCT.  This week we have a recipe challenge for you.  Before I show you the details of the challenge please take a look at the card I made using the recipe:

And here's the recipe I used.

Isn't this little guy just the cutest? I think this might be my very last piece of that darker purple paper.  I actually had the embossed piece sitting on my desk from another scrapped project.  That was my inspiration for the color to use in the monochromatic scheme.  I think this penguin looks darling in purple. Don't you think so too?

I really struggled with where to put my ribbon and still keep it CAS.  Finally decided to tuck a couple pieces in at the edge.  I'm almost embarrassed to say how long I fussed around with that one aspect.  CAS doesn't always mean quick in my case - LOL.  But I do like how it turned out - finally :o).

I'm also entering my card in the following challenges:
ABC Christmas Challenge - 'A" is for Anything Christmas'
Christmas Cards All Year Round - January Challenge, Anything Goes Christmas

So glad that you came by to visit me today.  I hope that you will go visit the rest of our team at 52CCT and see what they have made as well.  We have a couple new DT members starting this week.  How lucky for us :o)  Hope to see your wonderful Christmas card(s) in the gallery this week. Til next time friends...hugs and happy crafting! D

ABC39 "Monochromatic Color"

Hello and Happy Monday!! The start of a new week and a new challenge at 'ABC' Challenges.  This week's challenge (ABC39) is to make a card using 1 color of your choice (white doesn't count as a color for this challenge).  That's right, the DT want to see your beautiful Monochromatic Color cards.

The most challenging part of monochromatic cards for me is to first pick which color I want to create with. Then I have to decide what sorts of elements or embellishments I want to add that stays in that color family. My card for this week was made for my darling niece.  I seriously don't know where the time disappeared to.  It seems like not that long ago she was a tiny preemie princess and now she is no longer a teen - makes me a bit teary really.  She is such a beautiful young lady. I wanted to make a card that reflects her a bit so I chose her favorite color for my monochromatic card.

I used a retired embossing folder from SU for the top layer then cut out a window and then layered a second die within that window for the sentiment.   and popped it up a bit with some dimension  dots.  The flowers were an after thought as I felt that the card was too plain and needed some more. I was pleased to find these blue flowers in my stash - sweet! After I made this I wished I had used flat brads for buttons for the flower middles.  But the first thing she did was touch the shiny brads and say "how pretty" - so I'm glad now that I chose them.

What will you make this week for the 'ABC' Challenges - Monochromatic Color theme?  I love visiting your blogs and seeing your beautiful creations each week.  My other lovely DT friends have also made some beautiful cards to share with you. I hope you will pop on over to ABC Challenges to see what they've done and visit them as well.

Til next time friends...hugs and happy crafting! D

Addicted to Stamps and More! CAS #5, CAS-ual Fridays #86, and Paper Players #129 (CAS Sketch)

Hello dear blog friends and followers! Thanks so much for coming by to visit me today - I'm sure glad that you did.  My card today is for Addicted to Stamps and More! CAS #5 .  Many of  you had read me say that CAS is super challenging for me - argh!  But... I must say that I LOVE how this card turned out this week - Whoo Hoo!  I think that I am living proof that if you keep practicing something you will get better.  Not perfect - but better :o).  This darling image is from Bugaboo Digi Stamps who is the sponsor this week at ATS&M.  I colored it with my copic markers. I also used my Stamp-a-MaJig to line up the sentiment (from Stampin Up!) that was in block form (another practice pays off technique).  So far I haven't fallen off the New Year's resolution wagon and am continuing to decorate the inside of my cards as I make them. Here's the sentiment on the inside - one I picked up at a garage sale last year (kind of wish I would have put a brown layer on the inside too - oh well... baby steps):

I used the sketch from The Paper Players Clean and Simple Sketch #129 (see below) to help me make this card.  And I made it longer and narrower than usual so I can enter it in the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #86 (CFC86)" Long and Short" - meaning it has to have one long side and one short side (no standard A2 size this week) - this card is 3 3/4" x 6 ".

Whether you are a CAS master, a practicing CAS cardmaker like me, or a newbie to CAS cards, I really encourage you to check out our challenge this week at Addicted to Stamps and More! and hopefully decide to play along. I would love to come visit your blog and see your lovely creations!  The other ladies on the DT at ATS&M have prepared some more inspiration for you too - won't you go visit them and maybe leave them a note?

Til next time... hugs and happy crafting!  D

Freshly Made Sketches (FMS#49) and Dynamic Duos (DD17)

Hello friends - Happy Monday! This card is based on two great challenges - Freshly Made Sketches #49 and Dynamic Duos #17 - Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush - loving those purples!

This card is 5 1/2 square (I LOVE to make Square cards!).  I used some of my favorite retired DSP called Sweet Shop for the Wisteria Wonder.  I also pulled out and inked up another retired item that I had never used before called "Baby Blossoms" (the flowers).  This is a two step stamp set that is actually surprisingly easy to use (don't know why I never did before now).  First I stamped the shadow part of the flower in Wisteria Wonder and then I stamped on top of that the detailed part in Concord Grape.  I just love how it turned out!  I used three different punches - the modern label punch for the sentiment (one of my favorites), the new mini scallop circle (from the holiday mini) and the 1" circle.  The pretty border is from the finishing touches edgelits - really love the delicate, elegant look of this one.  I layered the reverse side of the polka dot paper behind the punched border so that it would stand out a bit better, and tucked my sentiment down into it a bit.  The sentiment is from another new set called "Sweet Essentials".

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today - I'm so glad that you did!! Please come back again sometime.  'Til next time... Hugs and Happy Crafting!

ATS - Addicted to {Gold} Color Challenge #2 and Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge - Monochromatic Christmas

Hello friends - another quick post today.  I didn't sleep well last night as I was making cards in my head all night.  Do you do that too??  So, instead of starting my housework and laundry as I planned last night, I ran right up to my craft room and put my visions together in real life.  It's frusterating when you want to sleep but sooo much fun when you get up the next morning and the card you made in your head turns out exactly like you envisioned it - like this card did for me :o)

The reason I made this card was to enter it in the ATS Addicted to {Gold} Color Challenge #2. I love to make metalic cards but they are so hard to photograph.  I made my own patterned paper background by stamping the snowflake in gold ink and heat setting it (really tickled with how it turned out!). I lined the cs up against my grid paper so I could eyeball the lines and keep my stamping somewhat straight.   I used a Brushed Gold cardstock base and one layer behind the tree.  I did use gold embossing powder on the tree to give it a bit more dimension and shine.  Wouldn't this be extra pretty with some randomly placed red rhinestones?  Hmmm... should have thought of that earlier (maybe I'll still add them).  I am also entering this in the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge - Monochromatic Christmas.

Well... really must start my housework (drat!) and spend some time with my kiddos :o) It's a beautiful day here so I don't want to be inside all day...well... maybe I would if I could just keep playing :o)  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit - I'm sure glad that you did.  Please come back again soon. Til next time... Hugs and Happy Crafting!

Supplies (all from Stampin Up!): Cardstock - Brushed gold and Basic Black.  Stamp - Snow Swirled. Sentiment - Border Banter (NEW in the Holiday mini catalog) - I masked off two of the "merry" words to put on this space.  Other - versamark ink and gold embossing powder set with a heat gun.

Lollipop Crafts Challenge #85 {Monochromatic} and Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge {photo inspiration}

Hello friends!   You know those 10 minute or less cards that you see in the card magazines?  Well this could easily be one of them as this card took me about 8 minutes to put together.  I used the five little trees across the mantle in the inspiration photo from the Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge as the inspiration for my card.
Since the colors were mostly white and green, I decided to just go with that and use Always Artichoke to make a monochromatic card.  I am also entering this card in the Lollipop Crafts Challenge #85 - Monochromatic.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit - I'm sure glad that you did!  Hope you liked this card - I really enjoyed making it to share with you.  Til next time - Hugs!

Details and supplies (all from Stampin Up!):  Finished card size is 6 3/4" by 3 3/4".  I used a piece of left over glossy white cardstock to stamp my trees on and then matted with a piece of Always Artichoke cardstock before adhereing to the whisper white card base.  The trees are from a retired set called Contemporary Christmas.  The sentiment is from the Curly Cute stamp set.

ATS - Sketch #1, Dynamic Duos #13 and Paper Players #106

Hello friends, I'm so glad you've popped in to visit my blog today!  My dear Daddy is going to be 70 in just a few days.  He loves old cars, trucks and tractors.  I purchased this Tim Holtz stamp to use for his birthday last year and then forgot that I had it until his birthday had passed - so I made a note in the calender for this year to "use old car stamp".  Geeze, you'de think the way my memory is I was the one turning 70 (or older!).

In any event... I found a couple challenges today to help me turn my idea into a card that he will really enjoy.  My card layout is from the sketch by Kylie at Addicted to Stamps - Sketch Challenge #1.  Even though she calls it "a bit unconventional", I liked it the minute I saw it and have several other ideas for what I could do with this sketch (see below).
The colors for this card were inspired by the Dynamic Duos Challenge #13 - Monochromatic (Early Espresso and Crumb Cake) - so perfect for a masculine card, I think, and I also used the Tic Tac Toe board from The Paper Players Challenge #106 (see below).
I'm pretty sure you can figure out two of the items I used for this card (hint... it's the column on the right).  The favorite color is not mine - I like deep pink, but my dad doesn't - lol, so I used my favorite colour to used for masculine cards - dark brown - which is also so conveniently one of the colors for the Dynamic Duos challenge this time ;o)  I don't really know what my Dad's favorite color is -  he has never said but I know he likes to buy black cars and green tractors.  The punches I used on this card are the curly label and a retired gear punch (both from SU).  I punched the small gears out and then spritzed them with brown to create a rusted look.

I sponged around all the edges with Espresso ink to age everything a bit (since Old Guys Rule) to match the style (era) of the truck and the age of the recipient (don't you dare tell him I said so - lol!).    Here's a pic of the inside too (the sentiment is from a Fiskars clear set):
Hope you like today's card and thanks again for stopping in to visit.  Til next time - Hugs!!

MOJO250

Hello friends!  Do not adjust your monitor... there really is that much blue on this card - LOL! If you read down below you'll see why I chose to use blue.

I LOVED the sketch this week from MOJO Monday 250 with all its wonderful layered elements and just had to use it for this card.  I did take a couple small liberties with the sketch by adding a couple extra elements - top flower and extra flower on side to help balance out the blues used and bring in the border a bit.  I used the Bitty Banners Framelits to make two banners and then snipped them in half for my four flags at the bottom.  Those little flags at the bottom were not easy to line up - I got that last one a bit off (in fact as I look at this everything is a bit too far to the right -  so just don't look too hard and you won't notice - wink, wink).

There is a newer challenge called Addicted to Stamps (the name alone made me want to check it out :o) ). I participated in their very first challenge and the challenge this week Addicted to Stamps {BLUE} Challenge #1 is to make a creation using BLUE - so I complied and used LOTS of different blues :o) - I used pacific point, midnight muse, not quite navy, night of navy and island indigo.  However, I missed the deadline for this challenge due to an incorrect time zone conversion on my part.  It said by Tuesday 11:59pm so I thought I was ahead of the deadline.  I missed the part about AEST for the time zone.  Have to be more careful next time.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit - I'm sure glad that you did! Hope you saw something that inspired you today! Hugs!

Supplies (all from Stampin Up!): Cardstock - Pacific Point, Whisper White, and Midnight Muse.  DSP - International Bazaar (new) and Patterns Designers Series Paper Stack (striped navy, regals collection). Sentiment stamp is from Pursuit of Happiness.  Punches used - Boho Blossom (bright blue flowers), scallop circle punch (dark blue) and 2 1/2" circle punch (sentiment).  Sizzix Framelits - Bitty Banners (small flags at the bottom).   I layered a paper daisy on top of the scallop circle punch and added a designer printed brad (island indigo) to the middle.
