52CCT February Stash Challenge - Markers

Hello sweet friends!
I'm a little late with posting my card for
Let me just say it's been a week...
and I'm so glad that the weekend is here!!
This last challenge of February at 52CCT
is to use Markers.  Whoot Whoo LOVE this one!
There are so many different ways to use markers!
You can color an outline image with them, use them to ink up a stamp
in several different colors, or create backgrounds with them.
You can use alcohol-based markers or water-based.
There are lots of possibilities, so let your creativity be your guide!

My DT card for this week uses copic markers (my favorite type of
markers) to color in a digital image that I've had for quite some time.

One of my other favorite things to do is use non-traditional
colors on my Christmas cards - pink being one of them :o)
I have lots of wonky layers a couple die cuts and a bit of paper piercing.
Kind of happy with how it turned out!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
ABC Christmas Challenge - D is for Die cuts
Clear it Out Challenge - Theme: Animals/ Stash: Striped papers
Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge - Non-Traditional Colors
The Crafter's Cafe Challenge #105 - Lots of Layers
The Outlawz - Friday Coloring Challenge Anything Goes/Christmas Twist

I hope that you will decide to join us this week at 52CCT!
The rest of the lovely and talented DT have also made some
gorgeous creations using markers for your inspiration.
Go check them out and say "hi" while your there :o)
Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

52CCT - February Theme Challenge

Hello friends!
It's time for the February Theme Challenge at 52CCT

Here's my DT card to share with you

I hope this photo is okay - it's so hard
to get a good photo of white and metallic.
Once again I decided to go with a CAS look.
I have always admired CAS cards
but used to find them very challenging to make.
Lately I've been embracing the style :o)

Will you decide to join us this week
at 52CCT?  I sure hope so!
My lovely teammates have made some
gorgeous inspiration for you too - so make
sure you stop on over to their blogs and say "hi"!
Til next time... hugs and merry crafting! D

52CCT - February Sketch

Well hello friends - so happy you are here to visit!
After a bit of time off from making Christmas cards
I am back again for the start of a new month

The first Saturday of each month is a sketch challenge
and this sketch is super versatile - take a look:

You can use any shape or image with this sketch
and/or you can flip it on it's side.  Lots of possibilities
and we aren't fussy as long as we can still see the
basics of the sketch on your gorgeous creation.

I found a sticker in my stash that I've had
for literally ages and decided to use it on
a simple card that will be easy to mail.
Thanks to this nice big sticker this was a very quick and easy card
for me to make, which was super helpful as I've had the craziest of
weeks at work this week and still have one more long day to go.
Generally I'm not a sticker kind of gal on my cards, but they sure
can be handy when you want to make something in a pinch
and don't have time to do a lot of stamping or coloring.

I hope that you will decide to join us this week at 52CCT
and share your gorgeous Christmas card(s)
using this great sketch. The other lovely ladies on the
DT have also made some really beautiful Christmas cards
for your inspiration - better go check them out too,
you'll be glad that you did!!

Til next time...hugs and merry crafting! D

52CCT - January 2015 Sketch

Hello friends and followers - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
We are back again at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown (52CCT)
with a whole new slate of challenges for 2015.
There are also some new faces and talent joining the team.
Whoo Hoo - lucky us!!

So let's get this party started with a Sketch Challenge

This should be an easy one to spark your creation.
You can use any shape (doesn't have to be a star)
and  you can flip the orientation if you choose.
Just keep it Christmas - and make sure we can still
see the bones of the sketch.

Here's my DT card using the 52CCT January Sketch

I found this package of wooden ornaments at Target
before Christmas (various shapes and sizes)
for a steal and immediately decided they
would be good for crafting instead of hanging on the tree.
I'm kind of wishing that I had distressed the edges
of this large snowflake a bit now - will have to try that
on the next one I make :o)

I hope that you will decide to join us this week at 52CCT.
The rest of the DT ladies have made some fabulous cards
to share with you using this sketch as well.
Please go visit them and check it out!

I'm entering the following challenges with this card:
Christmas Cards All Year Round - January "Anything Goes/Christmas"
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra - January "Anything Goes"

Til next time lovelies...hugs and merry crafting! D

Nordic Christmas for 52CCT

Hello friends and followers!
I'm here with a bit of a red face as I
realized that I forgot to write up
this post for my reminder card

I made one card and then realized
that I have not completely followed
the December challenge at 52CCT
which is to use ANY previous 2014 challenge.
Oops I had used 2012 and 2013.
I can't very well be a bad example now can I?
So I quickly made a new card
and then forgot to post it here.
DUH-Nielle - LOL.

Anyway...here it is

This time I properly chose a theme challenge from 2014
"Nordic Christmas" and used another fabulous
digital image from our sponsor Deedee's Digis
called Country Christmas (I used a pre-colored version of this).

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me today!
Til next time...hugs and merry crafting! D

52CCT - December Pick A Previous

Hello friends!
A little late with my DT post for this month's
I've been staying up late this whole

a local craft store.  In my mind I had
done my card last week but realized last
night as I was getting ready to dash off to bed
that I had totally soooo forgotten to get it done.
Gulp!!

We are usually at weekly challenge at 52CCT
but since December is such a busy month
we decided to do just one challenge
and give you LOTS of room
for creative choice by

use any theme, color or sketch challenge
in the archives to make a Christmas card creation!
(Please just tell us which one(s) you used).

Here's my DT card to share with you
using a Sketch Challenge from February 2014
and a digital image from our very
generous challenge sponsor - Deedee's Digis.
digital image by Deedee's image - Country Christmas

the edges of my card.  I wonder why I don't do
this technique more often as I love the look of it.

52CCT - Pick a Previous Sketch

Hello dear friends and followers!
I went to work today after eating so much food on Thanksgiving
that I still felt like I was in a bit of a turkey induced stupor.
Why or why do we do that to ourselves?
I guess I shouldn't say "we" and really
own up to the fact that it's probably just me.
Must be those stretchy pants I wear
makes me think I can eat much more
than I really should.
That saying "Gobble til you Wobble"
definitely fit me yesterday :o)

Well since it is the very last Saturday of November
we have the Pick a Previous challenge
for you.  This time we'd like you to
Pick A Previous Sketch

You can use any past sketch to make your
lovely Christmas card.  There is a tab at the
top of the challenge blog with all the previous sketches
for you to choose from.
Pick any one that catches your creative fancy,
and just let us know which one you used.

For my DT card I used a sketch from April 2014

Here's my card:

This one will be easy to mail as I left
it free of all embellishments (gasp!).
I kind of like the simple look of it.
Hope you do too.

Please go check out the beautiful
creations made by my lovely DT pals
at 52CCT this week.  I hope  you are
so inspired that you just have to go
make a card and join the challenge.

Next month we will have a special sponsor for
our December challenges.  Make sure you check back
then too to see who it is and hopefully join the fun.

52CCT - November Technique Challenge - Paper Piercing

Hello sweet friends and followers,
I'm happy you're here today to visit me.

It's time for another weekly challenge
at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown
it's the last one of November
and it's a technique challenge

Here's my DT card for this challenge:
Stamp and sentiment from "Ugly Sweaters" by Your Next Stamp

My piercing is around the red portion of the circle
(unfortunately it doesn't show up really well in the photo).

I did a little masking so the sweater sleeves
are overlapping each other a bit.
I drew a circle around the inside of the
first circle die so I could see where the
sleeves should extend beyond the edge of the circle.
Then I cut just those parts with my scissors and
put the circle die back on with the sleeves on
the outside of the frame and ran it through my Big Shot
to get the circle shape that the sweaters are on.
Next time I'll try a little smaller sweater
(now that I know how to do it).

I hope that  you will go check out the creations by
the rest of the talented team at 52CCT
and then decide to join us this week too.
Grab that piercing tool and get to poking!

I'd also like to enter my card in the following challenges:
Your Next Stamp Challenge #2 Sketch or Color (I used the Sketch)
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for November - AG
Love to Create Challenge #142 - Make it For Christmas
Penny's Paper-Crafting Challenge #204 - Anything Goes
Winter Wonderland - Let's Get Sentimental
Stamping Sensations November Challenge - Christmas
Creative Knockouts #64 - Bling is the Thing - Crafty Sentiments

Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

52CCT - November Theme Challenge "Christmas Window"

Hello and happy weekend!
We've had several cold days in a row here
which makes me want to just cuddle up and eat comfort food.
I'm planning to make a big batch of lasagna
this weekend to enjoy with my favorite wine.
I might even watch a movie and just completely "chill"
Ha haha - did you get my play on words?
Doesn't that sound heavenly?

So enough about that...how about a
look at my DT card for the challenge
this week for 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown (52CCT).
52CCT November Theme Challenge is "Christmas Window"
and here's my card:

I kept the style clean with minimal embellishments so that
the brick embossing would stand out behind this
super cute Santa peeking through the window.
I wonder...does he come through the window
when there is no chimney?

I am entering this card in the following great challenges:
Stamping Sensations - November challenge - Simply Christmas
Crafty Catz Challenge #255 - Christmas is Coming
Christmas Cards All Year Round - November - No patterned paper
Alphabet Challenge Blog - T for Traditional Christmas
Addicted to Stamps and More! Challenge #121 - Anything Goes

52CCT - November Color Challenge

Hello dear friends and followers.
The clock is ticking down to Christmas...
are you making cards to send out?

With the help of my DT duties on
I have a good stash ready to go already :o)

This second week of November 2014
the challenge at 52CCT is a Color Challenge
take a look:

The colors are Red and Green (very traditional)
and your choice of either Gold OR Silver.
You can use cream or white in addition to the colors
and black for outlines of images - but other than that
please stick to the colors noted.

I had kind of a crazy week that didn't allow for much
crafting so I kept to a CAS style card - here it is:

I found a stamp set in my basket that I had never used
with this tree on it and the thought for my card
popped right into my head.  I added some left over
gold enamel dots (love these things) to the tree
and a strip of embossed card stock to represent snow.
Quick and easy this week :o)

I am entering my card in the following challenges:
Christmas Cards All Year Round - No Patterned Paper
Addicted to Stamps and More! - Photo Inspiration

Please go visit my lovely DT pals over at 52CCT to see their
lovely creations for this Color Challenge.
I hope to see your card in the gallery too!
Til next time...hugs and happy crafting! D

Christmas Charm - 52CCT November Sketch & MTTC #265 "Charmed"

Happy weekend sweet friends and followers!
This week the stars aligned for me creatively and
I was able to combine my two DT challenges into
one card. Kind of nice when that happens :o)

I'm in a Christmas mood and getting very, very close
to having my stash of Christmas cards done
and ready to go for 2014 - yay me!

If you are just getting started on your Christmas cards
for the season these two challenges might give your
creativity a jump start.

The challenge this first week of November at
is this fabulous sketch

and the challenge at My Time to Craft (MTTC)
is "Charmed". So for MTTC #265, We want to see
a charm on your beautiful creation.

Are you ready to see how I combined these two challenges?
Here it is:
Digital image by Sassy Cheryl's Stamps - "Snow Much Love"

If this image doesn't make you say "awwww"
I'm not sure what's wrong with ya' - JK :o)
Seriously though I came across it and just couldn't resist it.

I decided to do something a bit unusual for me
and use neutral and warm colors rather than the
bright and somewhat non-traditional
colors I seem to favor.

I used a new embossing strip that I got free
recently with my purchase of a cardmaking magazine.
Really love how this turned out!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Creative Card Crew #73 - Bows
Festive Friday #43 - photo inspiration

Jingle Belles Challenges - Not a Creature was stirring
Penny's Paper Crafting Challenges #201 - Anything Goes
The Outlawz - Friday Coloring Challenges - AG w/Christmas twist
Sassy Cheryl's Neighborhood - November Challenge - AG

I hope that I've inspired you to play along with us this week
at either/or 52CCT November Sketch Challenge
& MTTC #265 - Charmed.
My lovely and talent DT pals at each of these challenges
have made some amazing creations to further inspire you.
Won't you go visit them and see?

52CCT - October Stash Challenge - Enamel Dots

Hello to my wonderful crafty friends.
Hope life is treating you well :o)

Just got back from the movie theater so am
kind of scurrying to get my post done in time for this
next weekly challenge at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.
We saw "The Judge" with Robert Downey Jr. and
Robert Duval.  It was so good!!
And "oh my be still my heart"...that Robert Downey Jr.
is still such a babe. Those brown eyes of his just make me melt.

Ooops..I digress! You probably would like to know what the challenge is!
This week at 52CCT we have an Stash Challenge for you
Oooohhh this one is right up my alley. I LOVE to use
enamel dots and candy dots on my cards.
I'll just bet there are plenty of you crafters out there
that also have a stash of enamel dots to use.

Here's my card to inspire you this week:

I rescued this card base from last week.  I had started
with washi tape for my one layer card and then I just wasn't
feeling it.  This week I added a house  from my new stamp set
called Homemade Holidays and the coordinating die (Stampin' Up!).

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Addicted to Stamps and More! - Challenge #118 Holiday
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for October
CASology - Home (I hope this qualifies as CAS)

The rest of the lovely team at 52CCT have also
made some wonderful creations to inspire you to play along
with us this week.  Please go visit them and say "hi".
I hope to see your card in the gallery soon!

52CCT - October Recipe Challenge - One Layer Card

Hello friends!
Time for another challenge at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown (52CCT)
Our challenge this week has three little words that strike fear in my crafter's heart
ONE LAYER CARD.
Oh boy...I must admit that this is my least favorite type of card to make.
But there's a reason we call it a challenge - to push our creative styles
and sometimes the challenges are harder for me than they seem to be for you.

So...enough whining...I rose to the challenge and this is what I made.

I stamped with three different blues starting with the
lightest and working my way to darkest.
Kind of reminds me of a blizzard - LOL.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Sister Act #79 - Anything Goes

I hope that you will decide to join us this week at 52CCT
and share your One Layer Christmas Cards with us.
My teamies at 52CCT have made some amazing
one layer cards to share with you.  Please go check them out!

52CCT October Color Challenge

Hello friends - happy weekend!!
This week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - 52CCT
we have a color challenge for you.
Take a look at this fun palette:

I used the pinks, the lighter blue and green for my card

The image and sentiment are from a new release digital set
at Deedee's Digis called "Ugly Sweaters". I hand-drew the wonky frame
around the sentiment so that it would stand out a bit more.
I colored it up with my Stampin' Blendabilities markers
in Melon Mambo (light & medium), Old Olive (light & medium)
and Coastal Cabana (light & medium).

This is a tall and skinny card measuring 3 1/2" x 7 ".
I kept it flat  (no embellishments) so that it will be easy to send out.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafting from the Heart #39 - Anything Goes
Jingle Belles  - Pink Christmas (noticeable amount of pink)
Paper Pretties PWC331 - CAS
Sister Act Card Challenge #78 - Anything Goes (sponsored by Deedee's Digis)

My lovely 52CCT DT pals have also made some wonderful
Christmas cards to share with you using this fun color combo.
Please go check them out and say "hi" while you're there.
I hope you will decide to join us this week.
I can't wait to see what you make!!
Til next time...hugs and merry crafting! D

52CCT - September Embellishment Challenge "Diamonds & Pearls"

Hello friends - happy weekend to you!
Since it is the last month of September we have a embellishment challenge
for you over at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown (52CCT)!

I must admit...this one threw me a bit out of my comfort zone.
I just kept thinking that I needed to make something really elegant
and that is not my usual style.  I stewed and fretted off and on all week
but my MOJO just wasn't there.  Finally I decided to dig
through my stash to see if something might inspire me.
First I found lots of different stars and then
I found these great rhinestone (diamonds) swirls.
Suddenly an idea began to form in my poor befuddled brain.

Here's what I came up with finally - take a look:

So that wasn't so bad...I made it way harder than I needed to.
I think I was just under too much stress from work this week
to even try to think creatively.  In any event, I'll just bet
that you already have some fabulous ideas for a
Christmas card using diamonds and pearls.

My lovely 52CCT teammates have made some really
gorgeous cards to share with you. Please go visit them and say "hi".
I hope you will decide to join us this week. I can't wait to see what you make!

Til next time...hugs and merry crafting! D

52CCT - September Theme Challenge - Nordic Christmas

Ho Ho Ho - a happy Christmas hello to you my crafty friends.
Did you know that Christmas is closer than you think?
Do you have your Christmas cards started?
If the answer to both of those questions is "nope" then
we at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown (52CCT) can help you out.

This week's challenge at 52CCT is Nordic Christmas
and if you play along you will be one (or more) cards closer to being
ready for Christmas in a couple months.

I wasn't sure exactly what Nordic Christmas meant so I asked our
lovely hostess Asha to help define it:
It's rustic, minimalist, cool and cozy at the same time.
Lots of Natural / Neutral Colours - wood, black and white, kraft, wheat.
Accent colour - Red tends to be most popular choice.  Green or Blue are alternative colours but avoid all using three unless you have lots of neutral colours / space to maintain the uncluttered feel.
Texture - natural fabric, wood / straw accessories, tree branches, pine cones.
The Look: simple homespun.
Minimalism is the motto but not necessarily extreme CAS. The designs tend to be simple and not overly embellished.

So, based on that information - here's what I came up with:

I think I got it.  I used red paper with a pattern of reindeer, hearts and holly,
the design is quite simple (no frills) and uses a natural element of
linen ribbon and straw (in the image).

The image and sentiment are from a darling digital stamp set
called "Away in a Manager"
by  our wonderful sponsor this week - Deedee's Digis.
Help spread the word!

It was fun learning about this style and I have lots of other ideas
to try now. Thanks Asha for a great idea!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
ABC Christmas Challenges - S for Something Festive
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra for September  - AG.

week to inspire you just click HERE.
I hope to see your card in our gallery this week!

52CCT - September 2014 Color Challenge {Warm Winter Wishes}

Hello dear friends and followers - happy weekend!
This 2nd week of September our hostess at 52CCT, Asha,
has chosen a terrific COLOR Challenge

To help you interpret this chart we want you to use
Red  OR  Blue  +  Black  AND  White  +  Silver  OR  Gold.

You may use various shades of Red (such as burgundy, poppy, crimson, scarlet, excluding pink) OR Blue (royal blue, sky blue, cornflower blue, navy excluding purple).

We have a fabulous sponsor this week again - Deedee's Digis -
and some of the team will be using digi images on their cards.

I chose to use Red, Black and White and Gold
with one of Deedee's darling images called "Snowman Tags".
Take a look:

I did something that I seldom do...
hand wrote my sentiment.
Hmmm...not too sure about that part, but it's done so I'll be okay with it.
Thankfully I'm happy with how the rest of the card turned out :o)

I'm entering the following challenges with my card:
MOJO Monday #362 (sketch)
Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge Choose R or E or D
(My R is the color red, E for embossing and D for die (heart))
