Chris Rock once joked that Michael Jackson showed up to court dressed like Cap'n Crunch. He obviously never played any of the Ace Attorney series, where the King of Pop's outfits would fit right in alongside circus clowns, psychics, and dominatrix-like prosecutors. One of the most famous characters in that universe, the cravat-donning Miles Edgeworth, is finally getting his own game. Hardcore Ace Attorney fans probably knew that Capcom was planning a new installment for DS, but there's a bigger surprise at hand: Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is coming much sooner than you think. As in, you won't have to wait a year after for an English-language version; it's coming in Q4 of this year.
The trailer seems to follow all of the criteria for a new Ace Attorney game. Exciting gameplay features punctuated with exclamation points? Check. Weird title next to each character's name? Yep. Use of trademark catchphrases? Indeed. Check out the screen gallery and look for it later this year.
Sterling says: I don't broadcast my love for a game series very often, but I love Ace Attorney. Confession time: One year for Halloween, I dressed up at "Phroe-nix Wright: Ace Attorney," complete with "Objection!" and "Take That!" sewn under the sleeves of my jacket. It was one of those jokes that just snowballed into something really big.
But seriously, the release date is huge news. If you're a fan of the series, you might remember that Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney came to the States a year after the Japanese version. I'm glad to see that the series has become popular enough in the West that Capcom has invested in simultaneous localization so that the delay is only a few months, rather than a year.
It's enough to make me wanna get up and dance.
