Mini succulents kit

Hey, what's up, dogs?  Sorry it's been a while since my last blog entry...due to the pandemic, my human hasn't taken me on a lot of adventures recently.  Fortunately, our friend Ajdin sent me a Mini Succulent Terrarium Craft Kit quite some time ago, and I think assembling it will make a perfect blog post for today.

Looks like I might need some help.  Gonna recruit Patch, Spunky, and Grandpa Angus for this one.

Nice job guys!  These will look great on our bookshelf.  Thanks for sending it to us Ajdin!

Stuffie Olympics, Summer 2020

Hey, what's up, dogs?  Droop's Troop here (thanks for that name Sandy!), about to compete in the 2020 Summer Stuffie Olympics, sponsored by our friend Ajdin.

Team Droopy's event today is the 1 Meter Stuffie Mail Speedreading Relay, and our team is comprised of myself, Spunky, and Patch.  All of us are strong readers with extensive training.  Right, Patch?  How long have you been reading?

"Uh...ever since I learned how," replied Patch.

You see?  I told you.  A lifetime of experience.  How are you feeling, Spunky?  Any nerves at the thought of leading us off?

"A little bit, but overall I'm feeling good," said Spunky.  "I just want to get this over with."

Man, I know what you mean.  As for myself, I'm nervous.  Years of training for a competition that lasts just minutes!  So much pressure to perform!

"You'll do fine, lads," Coach McStuffie assured us.  "Just do what you did in practice.  Deep breaths.  Watch those handoffs.  And don't forget to have fun."

Thanks, Coach.  I needed that pep talk.  All right, is everyone prepped?  Okay, Spunky...ready...set...GO!

Wow.  Look at him go.  Perfect form!  Here comes the handoff...

"I'm done!" Spunky said.

I'm done too!  Come on Patch, bring it on home,  buddy.  You can do it!

"Aaaaaaand....done," Patch announced, placing the last piece of mail in the pile.
What a dismount!  And he stuck the landing!

"Well done, me lads!" Coach McStuffie beamed.
"That was great!" Spunky exclaimed.  "I don't think it could have gone any better."

Me neither!  Whew, I've worked up a sweat though.  Time to hit the showers while we await the other competitors' performances...

How does my garden grow?...

Hey, what's up, dogs?  I'm here to update you on our attempt to keep our orchids alive.  On that note...sadly, we had to say goodbye to them.  They were not doing well (yellowing leaves and zombified roots) and were starting to attract bugs.

A little depressing, but apparently orchids are quite finicky.  No matter...my human and I learned a lot about their care, which will help us if we should get another orchid in the future.

This experience did inspire my kennelmates and me to try our green paws at growing some easier plants, though.  Here's Spunky and Patch showing off their Green Onion Science Project.  My human saved the roots of some green onions just a few days ago.  These things grow super fast in nothing but water!
Grandpa Angus has a gardening project as well...he started some mint seeds in a pot several weeks ago, and they're growing, albeit slowly.

What else you got there, Grandpa?

"Well, laddie, since I've got me mint growing, I thought I'd also try growing some lemon balm.  Makes a good tea, I've heard.  And I'm going to start some chives, for cooking."
And here's my personal project, Mr. Avocado Pit.  As you can see in the close-up, he's sprouted a good-sized root and is beginning to produce a stem up top!  It took a long time, but it's been very exciting to see progress.

This gardening stuff is kind of fun.  I can see why my blog friends like it!  I only wish it had less to do with fruits and vegetables, and more to do with bacon.  Anyway...till next time...

Movies

Hey, what's up dogs!  It's one of those cozy, lazy afternoons, and...Mmmm.  Do I smell...popcorn?

"Hey, do you guys want to watch a movie?"  Spunky asked.

Yeah!  That sounds like a great idea.  Which one were you thinking of, Spunk?

"Well ...this one's always been one of my favorites," Spunky said.

Patch's eyes bugged out.

"Oh, no," he whimpered.  "Way too scary.  Too many monsters and guns and explosions.  I'll have nightmares."

"Okay, okay," Spunky said.  "Not that one."  He rummaged around in our human's video collection.  "How about this one instead?"

"That's a good one, lads," Grandma began.  "A swashbuckling adventure, for certain."

"Unh-unh," Patch shook his head.  "Way too scary.  Too many swordfights and guns and explosions.  I'll have nightmares."

Spunky stared hard at Patch, sighed, and rummaged through the collection once more.

You don't do well with scary movies, huh, Patch?

"No," Patch said apologetically.  "I guess I'm kind of a fraidy-dog."

Don't say that.  We just have to find something that we can all watch together.  Okay...here comes Spunky.

"All right," Spunky said.  "This is the most non-threatening movie I could find in the video stash.  What do you think, Patch?"

"Err..." Patch hesitated.  "I--I guess that'll work.  I'll just cover my eyes when the arrows are about to hit."

Wow.  Choosing a movie we could all watch was more difficult than I thought it would be.  I had no idea Patch was so...easily affected by these things.  But anyway...let's dish up that popcorn and dim the lights, everybody!

See you next time!

What breed of dog am I?...

Hey, what's up, dogs?  Today we happened to be browsing the Internet and came across a picture that looked remarkably like Patch:

The caption read: "English Springer Spaniel."

Patch!  You're English?

"Err...I guess so," Patch said.

How do you feel about crumpets and tea?

Patch looked confused.  "What's that?"

A type of snack.

"Oh.  Then I'm in favor of it."

This got me wondering:  What breed of dog is Spunky?  Obviously he's a miniature--

"STOP.  RIGHT.  THERE," Spunky warned.

Oops.  Heh-heh...Sorry.

And then there's me.  I have to admit, I have something of an identity crisis.  I've never been able to figure out what breed of dog I am.  I do like fire trucks...maybe I'm a spotless Dalmatian?...

If anybody has any ideas on what breed of dog I am, please leave your insights in the comments below.
Thanks!

A guest host, and caffeine overload

...know why I have to do it.  Why can't you ask Spunky to--

(Psst, Patch!)

What?

(We're rolling!  You're on the air!)

What?!?

Oh.  Oh, er, um.  Hello there.  Everyone.  How are you...today?  I am fine.

(No, no.  You're supposed to say, "What's up, dogs?")

Oh.  Okay.  Er...What's up.  Dogs.
...Sorry.  I'm not good at this.

(You're doing fine.  Just relax.)

Uh...what should I say now?

(Why don't you explain why you're guest hosting the blog today?)

Oh.  Right.  Well, you see, ordinarily it would be Droopy here in front of the camera, but he's, um...

Oh man.  What's that word again?

(What word?)

You know, the big long word that means you're sick. Starts with an "I"?

(Incapacitated?  Inebriated?  Indisposed?)

 Indisposed!  That's it.

(Actually, come to think of it, "inebriated" works well in this case, too.)

Inebriated?  What does that mean?

(Drunk.)

Oh.  Yeah, I guess you're right.

Ahem.  Well, you see, a while back, we got a cappuccino drink pack in the mail from Little Fox...

...and our human decided to try it.  So she brewed up a nice cup of joe...

Er...sorry about that.  And then she left it out on the counter.  Unattended. Which, if you ask me, was not a very good idea.

(Hey!  It was only for a minute.  I had to answer the phone!)

I'm just calling it like I see it.

(Whatever.  Let's move on.  A little less editorializing, okay?)

Anyway...to make a long story short, Droopy decided to try the cappuccino too.

And as you can see, he's now completely off the wall.  Our human says it's from the caffeine.  That's why I had to fill in for him today.

Err...how long do you think it'll be before the caffeine wears off?

(No idea.  Could be hours.  Could be days.)

Oh dear.  Well, um...that's the end of the story, so I guess I'll be signing off now.  Don't worry...I'm sure Droopy will be back to normal the next time you hear from us.  I mean, I hope....
