Who Are You?

Hi Everyone!  I recently snagged the newest collection from Paint  Box Polish. The 12 Collection is based off of the 12th Doctor in  Doctor Who.   This collection is stunning!! Seriously EVERY SINGLE POLISH IN THIS COLLECTION IS AMAZING!  There are a couple of multichromes, a matte, a to die for shimmer and the most glorious chunky holo flakies with red shimmer polish.  I am so glad I snagged this entire collection!

I started off with Who Are You? because it's a multichrome and let's face it I adore multichromes. So the good news is I have lots of great pics! The bad news is I didn't get any bottle shots LOL!

Who Are You? is a multichrome that shifts from deep teal to bright violet and it also has micro silver flakes in it which makes it super gorgeous! I snagged a copy of the bottle shot from the website
I wore it and about died so you know the next day I  HAD to stamp  over it.  Lucky for me the conference room where I walk every day helped to create an amazing shift!

Isn't this amazing?!

Some of my coworkers could not believe this was just one polish!
Some people thought my gradient was wicked cool

Some said it looked like the Northern Lights but I do believe the little silver flakies in here had a lot to do with that
Here's the vibrant violet shift
Really amazing!

Here's the deep teal again just gorgeous!

I stamped using one of my favorite plates from Born Pretty Store BPS BP-L011.  A few of my friends said they thought my mani was very HP.  I wouldn't know about that I simply wanted to do a mani which reminded me of UP NORTH in Wisconsin

The 12 Collection is still available over at Paint Box Polish 5 really fabulous polishes in this collection all unique and very different from each other
I've worn almost every one and have done some amazing nail art with them too. If you haven't tried Paint Box Polish yet you should definitely check them out!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Hang In There!

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday!  So I've decided do something about my health and my weight. The years between my sister's terminal cancer diagnosis and the year after she died I gained over 120lbs.  Sad by true.  I've always had problems with my weight and have successfully lost almost 100lbs twice in my life and here I am working on lucky number 3.  Before Lisa died I was doing low carb for about 2 years and had gotten down from 280 to 200 and then we found out her cancer had again returned and was terminal.  Between that year--2009 and 2010 I gained all that I had lost and more.  I'm a depressive eater and believe you me no one says salad makes them happy.  Mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken & dumplings, tapioca pudding, mac n cheese those are the things that make me happy.  So that's what I ate and ate and ate and ate and soon here I was heavier than I had ever been at over 300lbs.  For the longest time I didn't care.  I didn't care it happened to me again, I didn't care I knew better and shouldn't have let it happen.  But then slowly things in my life started to level out and I realized how lucky I am at my age--53 and my size 323lbs I didn't have diabetes like my father had or like his mother my grandmother had.  I was lucky I still had my gall bladder.  I was lucky I didn't have high blood pressure.  And honestly how long was that going to last??? I am like a ticking time bomb for some serious health issues to hit.  So I could either just give up and be old and fat or I could do something again about my weight.

So I started back on low carb.  Which as a blood type of 0- works really well.  It's actually not difficult for me at all to do low carb even though all my comfort foods are high carb foods.  In February I started following a low carb lifestyle again and in April I started walking.  Walking is hard for someone who is large like me and it hurt like hell.  I started by simply walking around my office once every hour.  Then I started going into our huge warehouse and walking that every hour.  Then I started going in early in the mornings so I could walk around the warehouse twice.  I graduated to walking around the warehouse several times on lunch and on Saturday I did my first 4k walk in forever.  I wanted to do it very badly and even though I had only been able to go for 35 mins at one time I was successful on Saturday.  I did the whole 4k AND I didn't come in last!  I had A LOT of support from my family and friends.  Even though I was pretty wiped out on Saturday I walked a mile on Sunday and today for lunch I walked two miles.  It's hard and it's hot and it's sweaty as hell which is so gross but I'm doing it.

I'm doing it because I have to.

I'm doing it because I need to.

I'm down 29 lbs I still have a long way to go.  I'd like to only weigh 200 lbs for my niece's wedding June 2017.  If I don't make it, I don't make it but it's not going to stop me from trying.

I have to give myself these little pep talks so last night I decided to do this really cute little "Hang In There" mani
How cute is this??  Born Pretty Store BP-59 over OPI Susi Says Feng Shui and Kiko 655
I topcoated my Kiko because I need to have glitter in my textured polish LOL!
Even though all I've been doing isn't easy I keep saying to myself "just hang in there" I can do it I just need to stay focused.

To anyone fighting the fight against obesity and working on getting healthy--HANG IN THERE!

On behalf of a grateful Nation

My thoughts are always somber on Memorial Day.  Men and women who I did not know and who did not know me gave up their lives so that I might continue to live in a free country.  We say we celebrate this day but do you really celebrate a day dedicated to the men and women who died in active duty during war?  Should you celebrate a day such as this? I am honored and humbled and grateful.  Today I show my appreciation in a way I know I can expressing it through my nail art
My red is not true in this picture as I always have trouble capturing red with my camera. My non accent nails are painted with Louboutin Rouge. My accent nails are done with sharpies and black Mundo for the stamping
I used mostly MM38 for the stamping but also pulled pieces of tips off of trees on BP-L011 as well as MM38.  It was a labor of love LOL

I found a picture online and that's what inspired me to do this mani.  I love the unconventional look to this very patriotic mani.
To those of you who lost a loved one while serving for the United States of America my heart is with you today.  I am sorry for your loss, I am grateful for the sacrifice and I will never forget.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Whimsy--Owls!

Hi Everyone!  Oh thank goodness we are halfway through this Whimsy week!  It's really a struggle for me I tell ya.  I had a couple of good friends looking out for me when the Vivid Lacquer plate I need for 1 mani was available for sale in a FB group and even though I was far from home my sweet friends Arlene and Tara were all over that post so I wouldn't miss it.  Arlene snagged it for me and had them ship it to me.  I wanted it for an entirely different reason but the more I looked at it the more  this idea came to me.  Instead of some cherry blossoms on tree branches I thought about how it would look to put a bunch of cute owls in the tree and this is what I came up with
I used the cooky tree branches from VL019 and then I did a whole lotta owl decals from BP54
I think it's pretty cute, hopefully it's also Whimsical
My base is my fave blue ever Paint Box Polish's Won't The Muggles See Us? and I stamped with a lot of various Mundo colors
What do you think????

The Digit-al Dozen Does Whimsy--If Your Friends Jumped Off A Bridge AKA Mermaid!

Hi Everyone!! Happy Monday!  I am dying tonight because I've had the chance to see what so  many of my fellow Digit-al Dozeners have done today.  I was going to post my mermaid mani on Friday but then when I saw so many of us do mermaid today I HAD to change my line up LOL.  I mean come on Whimsy--what the freaking french is whimsy for cry loud?  It was definitely not my choice.  I'm not very whimsical nor am I a cutesy cutesy kind of gal but I knew for certain mermaids were whimsical so it was the first mani I'd done in preparation for this week LOL

Mine isn't really as spectacular as everyone else's mainly because I just wanted my polish to shine through I guess okay and the fact I can't find where I put my shells or pearls after the move ahaha.

So to answer the age old question "if your friends jumped off of a bridge would you too?" and I guess my answer is yes because here's my mermaid mani

My base is the standard Zoya Charla and I topped with with a little Sally Girl I found ages ago for some extra sparkle
Honest to god I could wear a mermaid mani every single day

I used BP-L003 for stamping and really love this type of mermaid scale look
My nails are SOOOOO long right now but I'd be crazy to file them down during a DD week!
I know this week is going to be very challenging for me but I came up with a cute idea during a fail I had so let's hope we see this cute idea as a success later on in the week!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Gradient--Matchy Matchy Spikes!

Hi Everyone!  I really wanted to think outside the box for this week's Gradient theme.  I mean everyone knows what a gradient is, these days I'm pretty sure everyone has done a gradient for a mani and I think we all know I have done a ton of gradients on my nails.  So for today I really wanted to do something different.  I got an idea to try to do a spiked gradient as I was inspired by a purse I have. I'm happy to report that YES you can do a spiked gradient!

For this mani I used a basecoat of the very lovely What 'Choo Fell Over For by Paintbox Polish.  I stamped with Born Pretty Store BPL-006 and also Mash 29 with my trust Mundo Black
How fierce is this?????
I used a few different size and color spikes for my gradient accent nail
This is the cute purse I have I tried to match
If it wasn't super late at night I'd have my son snap a picture of me modeling it but it's WAY late
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.  Right now I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to go to bed with this on and wake up with it still on LOL!
All I can say is no one better hack me off tomorrow or they will be sorry ahahaha!

What do you think?  Is this something you could wear??

My woodland adventure

Hi Everyone!  Happy Friday! Happy Friday! Happy Friday!  Woot! It's finally here!  It was a really nice and sunny day today albeit not hot at all.  In fact I don't know if we even hit 70 degrees here today.  I'm not sure what season we are in it's not really summer then again it's not really spring LOL!

Today I have another scenery mani to show off.   I think this one turned out really cute and we all know I don't really do cute too often!
I used my Born Pretty Store BP-L011 for this mani it's an adorable plate!
Check out the little hedgie on my thumb!
um don't mind the garbage disposal in the sink LOL I did this mani last weekend with the gals and didn't have my normal lighting!
I love the woods Up North as much as I love squirrels and deer and foxes and cute hedgies!

I find I really enjoy doing a full scene mani.  I like being able to tell a story as much as I love reading stories!

Thanks for stopping by!! Hope you all have a fantastic day!!

In hurry? No worries part 3!!

Hi Everyone!! Happy Friday!  I have one more easy 30 minute mani to show you today and I'm excited about this one.  Today I am featuring an Elevation I finally bought (only 5 months later) and one of my all time favorite Born Pretty Store plates!
This is just so gorgeous a berry scattered holo with charcoal flakies
I love the name too! Although living in Wisconsin  we see pines and not palms here LOL!
And check out my stamping!!!
Yassssss it is the coveted Born Pretty Store BP-41
I wasn't sure what color to stamp over it to be honest with you.  My first thought was black, my friend Ashley said no not black!  Then she suggested pink so I went with the always bright and cheerful Mexican Pink from Mundo de Unas
Everyone seems to love this plate because it easily mimics a water marble or needle drag image.
I really love how this one turned out!

So there you have it the flash challenge ended yesterday and I was able to get 3 mani's in all of them under 30 minutes.  Prove to me and hopefully to others you can do something really awesome with limited time.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

In a hurry? No worries part 2!

Hi Everyone!  I've got another 30 minute manicure from the Advanced Nail Stamping Group's latest challenge.  This one is SOOOOOO pretty.  I decided to copy my whole "start with a great base" idea from yesterday so I chose the gorgeous Darling Diva Are You Medusa? Because You Make Me Rock Hard! and then just do some simple stamping over it.  Again just because you know how to do more doesn't always mean you should.  This is another simple stamping mani that took me less than 30 minutes to do and it's gorgeous!
Medusa is a gorgeous cherry red scattered holo.  I love bases like this, it's like they glow from within!
I wanted to let this beautiful base show as much as possible so simple stamping was what I wanted.
I really love my Born Pretty Store BP-L003 plate so it was a no brainer to grab this and then stamp with my fave gold China Glaze Passion
GLOWY!!!!!!! Gorgeous and glowy!
Another winner with this manicure for sure
And because Medusa is darn close to a one coater this took less time than yesterday's mani!
What do you think???? Isn't this just gorgeous?

Hope everyone is having a great day!  Thanks for stopping in!
