Digital Two For Tuesday 32

This week I have two very different images for you. They are from a very old book called Santa Claus from the 1880's. There are so many fun line drawings in this book. I just love the frog images. You can do so much with them. Hopefully, I will find some time to photograph my cards from this week's images and post them on my site Paper Flowers. I'm so busy posting images I never get around to photographing my projects.
Ok, so our guest designers never cease to amaze me and this week's hostess Kym is no exception. I gave her two very diverse images and she created two very exciting cards. Here is her bio in her own words. "My name is Kym and I am a wife and mum to two boys aged 17 and 13. I took up cardmaking in December 2004 by cutting up my previous years’ Christmas cards, sticking on a card and adding an embellishment. I cringe when I think back then and that I gave these kinds of cards to people!! In January 2005 I was in hospital for 7 weeks and then off sick a grand total of 11 months. It was during that time off I came across Dawn Bibby and her shows helped me through a difficult time. It also made me decide that all the cards I make I would give 50% of everything made to charity. I have come a long way card-wise since then and at the beginning of December I celebrated raising £1,000 for many different charities in 4 years by the selling of my cards. That was a highlight for me in 2009 and another one was that I actually got to meet Dawn Bibby in her shop when my husband took me away for my 40th birthday. It made the time away even more special. I so enjoy making my cards and enjoy taking part in challenges as I am always being taken away from my comfort zone. This is my first ever guest appearance and I feel very proud and excited. I hope you like what I have made for you. If you would like to see more please visit me at http://kyms-crafty-cards.blogspot.com/"

The image has been imported into My Craft Studio (MCS) and I put some frames around it and a backing sheet from Walk in Wonderland and printed out. The image I coloured in with Promarkers and used Sakura Clear Stardust pen (no700) to accent the image in places and I did some faux stitching around the edges of the frames. I rubbed a piece of Coredinations card stock with an emery board to age/distress and then scraped along the edge with a craft knife to distress it/make it ragged. I did the same with the digital image sheet. The Coredinations card stock I stamped around with a Kay Carley flourish stamp and Crimsen Red Versafine. I then wet the edges of both sheets with Versamark then put on gold embossing powder and heated it up. I then put the card together with a bow pinched from a box of chocolates we haven’t even eaten yet (don’t tell on me!!!), some glittery gemstones, some card candy and finally some lace with was originally white but didn’t fit in with the colour scheme so I coloured in with my Umber Promarker.

I found four different but toning backing colours in My Craft Studio and layered it all up. I added a flourish in each corner and then placed the flower image in the middle. I then printed it out and coloured in the image with Promarkers using a mixture of pinks/light purples for the flowers and I used a gold Sakura pen for the stamens. I then printed out the backing paper from an Artylicious Damask Delights CD onto a purple pearlescent paper which made it very faint but this was the effect I wanted. The main image was decoupage and then put on some gold mirror card and 3d foam pads to elevate for more dimension. The card was then finished off with some card candy, a ticket sentiment and some purple fibres.

Digital Two for Tuesday 31

This week's exciting guest designer Debbi Harris is from South Africa. She has an amazing use of color and texture in her work. I love all the accents she adds to her cards. Here is her bio in her own words."This is my first guest appearance which I am thrilled about. I am a proud wife and Mom to 2 gorgeous children. My son Nic is 13 years old and daughter, Sasha is 11 years. I live in fabulous, sunny Cape Town in South Africa. Rubber Stamping has been a passion of mine for the past 14 years and I have hosted many swaps on our South African Internet group. I enjoy making cards, ATC's, Inchies, Twinchies, Moo's and chunky books. My blog is http://dkhdesigns.blogspot.com/ if you would like to see more of my artwork, please leave a comment if you visit."

I have coloured the image with Aquarelle pencils blended with a Dove blender and embellished with flock and Stickles glitter glue. The background has been sponged with Distress Ink Antique Linen using Inkssentials Ink blending tool. All the edges of the layers of card have been sponged with Brilliance Pearlescent chocolate. The image is mounted onto brown card and then onto 2 layers of scrapbook paper and then matted onto another layer of the brown and finally onto a cream folded card. The card is finished off with a cellphone sticker.

Digital Two for Tuesday 30

This week we have two more images from the vintage storybook "The Betty Fairy Book" dated 1915. The pictures are by Margaret Evans Price. Our guest designer this week is Tiffany. She has made two spectacular cards. I love her use of color and texture. Here is her bio in her own words. "I'm a proud wife and mother. I've been scrapbooking and making cards for a few years now. I love making cards the most because you can finish them pretty quickly (hopefully) and feel that sense accomplishment, then share your work with family and friends. In 2009 I really started surfing the web and learning all that I could. Now I have my own blog and am trying to branch out even more! This is my first guest appearance and I'm so excited! I hope my use of the images inspires you!" You can see more of Tiffany's work on her blog at My Little Slice of Heaven.
Each week our guest designers never fail to amaze me with their interpretation of the images. I hope this inspires you to create something wonderful to share with us. Won't you take the challenge?

Our guest host this week Kym has created the two beautiful cards above. She is a talented paper artist with a diverse style from whimsical to sophisticated. I decided to keep on with the theme of Fairies from last week and assigned her the two images above. Kym took the challenge. Won't you take the challenge too? Make a card or project with one or both of the images and post it below in the comments section for us all to be inspired.

At Kym's blog Nana's Keepsakes you can see more of her wonderful creations. Here is Kym's bio in her own words. "I am a proud mom of 2 children (Karissa - 21 who is attending school for her medical assistant degree and Travis - 19 who is a US Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, California deploying for Afghanistan in February) and a grandma of 3 precious grandchildren from my daughter (Aiden - 3 yrs. and Logan & Mitchell - 9 mos). I have been an avid crafter for many years cross-stitching, crocheting, knitting or sewing. But last year in November my best friend got me started creating cards for family and friends for the holidays and birthdays. Since that moment I have been hooked. I try to spend as much time in my craft room creating cards for my family and friends."

Digital Two For Tuesday 28

This week our guest amazing host is Terri. She has taken two fairy images and made them into cards to treasure. Both images were colored with colored pencils and the card base for both is white. For the fairy on the cloud she used DCWV papers and ivory/gold organdy ribbon. The fairy with the mirror is layered on to 2 different Christmas prints. She chose a green checked wired ribbon for the embellishments.
Here is her bio in her own words. "I have been stamping since 2004. I love to work in my craft room with soft music such as: the Celtic Women, Classical, Enya, etc. This is my way of relaxing from the daily stresses of work. I work full-time in the Children's Department of our local public library. My husband and I have been married for 30 years and have 2 beautiful daughters, a wonderful son-in-law and a gorgeous 2 year old granddaughter. Wishing everyone a very Merry and Blessed Christmas." See more of her exciting cards and projects at her blog Terri's Cards N' More.
Happy Holiday's Everyone. All I want for Christmas is comments.

Digital Two For Tuesday 22

Well this week's guest designer Debi Nicols is so creative. I just love the two cards she
has created for us with this week's two digital images. She has a wonderful gift for mixing images and papers to create a vintage look. I hope Debi inspires you to take our challenge this week and create something amazing. Don't forget to post it here in the comments section so we all can be inspired by your artwork. Here is Debi's bio in her own words. "I began stamping and making cards about 8 years ago when I discovered that my love of making quilts was beginning to take up too much space in the house! Who am I kidding today. I am sure you have seen that stamp that says "imagine all the money I will save if I make my own greeting cards". I love paper, all aspects of paper. I love sparkles and buttons are my real weakness. Currently I still have yet to begin a blog, but that is because I spend too much time looking at so many, I have no time! I am an avid reader of so many wonderful blogs. On Splitcoast stampers I am 'debiscookin' because cooking and gardening are among my other loves. My gallery is http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=73932. Thanks for looking!"

Digital Two for Tuesday 20

Wow, we are up to 20 and I hope you are enjoying the guest designers interpretation of our digital images each week as much as I am. This week is no exception. We have some amazing cards from Esther. I just love what she has created with these images. Her use of color and texture make her cards really stand out. Here is her bio in her own words. "I'm a wife (for 10 years), mom (for 7 years), and crafter (since I was a kid). I started sewing as a teenager and have made everything from curtains to rag quilts. I've enjoyed cross-stitching and crocheting as well.
About 11 years ago I saw my first scrapbook and knew it was something I wanted to do.
My first attempts are interesting to look back on (so are the supplies that were available "back then"). It wasn't until 4 years ago that I became interested in making cards, and I've been hooked ever since! I think it's my all time favorite "crafty" activity. Not only does it "scratch" my itch to create, but it caters to my impatient nature in letting start and finish a project in one day. I enjoy finding new tools and techniques to use in my "trade," and especially enjoy using the free images Cora gives us every Tuesday. I was particularly thrilled when she ask me to guest design for this week.
For more information on the materials I used in these projects you can visit my blog." http://www.estherscardcreations.blogspot.com/
So here are the two images for this week. I challenge you to create something amazing.

Digital Two For Tuesday 18

Here are two new images for this week. These are both originally from an old advertising booklet from the late 1800's. The second image of the bottles is small and better used for accents and inchies. This weeks's guest artist is Cathryn. I love Cathryn's sense of style, her use of papers and her beautiful coloring. I know you are going to love her work as well. One of the things I love the most about have guest designers is seeing how different people use the images. I hope you will be inspired by these awesome projects. Here is Cathryn's Bio: "I live in Omaha, NE with my husband, with whom I just celebrated my 39th Anniversary. We have 4 adult children, 3 crafty girls and a son who works construction. We have 12 grandchildren ranging in age from 16 to 2 mo with #13 arriving in Feb.

I have always loved are and crafty things. I have done Tole Painting, I have sewn all my life. I made rag quilts and then I found rubber stamping!

I went to a Stampin Up party that my daughter had and I was hooked. I became a SU demonstrator but life got in the way of building it as a business and after being my own best customer and discovering there were tons of other Rubber stamp companies out there I just went with what I liked.

I would consider my style for Vintage stamps or images as modern vintage where I love the images but I love to color them with copics and use distress inks and sponging to create the vintage effect.

Fact is, I love to color, My motto is: You never outgrow your need to Color! That's my story and I'm stickin to it!!! I think of my coloring as an art form and it makes me feel good. I get really grumpy when I don't get to color for a few days. Does that make me addicted? Maybe, but it gives me a real sense of accomplishment when i look at a card I have created and say " I really like the way that turned out".

Copics is my weapon of choice. I am copic certified to teach but there isn't really any place in Omaha to teach and I stay busy with my full time job and my 4 DT's. I hope that you like my samples. Cora chooses wonderful images for us each week.

I was thrilled when Cora asked me to be a Guest Designer and it has been so much fun to get to play with these images first :).

I hope that you play along with us and I look forward to seeing what you create!!!"

Digital Two For Tuesday 17

So have you taken the challenge? Every week I try to post two images that get your creativity flowing in hopes of seeing some amazing designs. I love to see how many ways an image can be used. This week I have a few images for those of you requesting images for all the men in your life. Our guest hostess Cheryl has certainly taken the challenge. When I first sent her these images I know she was thinking what did I get myself into but Cheryl is a wonderful and creative artist whose work never ceases to surprise and intrique me. So I was glad she accepted the challenge. Here is Cheryl's bio in her words. " I have been crafting for about 2 years, but started to really get into when I became a member of Trimmcraft, and was made ATC maker of the year after only being on there 3months. Then a friend Jude asked me to become one of her design team members, which I jumped at the chance. Then after that I got my own blog and have never looked back.
I am now a DT member for
http://dezinaworld.blogspot.com/
http://creativeinspirationschallenge.blogspot.com/ and just recently
http://sophisticatchallenges.blogspot.com/
I have also been published in an American magazine called craft Uk the lady saw my work on my blog and contacted me,and had one of my cards published last month. When Cora asked me to be one of her Guest designers,I jumped at the chance as by finding the blog through a friend, have not looked back since, and have tried to join in each week. Having never used digital images before to create cards with found it really exciting and also a great challenge which i love.
Stamping is my first love followed by Atc's and altered art, adore old images, and vintage. I never thought I would be able to craft as getting into it through watching QVC and through illness,it has opened up a fantastic world of many blogging friends and such talented and kind people, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of them.
Hope you like what I have created with the images
love Cheryl xx"

Digital Two for Tuesday 16

This week we have two different types of digital stamps. One is from the back cover of a book. I scanned it and it made the most lovely background stamp. The other is from a children's book. I thought it would be great for all those upcoming Halloween projects. Our guest hostess this week is one of my oldest web friends Nancy Maxwell James. We met each other on 2peas stamping board a several years ago. I often go to her for advice about stamping. You may recognize her work as she has been published in Somerset magazine many times. Nancy also has her own line of stamps called Sugar Lump Studios. Her challenge blog is called Gothic Arches. I hope you will take time to enjoy more of Nancy's beautiful artwork and to be inspired at her blog Sugar Lump Studios.

Digital Two for Tuesday 14

We have lots of exciting things going on this week at Two for Tuesday. Please read the message below to find out more details about our journals for cancer patients challenge " Journals of Love". You will get your journal posted here and a chance to win a free set of stamps from Clearly Vintage for participating.

This week we are lucky to have as our guest designer Sue. I have known Sue for several years from hanging out at the 2Peas stamping board. Her work is always so creative and her blog is an adventure to visit.

Here is her bio:

Sue McGettigan
Blog: http://ozzigirl.blogspot.com/
I'm an Aussie living in California. I've been stamping for over 18 years and the joy hasn't worn off yet, now I'm into mixed media and collage too. I had fun taking digital images and using them in projects along with stamping. I thought these bird and nest images were really fun, thanks Cora!
I have two children, hence two eggs in the nest on my journal page. I love being a parent, it's amazing and rewarding to see my children learning to be independent, learning to fly. The nest image was perfect as a jump start to a journal page. I inked the background page and the nest, then stamped images in greens and browns. The bird and the text were stamped in black, and the eggs were printed and collaged onto the page.
Nest Image: Two for Tuesday, Cora Harkins
Inks: Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Ranger; Ancient Page black
Stamps: Tim Holtz for Stampers Anonymous (bird, flourish); Stampin' Up and Purple Onion Designs (alphabets).

The image of the birds in the doorway was just so lovely in black and white I decided not to color it, so both projects are in black and white, and they are both quick and easy to make.

The thank you card is super simple - stamp the flourish in black around the edges of a white card, leaving room for the sentiment. Stamp 'Thanks'on the top of the card. Use die cuts to cut out the image and mount on black cardstock, adhere to the white card front.
For the tag, stamp the background in pale grey, stamp sentiment and flowers in black at the base, clip corners to cut into tag shape, punch and set the eyelet at the top of the tag. Use die cuts to cut out the image and mount on die cut black cardstock. Adhere mounted image to tag, loop ribbon through the eyelet.
Image: Two for Tuesday, Cora Harkins.
Stamps: Stampin' Up!
Embellishments: Prima flower, Kaisercraft diamante, gingham ribbon, eyelet.
I'm looking forward to seeing your projects using these images!
