This weekend I found a sweet book called Sunday from 1892. The inside is filled with hand drawings to illustrate the many stories and poems it contains. Both of these images are from that book. Also be sure to stop back this week for an exciting announcement.

This is a card I made using this image. The sentiment is from Studio 490. I doodled around the edge of the window I placed the sentiment in. The lace is on of my vintage scraps from the flea market.

I found this fun book at the flea market on Sunday.  It is called The Girl Who Sat by the Ashes from 1919.   I challenge you to make something amazing with one of these images and post it here in the comments section.

These two boys are from the 1895 Delineator magazine.  I cleaned the yellowed and soiled images up and they came out fairly nice.  I am still trying to find the right editing program.  I did these with Pixelmator which seems to be ok if there is not much repair work.

Iron Work Patterns

I hope you are enjoying these intricate iron work patterns from 1895.  They are inspiring.  I can see them used as backgrounds or even the main focus of a card. Everyone seems to like the images edited by Pixelmator.  They are extremely clear but I am scanning at a very high dpi.  Next I will have to experiment with lowering the dpi to see how low I can go with out losing too much clarity.  The following images are from a December 1911 McCall's Magazine.  This was truly an elegant time.  When I was a teenager a version of this look came back again for a short time.  There was lots of lace, big collars and beautiful sleeves. I just loved Gunne Sax clothing by Jessica McClintock.

I finally had a chance to download a new program today for repairing my images.  I will be trying a few programs the next few weeks.  Hopefully I will find one that works for all of my blogs.  The one I used today is called Pixelmator. Please let me know if you like the clarity on these pictures.

This posting I have include a few more images from the Woman's Institute Home Sewing Tips book from the 20's.  The woman seems so deep in thought.  I could see this image combined with a religious saying or a saying about patience.
