Himukalt is the work of Ester Kärkkäinen.It says here that She uses noise, voice, electronics, xerox. replication and reproduction of the body through sound via desire, lust, hostility, rage, mania, depression, blood, flesh.......hmmm,never heard of any of that before have we.Well, except for all of it, all the time and everywhere.

Again, nothing wrong with that, just don't bore us shitless with any yawn-some explanation.Never....repeat,NEVER explain your "Art"....NEVER!

However, the main reason we're here is because all this lovely industrial noize was made by that rare beast in the Industrial smorgasbord, a pretty young lady....as revealed in the blurb bollocks above.

Of course we are ALL prostitutes,but we are not ALL Sex Workers.

I did have a Pop Group T-shirt back in day,that my mother refused to Iron.....yes in the eighties Ironing was still a task taken up by only those with XX chromosomes.....the XY version of the female genome, shows very little interest in Ironing,or indeed,and controversially, Football. Its like those geezers who prowl the streets on 'Children In Need' Day with a Bucket collecting donations,then pop down the pub to spend the 'winnings'; but i have strong reservations whether this so-called benefit 'War tape for 'War on Want'raised enough for half a lager,never mind helping Kids with Cancer. Its probably a not so clever attempt to make the Industrial artists on here look more acceptable to decent society. Just what War On Want need is a Charity record on 'Anal Probe' records...especially on Children In Need Night? What is acceptable to these ears,is the cotton wool in the ears muffled sound quality so beloved in the offices of 'Die or DIY?'.The ferric Oxide coated playback heads of your cassette player will love you for it. Especially enhancing the terrible UK82 contributions from Society's Victims, making it even crapper than it was in 1984. There's a few pretty ordinary but dull and dampened industrial droning soundscapes that please the ear,even with the ear plugs out, and the traditional appearance of BBC sound Effects volume 2,"Marching Soldiers(120bpm)"...yes the exact same one that was used on "Holidays In The Sun".Only outscored by " Breaking Glass",also on volume 2. A favourite for DIY Industrial acts everywhere. UnKommuniti had some chap from geek miesters Stereo Lab as a member,if you're interested, which you're probably not.Just filling up the space with meaningless factoids. Mass In Black sounded quite good anyway. Finishing on a comforting note: We will get our chance to Eat The Rich soon enough,when they are dragged out of their Bunkers by their own security staff,and turned over, Alive, to the baying mob. ENJOY!

The living Jug End that is Kevin Tomkins's Whitehouse facsimile project named after the Truck driver from Leeds who had it in for a dozen or so Sex Workers,and looked remarkably like Odd-Bod from Carry On Screaming.I've been through this before on the excellent write up wot i wrote for "We Spit On Your Graves" so I won't bore you with anymore comedy look-a-likes.

There's no real reason to own more than one Sutcliffe Jugend album,they all sound exactly the same and exactly like Witehouse,same subject matter,same room emptying effect.

I found the Album Title amusing, especially in these days here in France when Porn Hub and associated sites, have pulled out,before you've pulled off,and left a disgruntled message where before there were pies full of flying Jissom hitting various parts of a naked young lady's body now there are none or Nun.(its coming to your town soon). 

So as a social experiment to discover what effect the lack of Pornography has on the Sex Crimes creamy pie chart.Either someones gonna get murdered,or those naughty teenage chaps are gonna display a new found respect for Ladies,and use their imaginations if they want a wank, and stop murdering and raping. I strongly suspect the murdering and the raping will likely increase somewhat. Well, i've never been more insulted in my life!?...these chaps seem to think Nazi's are great blokes, shocking. I've a good mind to phone the bizzies * (*a collective scouse noun for the police in Liverpool". The one man Power Electronics band, Con-Dom, used to grope female members of the ,admittedly very small, audience....until attitudes on such behaviour changed in recent years. His act would now result in serious jail time for sexual assault,all in the name of Shock Value......but that's Rock'n'Roll innit?

Most of the acts on this patience testing double C-60, spend most of their time being Whitehouse for five minutes or so,with seemingly very little interest in doing otherwise; ironic as William Bennett (the bloke in Whitehouse) himself has very little time for a few of the acts/bands featured on this exceedingly nasty compilation.

What my mother must have thought when she brought a cup of Tea up to my bedroom in the early 80's I'll never know. She seemed oblivious to the 'orrible racket emanating from these tapes,and other similar recordings of the time.Not as shocking as one may think.Similarly, my father seemed equally disinterested in the scraping and rumbling upstairs,even when one of Hitlers speeches blasted out of the noise and echoed down the street. No-one else seemed to give a Fuck either.....and y'know what I think they were right.

In the desperate struggle to achieve shock value ,the creators of this non-musicianly cacophony forgot one thing,'avoid being boring'.

I'm desensitized to noise in general,so for me,a subtle splash of melody here and there could only add to the Horror,like in a John Carpenter film......admittedly there are a couple of tracks which do have these qualities on here,but another thirty or so that certainly do not.

Don't let this put you off if you haven't yet been numbed to shock values.....exposure to such oscilloscope breaking phenomena is essential if you want to advance oneself in the subtler arts of music,and put the Roland space-echo and Hitlers' Speeches LP out to pasture.

Yeah,that's Right, I Like this tape.....a-lot.

Another Ed Gein reference, another photo of a botched suicide victim on the slab, the word vaginal,...it's all adding up to another interchangeable Industrial/Power Electronics cassette.Especially popular in Italy.

Italians like Prog Rock and Industrial culture...rather too much it seems....like me; but I can see the tiresome sameness of 110% of the participants in this genre. Anyone can make a tape like this everyday if they were so inclined,whereas its not so easy to be a punk band.You may require 2 or three chords to write a Punk Rock song,which qualifies as an actual bone-fide song rather than a throbbing noise passing itself off as a tribute to some obscure mass murderer in Siberia(no talent required);but for the Industrial Genre as a whole you only need zero chords to be included. This is Prog Rock for the kids who felt excluded at a Yes Concert,and a far more inclusive experience than Punk Rock pretended to be......"You are Us,but stay down there" (Jimmy Pursey,"Tell us the truth" LP live side 1978)

So it gets to the point where everyone is on the stage and no-one is in the mosh pit. Ultimately making music irrelevant ,we can all do this at home,never bother going out. Do It Yourself,or DIY,....a position heavily promoted by this blog.The trouble with that noble philosophy is that if everyone did it themselves we'd end up with something like 'Bandcamp', a seething morass,mess, of  every genre of the past 70 years turned into a haystack with no needles in.......and there's no way out.DON'T DO IT YOURSELF

If i heard this in 1980 i would have enjoyed it as much as watching The Damned live in 1977.

Don't misunderstand me, this is a great tape,but,what's the point?...and the Damned are still touring.

The natural length for a pop album is forty minutes,and I think that 20 minutes is the natural length for Smell & Quim style noise.This is on the softer more palatable end of the noise spectrum,where space is left for some subtlety to stave off the boredom.It's more of an old skool industrial outing for our favourite purile pranksters from oop north,or dahn sarf if you live north of Yorkshire,

My father(from north of Yorkshire) used to gather us children around the fireplace of a winters evening during the power cuts of 1971.....no telly was there?..... to tell us about the time he ate some Pussy. We were transfixed as he described how in desperation, him and emasciated buddies, found, killed and ate a Cat when on the death march in Poland during WW2. It tasted like Chicken he said. "Are you sure it wasn't a chicken?" I inquired in hope,only to find out he ate a Dog too,and some rats! It begs the question as to what would have Vegans done on the death march? Eat Grass and mud?

As my father had been on strike for three months from the Post Office,we kids were wondering whether we would have to eat pussy too, as we were totally fucking skint,and the eventual pay rise won would never make up for the lost wages! If you think things are fucked now, you should have experienced Great Britain during the seventies.That makes Brexit,and co-vid look like a damn fine time that was had by all. These conditions, combined with Yes's "Tales of Topographic Oceans" have been blamed for the emergence of Punk Rock.So what are our brainwashed kids gonna do in reponse to the Co-Vid crisis?

The name of the band(?) is a parody of 'popular in 1987' female pop duo Mel & Kim.The more Attractive of this Stock,Aitkin and Waterman created duo died from cancer at the height of their fame ,leaving the entity as merely just Kim,the less fanciable one.So her career bombed...such is the fickle world of Pop.She died for you, kids!?..but the kids wish it was the other one who died. Thats like wishing Peter Hook had topped himself rather than our fav troubled miserablist singer. That scenario would have at least saved us from that toe-curling John Barnes Rap in the England World Cup song for Italia '90....get 'round the back!??

It says here that The power electronics collective's,"Smell and Quim's", creative output is often associated with controversial and taboo topics like fetishism(OoooYa!), alcoholism (Steady on now!), pornography(Shocking...not), and necrophilia(Now then guys'n'gals)?...well how fucking controversial is that?....not very is the answer.

Another point is that smell doesn't necessarily align itself with a quim. A bag lady's quim certainly would have an unwelcome aroma to it,so i suggest that if a young lady were to indulge in an intimate wash,it would just be 'Quim' we would be a-discussing? A slightly cock-centic point of view there?Appendages that don't have the greatest reputation of cleanliness themselves. A gentleman's wash in the sink before a hot date would work wonders I suggest?

As Industrial Noise goes this stuff is Power Electronics as seen through the eyes of a Carry-on film scriptwriter.Confessions of a Window cleaner crossed with Merzbow. As a former Window Cleaner myself,what I done to supplement my dole money,to the tune of an extra three hundred quid a week!!!, I can confidently reveal that the film was no exaggeration....yes, it was not a barrel of laughs.In fact at one house we were instructed to hurry up before her Husband got home or he'll stab us up!!!....No gratuitous sex either!?

The wall scraping Noise,of this CD-r not window cleaning, is fine, but the lyrical content is all a bit silly.I suspect that a few of Smell and Quim are in their late fifties by now,and should know better....its not funny.....but i do find myself sniggering from time to time,like Sid James catching Kenneth Williams as 'Doctor Tinkle' at it,or not, as in many English naughty comedies, with Matron (Hattie Jacques).

There is,however, a fine disrespectful tribute to the memory of serial peadophile Michael "Wacko" Jackson. Yes, he who was born black but died white,and in between he fiddled with kids.

The core line up of this Japnoise duo/band consisted of Hiroshi Hasegawa(late of the bands Astro & Mortal Vision) and former porn actress Mayuko Hino.

Naughty nymphet Hino would occasionally reprise this saucy element of her past into her performances by engaging in such acts as onstage striptease(Oooooh I say!?). Aesthetically, Mayuko Hino advocated a very emotive and cathartic approach to the noise as opposed to the conceptual and intellectual approaches advocated by many other (predominantly 'Male')acts in the Power Electronics sub-genre. Typically a female approach,Mayuko Hino believes that an emotional, rather than an intellectual, approach to noise not only creates more interesting sounds, but reveals much more about the artist......an approach I rather agree with,although the intellectual approach I also find rather cathartic, personally. The human element is essential if this noise onslaught is not to become distant and and inhuman....and, I reiterate, Boring!

Masonna ‎– "Masonna Vs. Bananamara" - (Vanilla Records ‎– VANILLA-3) 1989

No series of posts on Japanese music would be complete without the poster boy, and wild man of Japnoise, Masonna.
Once a close associate of the often mentioned Merzbow, Maso Yamazaki has a fine line in extreme screaming and shouting, which adds that much needed performance aspect to power electronics.Without that human factor the constant distorted tornado can get incredibly tiresome.
This mono outing in (Ironic)tribute to those ear and brain damaging pop superstars ,Bananarama, is fittingly extreme,and ear protection is recommended.
The fact that all tracks were recorded in glorious Mono, live, at home,with no mixing,and no overdubs,seem to suggest this is the perfect DIY record. Well done my son!

Stupid is stupid is stupid is stupid as stupid does, would be a catchphrase for the Trump and NRA stance on Gun Laws.
Yesterday there was the 18th school shooting this year in the USA, and its only half way through February. That's exactly 18 more school shootings than in the whole of the rest of the planet!?....probably more than in every country combined for all time!
The argument this time is that if the innocent Assault Rifle hadn't had a mentalist attached to it, it wouldn't have killed anybody!???....like no other country has mental cases who want to kill people?...the difference is...and its a simple but big difference, is that the mental cases in every other country except the USA can't get hold of Automatic weaponry!
Its also far easier to remove a gun from a situation rather than a human being......even though their dumb-ass answer to that is to just shoot the Human leaving the gun inoperable.
This double cassette has nothing to do with the NRA or those stupid is stupid U.S. gun laws, but the sound recorded on them could easily be a soundtrack to a mass shooting by an angry young outcast with a K-Mart shopping bag full of ammo.
This only happens in the USA, and noise of this quality only happens in Japan....well at least for the past thirty years anyway.

This double cassette box set is the best place to collect the main perps of the japanese primal scream.
Its rather like listening to a platoon of Guiger-Muller tubes focusing in on ground zero at Hiroshima and Nagasaki immediately after the American Atrocities had fucked everything up forever. Accompanied by the screams of burning children as they are x-rayed onto the rubble.

Now we present the 'Blind Faith'* of Italian Industrial, 'Lyoto Music' and their eponymously titled cassette called.....er......"Lyoto Music".
At least, unlike the aforementioned 'Blind Faith'they at least had a naked consenting adult on their cover ,rather than a nude pubescent schoolgirl(who looked disturbingly like Robert plant?!) holding a model aircraft. We,civilised humanity, definitely needs an operation yew tree* investigation on sixities rock monsters....they'd ALL be banged up I can guarantee it.Unless they use the infamous Pete Townsend defense plea,and call Under-age sex.... "Research"!?
This Italian Post-Industrial Super-Group, featuring the bloke from Mauthausen Orchestra and the bloke from Swastika Kommando, present two sides of yer standard Italian Power Electronics, resplendent with lo-spec artwork of an un-named female being,for want of a better word....'Fisted'.
When this came out I was naive/young enough to have dismissed the act of 'Fisting' as an urban myth.I now know better...NOT...I may add, to having experienced this dubious pleasure myself,giving or receiving ;but I MAY have seen video evidence from an un-named web based emporium that offers such specialized entertainment for the discerning self-whittler*,free of charge.
So, what i'm saying is,Industrial music is ,by far, morally superior to all Classic Rock.......BANG 'EM UP! 

*Hideously sexist sixties rock supergroup featuring Clapton,Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood and Rick Grech (Who lived round the corner from me in my childhood council estate in Leicester,wheelchair bound, when his star had fallen with a massive crash!).

Axis Sally, for those who didn't know (Or care?),which is most everybody; was the female version of Lord Haw Haw on the Nazi English language propaganda service during world war two.......and you thought this might be a Broken Flag release without any reference to right wing politics in Germany.......well, you were wrong.
Then we look at the track list and see that every track has some reference at least to Nazi's or right wing twits like Senator Joe McCarthy.
Axis Sally, like Lord Haw Haw ,was American......ahh the 'special relationship' between Britain and the USA  rears its non-existent head once more. But at least we (the Brits) got to hang Lord Haw Haw, whereas Axis Sally escaped the Gallows, as many other 'top' Nazis did thanks to a concept of American Justice that has now disappeared.
All this Nazi, Murderer, Sadism stuff ,is designed to confront ourselves with the part of ourselves we would rather not admit to;and to a certain extent it works.Sadly Like when Donald Trump said "You won't find anyone less Racist than me",few people are comfortable at being confronted by this side to their character.
However, these tapes are preaching to the converted, and I doubt Trump and his dim-witted followers would be interested in listening to banks of squealing synths and barked distorted couplets about Nazis....Trump supporters think they aren't Nazis,so this would put them off immediately. Put all this stuff over a country and Western track instead of skin blistering noise, then they may pay attention.....as long as its in short bursts like TV ads,as they have the attention spans of goldfish with Alzheimers.

Various Artists ‎– "Slaughter Of The Innocent" (New Blockaders Org) 1983

This compilation, compiled by Richard Rupenus of New Blockaders fame, tries nobly to dispel much of the criticism leveled against the industrial/power electronics genre as an all sound-alike group of TG/Whitehouse imitators(Which it largely IS). The great variety of styles, techniques and sounds displayed on this 20 track tape suggest that perhaps this genre is more of a philosophical collective rather than a purely aesthetic one.The truth being more like a mixture of both leaning strongly towards the Aesthetic shoebox that all these acts find themselves cornered in. All the performers included here are extreme and intense chaps, yet the gamut of sounds runs from new musique concrete via 23 Skidoo Funk (Bourbonese Qualk, Mixed Band Philanthropist) to dark ritualistic collages (Metgumnerbone), to skin peeling power electronics (New Sadism, Vortex Campaign). Then we have Observation Clinique, Konstruktivits,and David Jackman to provide the dark understated, avant garde end of the genre to make us all feel thick.And finally always the very odd one out, Paul Kelday is here to provide some Kosmishe inspired spacey electronics.

Various Artists ‎– "Trial By Ordeal" (Broken Flag ‎– BF 31) 1983

Trial by Ordeal was the preferred method of finding out if that old hag from the shitty end of the village really was a witch. If she survived being held underwater for an inordinate length of time she was obviously a Witch and would therefore have to be burnt at the Stake...which apparently witches could not survive.
This tape is something similar, and if you survive sixty minutes of MORE Industrial sameness then you should probably self-immolate yourself before the Witchfinder general,or the Police, ring your novelty doorbell.
That said, probably the best way to listen to Industrial Noise is in the form of a compilation.Even in the Industrial corner that many acts have painted themselves into, there are subtly different shades of conformity available.Luckily we have Giancarlos Toniutti to provide some pretentious avant garde noise in between the balls to the wall stuff from fellow I-tie  Mauthausen Orchestra and Whitehouse copyists Ramleh. The other Italian act on the list LXSS (or Laxative Souls), also provide some welcome respite with some gentle echo laden Industrial Percussion. 
So, all-in-all, as Industrial comps go,this is a less dull one.

I was going to post all of the Swastika Kommando and related offshoots' Tapes individually.....but the sequence got ruined,fittingly, by the demise of Mark E. Smith. So, here's the 2014 complete Post-Industrial Noise career in a box anthology of Pietro Mazzocchin's 1983 works on Menstrual Recordings.(Most of these were originally on Broken Flag in fact).I assume the picture on the front of the box is not the man himself,so i'm guessing its a Nazi War Criminal......predictably enough). So pop a tampon (unused) in each ear,turn the volume up,and wait for your neighbours(if they're still talking to you?),girlfriend (If you have one?), and maybe even the Police to start banging on your door and walls shouting, "TURN THAT SHIT OFF!".

Observation Clinique ‎– "The Mental Answer 1" (Recloose Organisation ‎– Loose 3) 1984

The same bloke who was know alternatively as Swastika Kommando and New Sadism, Pietro Mazzocchin, was also...yes, you guessed it.....no,not a nazi,....well maybe(?).....he was also Observation Clinique; who made this contribution for a three tape overhaul of Italian 'post'Industrial acts on Bourbonese Qualks label, Recloose Org in 1984.
"The Mental Answer 1" also made it out there as an album in its own right, and thinking of Pietro's favourite subject matter ,the mental answer was probably the pre-war Nazi Euthanasia program against the disabled.
Side A is the standard half an hour of untuned short wave radio static that we've heard a thousand times before.....OK we get it, you're an intellectual, albeit in your own lunchtime.
Side B sounds like a a thousand car theft alarms arguing with a flock of Seagulls.....unfortunately NOT the band, but an actual Flock of the rather noisy seabirds, and pissed-off ones at that. It does the trick nicely, inducing the emotion of anger as one reaches aggressively for the off button.If there's one noise that makes me wanna smash up any offending device more than a car alarm I'd like to know what it is?
