Catching up with you

Hi everyone,  I found  I love drawing with a gel pen in my sketchbook. I haven't  put any color on it but it was fun. Sadie is doing  fine. She is our Labrador retriever and I had a true night of terror when she got a leather chewy  2 in square caught in her throat.  I stuck my finger way down her throat and pulled it out ...was afraid  more was stuck but didn't  find more and watched her the rest of the night.  She curled in my lap all 82 lbs and stayed there. Oh boy you know how much I love her, I truly was afraid. I have been working  on a commission and I had to paint  an owl, I enjoyed painting  her. John and I have been painting  the walls in the den today. Glad that is over. I hope you all are doing great we did get 10 inches of rain before the hurricane but very little storm. So very  sorry for the Carolinas.  Love to EACH of you,Diana ps this SAT. I teach at Norfolk Botanical Garden.  Luna Moth and Ferns.

My Owl Finished

Great Horned Owl, Original watercolor by Diana Davis, 8x10, framed $99.
Here's my owl from class. I finished it today. I had to adjust the eyes a little and darken the beak just a pinch. He's finished. I really enjoyed demonstrating painting him at class. I love to paint owls.

Tomorrow is my sister 's birthday. So she and her husband came over to the shore for the afternoon. Daddy and Mama took us all out to the Island House Restaurant in Wachapreague for lunch to celebrate. It was so lovely sitting there looking at the marsh and boats come in. They've just left- headed home. Happy Birthday Terry.

Wishing you all a happy weekend.  I was hoping to hear from the puppies. They were supposed to be born this weekend. No word. Yet.. Will let you know. Talk to you tomorrow,Diana

Owls and Lady in Blue

HI, Well it's been an eventful week. Harvest Festival, Wednesday, was nice, lots of friends, food and a few sales for everyone. Thursday, yesterday was the birding festival and that was nice, not so many people but good friends and a wonderful bird show, I've posted a couple of the photos of the great horned owl and the barred owl.

Here is my new watercolor"Lady in Blue". I took this photo a few years ago of this lady who works at Maplewood Gardens near Nassawadox,Va., here on the Eastern Shore. The Eastern Shore Art League was having a paintout there. Barbara Custis was kind to have us there swimming in her pool, painting and everyone brought a dish to share. A lovely day.Wet paint at the bottom of her feet.. I finished it Tuesday. No I didn't paint anything today.. I'm too wiped out!

I will not be at Harborton Town Festival this year.( Go anyway if you can to support them) I hope you understand, my back is not good and I have done way too much this week.. I really need to rest up.. my next show will be next weekend at Art Affair in Richmond, Saturday Oct.16 from 10am-5pm and Sunday Oct 17 from 11am-4pm. This is a juried show with about 130 artists. Hope to see you then. Talk soon. Diana
