the return of MURNI

This girl was missing from my sewing room for many seasons ................... She had just came home from visiting her in laws in Sabah and now is expecting her first baby. Doesn't she look familiar?

If I mentioned MURNIWATI, does it ring a bell.........? She was an x-stuff of Epal and had travelled around Semenanjung to all Epal centres...... She was very famous then.... winning few awards for her creativity and produced some very neat works and a good tutor there. She retires now and a full time housewife.

All was not planned, and she came barging to the house out of the blue..... and I was thrilled. She brought along a bundle of scraps ...................all lovely and yummy designs.

... and I just knew what to do with them all.................... :D

Finally....It was done!

I did the piecing way back in 2009,
a BOM project with CALENDER QUILT CHALLENGE '09 with many team members organized by Rachel Griffith
I managed to complete this few hours before the end of 2010. Though it took almost a year to complete, I was overwhelmed with the final results and such a relief. The backing was a simple lantern prints and this quilt measures 88 x 68 inches.

Just to wish everyone here, a Happy New Year - 2011!!!

Scraps to joy!

What a joy, after the exhaustion of travelling and came home with heavy head, I saw this on my sewing table. The parcel was from NYKOLETT and filled with scraps to get 'belasah' according to Rosni, the owner of a well established Curtains & Soft Furnishing shop.......

Whoever needs some scraps, run over to her place and simply choose one heap of stash there. She has plenty to offer to all .... need less to say, just go and visit her!!

Thanks Rosni! Will think about something for us, both... :)

SCRAPPY QUILT

This is an odd-size single quilt
done by using my scraps from years of accumulations. used 2 inches of square cut diagonally. stitched by separating 2 tones of colours to have the 2 tones effect.
it took me about a year to complete it due to the limited additional of scraps as it goes along. i would never cut any of my big pieces of fabric - no, not me! as each big or small pieces are precious treasure to every quilters. finally done and had it quilted by machine.
