Roses and Gems and Twine (Fibres)

It is so long since I entered a card challenge, I am ashamed of myself. So here is the first of what I hope will become a regular thing again!

I have used one of my experimental backgrounds from yesterday's post as the background for this card which is for the Crafty Creations Challenge #184 - Gems and Twine (or fibres)

Well, I didn't have any twine but I have sure packed a lot of fibres into this card!

As the paper was made from 100% cotton rag waste that chalks up one type of fibre. Then the inked cotton paper has been machine embroidered so there are some more fibres and lastly we have the amazing space dyed fibre which matched the background beautifully.

The picture is of roses and rose buds painted, using the one stroke method, with acrylic paints.

Black flat back gems have been used for the studs in the corners of the picture, smaller gems for the butterfly's body and wings and finally a line of clear gems along the bottom of the card.

Yellow Rose - A card for 5 challenges.

Good evening. Here is a nice bright easel card which I am going to enter in 5 challenges:

Totally Papercrafts #57 - Shaped cards
Crafty Catz Weekly challenge - Colour Combo, Yellow and Green
The Stamp Man #18 - Mother's Day - Floral Theme
Sentimental Sundays #46 - Let's go Green (Colour or Recycled) + a sentiment
Diecut Dreams Challenge #85 Mothers Day or Special Friend

To create the shape I used Grand Nesties in both Scalloped Ovals and Ovals on both pale yellow hammered card and plain green card. Many of these were cut, matted and layered to give the final look. The largest plain oval was stamped with a flourish stamp (Creative Expressions) using Shabby Shutters Distress Ink.

The large central rose, the leaves, the smaller rose on the base of the easel and the sentiment  are all stamps by Creative Expressions. They were stamped on white card, coloured with Distress inks and Aquamarkers.

The double bow incorporates both pale yellow organza ribbon with satin edges and pale green satin ribbon.

The sentiment says: "If I had a rose for every time I thought of you, I'd be picking roses for a life time." My Mum passed away nearly 3 years ago so I don't have one to give the card to but I do think of her a lot.

Pink Roses

A second post today to catch up on another challenge. This is for the Crafty Creations Challenge #98 - Photo Inspirations. From the photo I took the colour pink and rose elements from the fabric.
On a 6" cream base card I layered up some very pretty pale pink and cream paper which is a very old design from Joanna Sheen. It is very delicate and features roses and hearts.
The rose images, both the spray and the individual corner flowers are from Creative Expressions stamps. The spray and 4 single blooms were stamped onto slightly textured cream card with Versamark and embossed with Platinum WOW powder. These were coloured in with two shades of pink Twinkling H2Os to give a slight sheen.
For the main image, once the paint was dry, the shape was cut out with a square scalloped Nestability. The edges were then tinted with Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick Distress inks using a blending tool. The four individual blooms were cut out, just outside the embossed line.
The main image was bonded in place with double sided tape. The leaves, which were part of a prize for winning a challenge, were mounted in place with Pinflair glue as were the 4 roses.
