Willowlamp handcrafted lighting

Lighting installation in Cairo Hotel

The Willowlamp Company is the brainchild of the South African based design duo ‘TeamTwo’ Adam Hoets and Sian Eliot.

Eliot studied Industrial Design and is also a jeweler. She has established herself as a distinctive voice in the field of jewelery design through her innovative meshing of traditional skills with technology. Adam Hoets is a registered Architect who has specialised in Eco Architecture.

Together this dynamic team custom design each piece made of hundreds of chain strands that are cut and assembled by hand. Recognized by Elle decor and the overall winners of the Elle Decor "Designers of the Year" in 2009. I would say well deserved....

This lighting would certainly by the highlight of any space, both residential and commercial. Just to die for... Enjoy!

Luxe - Look List

This weeks Look List is about decorating with a designer twist. Woman will spend a small fortune buying designer handbags.  I thought adding some Louis Vuitton or Hermes to your living space might be nice too... I found all three "very cool" items on my favorite web site 1st dibs. Lets see if you can tell which one is real or faux.  Enjoy!

Original dead stock Chanel advertisements from Paris, France. Originally designed by Andy Warhol in the 1980's but frozen after his death, these Ads were released by the estate in the 1990's to Chanel to be used in a campaign. This is an extra large sized print newly framed. 1st dibs listing...here

Post by Mimi Betancourt

I’m on my way to the Architectural Digest Show this morning, @ Pier 94 NYC.  I step out of the cab and I make sure I have my business cards in hand, along with a pen and notebook.  I’m so excited and hoping to find unique and inspired design.  I get my badge, I scan my floor plan and I’m ready to explore.

I see all fabulous things from the Nakashima Retrospective exhibit, to my all time favorite, 1st Dibs and their pristine, vintage finds.  I stop at the martini lounge and as tempted as I am, I only get water.  At the far  end of the exhibit, it's all about  Green Design and in between are all of the other important design elements such as rugs, lighting,  furniture and accessories.

Throughout the exhibit, what catches my eye the most, are the amazing artisans that I believe make the heart of the show.  These artists are passionate people that truly inspire me and remind me of why I am a designer.  They put such love, craftsmanship and expression into their designs.  I hope that they get the attention and recognition they deserve.  Thank you.

Here are some more artisan links for you to enjoy.
