SHOWCASING A PRETTY HOME

I know women everywhere do this but y'all trying to work and take care of all the bills and house maintenance is killing me.....

Plus you know how that goes.....you have to spend so much time setting up bill pay for everything and then for some reason it doesn't happen and you spend hours on the phone trying figure that crap out.

I have an alarm system that once a month for some reason the app won't work and it's at least a 45 minute phone call to get that situated....only to do it again.

grrrrr.....

I hate to complain because heck I am lucky to even have a house!

You know how my friend Rose and I help each other with installs.....it just goes faster and is WAY more fun! I helped her on Tuesday with a new build that she has worked on for the last year.  The client had just moved in and of course that is when you have all this stuff and no idea where to put anything:)

When I walked in I was totally in love with the kitchen.....it's amazing!

I mean it's stunning....the quartzite countertops and the beautiful hardware!

I did not design it but here is what I know.....the cabinets and walls are BM China White.  The pendants are Hinkley and the barstools are World Market....[apparently no longer available].

I love the backsplash from Construction Resources.

The island is painted SW Iron Ore.

Are you drooling yet??

Right off the kitchen is the family room.....

Our biggest job were these bookshelves.  The client had a storage room full of all her previous used accessories from her former home.

Before...

The first thing we did was stagger some of the shelves.....thankful that they were adjustable.

After

I can say that we used mostly what she had only adding 2 things from HomeGoods!

The beautiful fireplace surround is soapstone.

Love the beams....and this room gets so much light!

This Bernhardt sofa got some love with mostly ready made pillows but Rose selected 2 custom ones to up the game!

The middle ones gave it the pattern that it needed.....

These guys were not impressed with us at all....

Below is the "friends entrance/mud room.

It is right off the kitchen and I love the brick floors and the dutch door.....great for the 2 dogs to hang out when she is gone....

Pretty Thibaut wallpaper and circa lighting sconces in the powder room.

And this laundry room is all that!

Some detail shots.....

This Circa lighting dining room chandelier has always been a favorite.

Love the tile in the 2 guest bathrooms....

And this performance runner is amazing!

Rose did a beautiful job on the home and I hope the client is giddy!

Answering some questions from my previous post....
The polka dot pillows in one of the bedrooms are Schumacher.

I purchased the mustard stripe throw at Westside Market.

So y'all....it's already almost mid July....whoa!  I am headed to Boulder for a few days next Sunday....it's been a minute!

My house is all tore up but that is another post. AND....my sisters kitchen is coming along but of course there have been a few small issues.

Hey....life just keeps rolling along doesn't it?

Y'all be good....

BEFORE AND AFTER

What a week.....Life can be so funny....if you are on Instagram then you might have read that Monday was a crappy day for me.

I use the term crappy because if I think back and put it in perspective it probably pales in comparison to people who are suffering so much more than me.

The first thing had to do with my divorce.....and what felt like some terrorizing from my soon to be ex.  It took most of the day to iron out.  I will say it's the first time I have ever tried deep breathing and then I remembered that petting a dog brings your blood pressure down so I grabbed Cami and just loved on her for a good 15 minutes.

You know what?  It really helped!

Anyway around 3  I called a friend to take me to pickup my car from the shop.  I had her drop me off because I knew it was ready.  I "be-bopped" in feeling so much better after handling my situation [and my love session with Cami] and threw down my CC.  He promptly said we don't take AMX.

No problem I came prepared and took out my check book.  He again promptly said we don't take checks.  Huh?  Well there you go.  I don't have a Visa or Mastercard [which taught me another lesson.....like I needed more lessons that day!]

So guess what?  I had to Uber home.  Yeah.  Icing on the darn cake.

Anyway......On Tuesday I helped my friend Rose with her installation.  If you don't know.... we help each other on install days.  It makes it so much more fun and Lord knows I needed the distraction!

I will show you the before.

We started with the bookshelves.  I would say we mostly worked with what she had.  We had gone to a flea market and picked up a few vintage items  to help warm them up.

BEFORE

We started by taking everything down and grouping them into categories like books...family pictures and small items.

I will say there were some other bookshelves in another room that we pilfered a few things from.

 AFTER

Here is the after....What we added....some brown wood accents....that we found while at the fleamarket.

She had some blue vases and Rose had picked up a couple from HomeGoods!

Anyway they have a more curated look now.

So here is the before of the space before anything was done.

There was a sectional and Rose worked out a whole new floor-plan.  The sectional went downstairs into the finished basement!

Removing the furniture!
Laying the new rug!

The new furniture plan!  2 sofas and 2 chairs....so warm and cozy.  Let's discuss...all the fabric on the chairs and sofas are performance.  Since this is her only living space she wanted something a little bit more formal.....

Details....

It's so pretty....Rose Kipper Interiors did an amazing job!

All of the upholstered furniture is Charles Stewart.  Made in America!

Rose managed to brighten up this small sitting room also.  We zhushed up the bookcases with what was left and she picked up a throw, the blue and white garden seat, and the rug!

The wall color wasn't changed but Rose added some textured Thibaut wallpaper to warm it up....

She found some pillows and a lamp at HomeGoods!

Also on Tuesday I received so much love from tons of people!  My good friend Cindy Hattersley featured me on her blog Rough Luxe Lifestyle!  It's a series called Ageless style....with pictures and an interview.

If you want to know all of my style secrets....haha....head over!

After a sh*#y day the skies opened up and and I felt tremendous love from all of my social media friends.  I have only spent a little time with Cindy [at the mart once for 2 days] but she is such a kind person and has been incredibly supportive during this difficult year....checking in on me.  One day I will get to visit her and see her incredible house and all of my favorite California "blogging" friends.....

I hope you guys will be able to celebrate this Independence Day with family and friends....small gatherings only please:)

BEFORE AND AFTER

So much going on in my small little world right now.  First off and this is huge......my TV is pixelating so bad it's giving me a tick.  I know....shallow but it's the little things right?  I had to actually call the cable company which as we all know like having a stick poked in your eye.

And....then you get that window of time they they are coming....like between 12 on Wednesday to 3 on Friday right?  And if they call and you don't answer the phone they cancel.  I don't know about you but I don't answer my phone unless I know who it is..... so there's that.

Anyway first world problems.  I need to get over it.

I helped my friend Rose with her install on Wednesday.  It was so fun!  This home was built in the mid 70's and it had a great vibe to me.  I could have moved right in!

She had some really pretty things but like everyone....just needed the touch of 2 designers for a little styling and such....haha!

This post will show you what you can do with what you already have.

Here is some of the stuff we arrived with!

And look....this is the spread she left out for us!  Clients take note :)

Let's start with this incredible sunroom which I would kill for....all those windows!

It had a good start.  Not changing the furniture but just styling it up a little with new pillows and a few accessories.

First off Rose neutralized the space with a new rug.

She had this beautiful zebra skin [I almost put in my car!] in another room which we brought it in to layer on top.  Boom....better already!

A few pillows.....

To lighten up the dark brown leather chairs some textural neutral pillows and a throw were added.

It really came together!

Before.....

Across from the sofa is the TV cabinet.

Took down some of the jars and added some baskets....again more texture.

Small changes people!

Empty table....

Added a lamp that was in another room....

Abracadabra....presto chango.

And a bathroom that was spruced up....here are the before shots.

Sorry you have to look into a toilet but well....we all have em so don't be offended:)

A little wallpaper and some art she already had!

What a difference huh?  I love this Thibaut paper....I have used it before.

Rosy Rose you did a great job!!

One of my favorite things is repurposing what clients have.  We live in a world where we feel like we have to get rid of everything and start over but I think it gives a home a more collected look to mix it up.

And.... there is your tip of the day!

Hope y'all have a great weekend.  I'm working on Saturday but I'm planning to check out on Sunday and not do anything design related....yeah....right.

Feeling.....
