CURATING ART

If you are on Instagram then you know I had a busy weekend.....DK Gallery in Marietta, Georgia had an art opening where 20 or so designers picked a piece of art and then curated a small vignette to co-ordinate with our selection.

Of course I said yes 2 months ago and then I had to be prodded to actually go pick out my selection and after everyone promptly put their vignettes together..... I was knocking on the door at 4:00 with my table and flowers.....sliding in just under the opening at 5:00 pm.

Crikey.....

I picked a piece that was titled "Last Day Of Summer"....by Laura Surace

So I went down into my "collection room" commonly known as the basement and dug out this old table.

Grabbed a tray and threw some wallpaper and fabric together!  Of course these are my colors and now you can see the method behind my choice of art:)

Flew into Trader Joes for some greenery and there you go.  Old Target vase also from the "collection room" :)

Then of course I had to dress to match everything and I wore this Target number....which I can't find online anymore.  I actually got it on the sale rack for 22.00.  Score.

They were actually pretty comfortable but after 5 hours NO SHOE IS COMFY.....am I right?

It was a fun night to catch up with friends Lori May and Lisa Mowry below

Lori's selection

I also wore it last Thursday night with flats..... please excuse the sour look on my face...haha
And if you look closely you can see that I have to keep my LR sofa covered up so Cami doesn't lay there 24/7.

Buggerhead

While I was there networking I get this text from my husband.

He wanted to show me the empty dog food container.

Crickets....

Meaning I should stop for dog food on my way home [25 minutes away]  after working all day.  Uh Huh....at 8:45 pm I had to go to Pet Smart.....

Yet.....he is retired and is less than a mile from PS.

Can you see where I'm going with this?

Irritated.

But who could resist this face....

I found this beautiful vase at HomeGoods....and threw in 9.00 worth of white gladiolus for impact!

Alrighty then....it's wedding week and of course I have a cold.

Not happy about it.

THIS AND THAT

Who can believe it is the middle of July?  What if I said there are 155 days until Christmas.....that will shake you awake from your "summer slumber" huh?

It's only 18 days until my nieces wedding....I have all my outfits planned out for 4 occasions which I will share in another post!

I also got suckered into having an after wedding brunch on Sunday morning so now I am in a dither to redecorate my whole house....haha...just kidding....haha....maybe not.

Blah....blah....blah.....first world problems.

Do you guys remember when I was doing the House Beautiful showhouse?  AND....at the same time I was also designing a room for another showhouse down in Fayetteville Georgia which is at least 35 miles from my house.

Yeah.....it was a busy month!  A lot of rule breaking when I said I would never do another room at a showhouse again after I did one about 5 years ago.

But whatever....#slowlearner

The point of all the complaining is I never shared the professional pictures of my space. [taken by Lauren Rubenstein

STOP.....before you start firing off questions about where everything came from here is the link to the post I wrote about it all:

Part One
Part Two

So yes I get it....this post could be mistaken for a complete sham.....meaning I have already shown most of these but I swear these are new pictures....lest the blog police come after me for recycling content.

Summer blogging is tough y'all....taps on the mike....is anyone NOT on vacation?

In other news....August 2nd I will be in Marietta at DK Gallery curating a piece of art along with a few other designers!

Here's the art that I chose....
This one just spoke to me......Come on by!

AND....I posted this on insta stories....I had never heard of this stuff!

But seems like I am in the minority here....

Alrighty then....it's lower body day at Bach so I have to get going!

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

Week 79.  Just kidding.

I could probably go that long :)

This might be it for a while but I have to say the room is looking quite pretty with the most important thing being my sweet client is happy.

Should we review?
Before
One of the first things we did [after the fabric selections] was to create a focal point on this wall. You can see that the picture just did not carry enough weight for the space.  To do that we had to have some light switches moved.  You can see them if you look closely underneath the picture.  It wasn't expensive so don't let that stop you from "greatness" as I say......

With the addition of pillows and throws.  Still have some accessorizing to do on the console but I am pleased with how it is coming along.

Next we addressed the coffee table.  She loves cream but it was just too bright.  We called in the talented Kristen and not only did she fit us in her busy schedule...she worked her magic to give us exactly what we wanted.

A very soft "swedish" blue.  So much better huh?

Next...I worked on the bookshelves.
Here is the before

And the after.....

Working with items she already had plus a few additions.

Sofa before...

And after adding the pillows....

She wanted more cream....so we added it to the sofa instead.  I also removed one of the sofa pillows since there so many...it cleaned it up a little.

I hastily staged the coffee table [and a few other areas for pictures :) ] so that is a work in progress...

Also we had talked about putting a small bench here but she had this so I folded her old throw and put some books on it.

This is another area that needs some loving...

I grabbed a silver tray she had.....yes I rooted through her china cabinet .....Everything looks better on a tray.  Plus we needed a little bling here.
Cut some greenery from her yard.....it is probably dead now so I guess I will go over and remove.  We definitely need some softness here.....

Still waiting for new lamps....

A close up of my favorite accessory......

Found a few old books for the cloche.

The vintage books.....

Tillandsia.....my new favorite plant.

Pillows....

Ok...I think what I learned is to take really BAD "before" pictures and that will make your work seem so much better :)

Somebody asked if my client was there when I did the bookshelves.  NO.  I couldn't do them with someone watching....
It is a process....and you have to keep tweaking...by adding and taking away.  Another thing...I brought in a lot of stuff...some of it makes the cut and some not.  That means I am left with a few things [from flea markets] that I can't return.  That is the nature of the beast.  Planning is key.  I almost always think I have way too much stuff.....but I never do.

A little peek of her backyard....Oh boy......

Just a little more to go on this project.......it has definitely been one of my favorites.

I am not really comfortable with self promotion...."oh really Sherry.....what do you think a blog is?"

Ok...so maybe I am.....
If you live in the Atlanta area you might want to attend this....
Another reason to get my hair done....and maybe buy a new outfit! Don't be scared when you meet me in person...Christina got a little carried away with photoshop on my picture....so try not to gasp.

Busy day....returning...and shopping....my fav.

If I don't say it enough....I really appreciate that you take the time to read my blog...and leave such supportive comments.

Giveaway coming Friday.

How the hell did we get to Wednesday so fast?
