THE GREEN BASEMENT REVEAL

Happy Saturday guys!  We are having all kinds of crazy weather here in Atlanta....not like out in California but none the less I go from turning the AC on to turning on the heat:)

I have some reveal pictures today of the green basement that I installed on Tuesday!  I am loving how it turned out....so warm and cozy.  This is a lower level family room but it is right off the playroom so it's nice to have a spot for the grownups to hang while the kids are creating mayhem in the other room.....

On the last post I kind of gave you the basics.  It was painted and most of the furniture had been delivered.  On Tuesday Rose and I did all the styling and there was a big need for that kind of stuff with a long cabinet under the TV and a cabinet that we also ordered.

Let's get to it!

Incase you forgot the walls are SW Pewter Green and the cabinet is BM Duxbury Gray

There were so many books to buy and I am happy to say that most came from second hand stores....I think I used over 40 so that would have been pretty expensive if they were all new....

I wanted this cabinet to feel really edited and not cluttered.....

Below are pictures of the small bar area.  This was just empty unused space.  We added a beverage fridge and pull out trash can.  Great place for snacks and stuff on movie night!

Just in case you forgot....here is what we started with!

The after.....

Here are a few shots of the space and how we orientated all of the furniture....

I love the Lee Industries Sofa and velvet swivel chairs.....

The 2 small end tables are form our fav place Target!

So hard to get good shots down here....well because I am not a professional and I was pretty tired at the end of the day!

Behind the sofa as a very long wall and I am lucky that she already had this beautiful piece....

We really could not paint this wall below because it is at the bottom of the staircase and goes up to the 3rd floor....but I did not want to leave it bare.

I got a great piece of art from my friend Andrea Costa and a vintage rug to tie it all together and warm it up.  Perfect way to bring some green over there....

I am so happy with how it turned out and so is she.  Such a good client...I can't tell you how many times she said "I trust you".....
I love that:)

And here we are....finished with this one except we are waiting for the light fixture to go over the table.
First install in 2023.

I went to Scott's on Thursday...saw some great stuff as usual.  Hope you guys have a good weekend....

THE FINISHED POWDER ROOM

If you are on Instagram you have already seen the results of my bathroom makeover!  Let me say that it's been a while since I have had more fun with design.....

From hatching the idea and collecting the frames and art....I was obsessed with it!

Of course nothing goes off without a few hiccups that's for sure.  I was positive that the install was on Friday until Rose and I were talking Wednesday afternoon and then all of the sudden I panicked.  I texted my installer and he did confirm that I had booked for Thursday....ugh.

OMG!  So Rose kindly called her client to rearrange her appt so she could help me...gotta love a friend like that!  I also had an appt at 1:00 and guess what??

She texted me that she needed to cancel so I did not have to be stressed and in a hurry!

OK....let's get started here!

The before......in case you forgot how bland it was:)

When we got there we put all the smaller ones on the DR table and then taped off the floor so we could get an idea of things......

Then we started with the biggest wall making allowances for the toilet etc.

We started hanging from the top and you will see that after we got this wall hung we ended up hanging one even higher.

I also wanted to hang a shelf over the toilet....just to break it up a little....

Then we got ahead of ourselves and stopped to figure out which rug to use.  Ha Ha.

We liked them both but 2 things....the larger one was too close to the toilet....if you know what I mean...wink wink.  And we felt like the smaller one was more neutral and there would already be so many focal points in the room!

So there you have it in the rug department!

Moving on....

Detail shots!  Mind you I have not gotten a plumber over there yet to change out the faucet!

At the last minute I decided I wanted a cross in the mix and I thought that would be easy to find.  Nope.  So I popped into a very tiny thrift store and found this one for 4.00.  Moral of the story....don't give up!

Very hard to get pictures in this space!

I am still so pleased with my mirror find....just enough bling for this space....

Loving this vintage shelf I found at Antiques and Beyond a few days before install!

I am trying to give you shots of all the art....this is the wall to the right when you walk in....

Rose and I both thought it would be good to break up the art with a mirror, turtle shell, the cross and the basket!

I can't wait to get the faucet changed out....but dang I think it's pretty epic!

Trash can, hand towels, infuser on the shelf and kleenex box from BD Jefferies.

Hope you enjoyed the tour and I gave you some inspiration.

Love you guys!

UPDATING A BORING POWDER ROOM

Hey y'all....happy fall!  Today I might actually be able to wear a sweater here in Atlanta.....

Let's just dive right in......I am going to share my thoughts on updating this plain ordinary powder room and what I am going to do with it to make it "sing"......:)

Here she be....typical builders blah powder room!  It has high ceilings and that is about it!

Here comes the paint!

I went with BM Wrought Iron....I was going to go with SW Tricorn Black but it just seemed to severe to me so I changed it at the last minute....

The faucet was an inexpensive Delta so I am swapping it out with the same brand but in a satin gold color and I also ordered a new light fixture.

I struggled over what finish to order the light fixture in but decided to go with the dark bronze....I know a lot of the art has gold frames so I had to put the breaks on the gold....haha!

I went to my favorite flea market....Antiques and Beyond here in Atlanta and after finding 4 different mirrors I stumbled on this one and knew immediately I found the perfect one!

So next up is the art.  I wanted to do all kinds of art so I started hunting for vintage frames at many flea markets....as you know the frames are the most expensive part and it would have cost a mint to have them all custom framed!

I scored all of these in one day from a few different places!

I bought some art at Scott's Antique Market!

I also bought quite a few pieces from this amazing artist at Scotts.  You can find her on Instagram @vsidesart

This is some of the art from my first haul.....

I am at the frame shop here trying to decide which art goes in which frame and picking out the matting....

Sometimes if I like a frame but it has ugly art in it I will still buy!

I picked these up at the framers yesterday!  SO EXCITED!!

I used the Fast Frame here in Atlanta on Piedmont Road.

Still need to find a small vintage rug for this space...hope to secure this today!  The art install is Friday so stay tuned on Instagram for some pictures in Stories.....

I have to say that this client is amazing....every time I text her something her reply is "whatever you think"!  I mean dream client right!

OK....Cami has nudged me about 5 times wanting her walk.....so I must run!

Hope you all are having a wonderful week.....mine has been a bit difficult but I am trying to stay focused on the good things and I always know there are so many people who are struggling more than I am.

Always.

Sherika
