ATLANTA HOLIDAY HOME 2019

I guess you figured out that I didn't post yesterday....can't fool you guys:)  I had to run out to a curtain install very early and I wasn't finished organizing all of these showhouse pictures.....soooooo I just ghosted.

But.....I'm up early on a Saturday before I go teach my spin class so if you are around this weekend....definitely GO!

I have a huge treat for you today.....some gorgeous pictures of the Atlanta Holiday Home.  I was invited to Media Day where I proceeded to snap away but then they sent me some professional ones.....so that is good for y'all!

This years house was a renovation [they are usually new builds] by Harrison Designs and I know I say this every year but I loved it!  It was set on a beautiful piece of property with privacy.

The kitchen was incredible.....check it out!

Chris Holt of Holt Interiors

Are you killing me?  Those ceilings.....I died.

Below the pantry by Shawn Amtower

Look at all of those dark walls....makes me plain giddy!

The mudroom was spectacular!  Enwright Design.  I would say don't bring any mud in
here :)

This space by Anna Braund Interiors was a knockout.  The ceiling was so high gloss it looked like glass!   The color of this room is F B Studio Green

This is the front entry.....by Anna Louise Wolf.  So darn pretty!

The dining room by my friend Jena Salmon was delightful......

Beautiful master bedroom by James Wheeler Designs.

The master bath by Tish Mills was pretty incredible.  You felt like you were in a tree house!
Yes there were motorized blinds.

Snappy laundry room by Beth Kooby

Off the mudroom there was a tower designed by Jimmy Stanton.

Wall color is BM Dark Pewter.  Might be a new favorite.....

Lower level space by Maggie Griffin sponsored by Ballard designs.

I have more pictures of this guest bedroom by McLaurin Interiors below which was a great mix of traditional and modern

The showhouse is open Thursday-Sunday.  Sponsored by Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles.

Guess what?  I am headed to Boulder for Thanksgiving.  Very excited.
AND.....I don't have a house to stage.....yup this trip is for pleasure.
AND....I have a great house sitter to take care of Cami which really is a relief!

Things are pretty status quo around here.  We are headed into the holidays and I'm not gonna lie.....I've been struggling a little.  I am going to rely on my friends and family incredibly hard through these next few months.

If you don't hear from me next week....I might be sleeping which is something that hasn't come easy lately.

A very Happy Thanksgiving to all of my supportive readers.  You guys are a rare bunch:)

THANKSGIVING THOUGHTS

According to Instagram and Facebook it looks like everyone stuffed themselves and had a good time with family!

I was thinking yesterday how blessed I am to have siblings.  As you get older you think about being alone more and more.  My parents are gone and have been for over 20 years.  I remember when my Mom was dying.....she told all 4 of us that we need to stick together.  No matter what.

We might disagree about things but we are all we have now.  I think I have blogged about this before but I was so lucky to have Eleanor "Sis" Crawford Jackson as my Mom.  She taught me about real love and forgiveness.

She had to forgive herself for doing something that goes against her very core.  Give up a child for adoption.....which we learned about after her death.

The facts are kind of fuzzy as it was a huge secret and most of her family is gone.  The details aren't really that important but she did try to tell us during the last few days of her life however I think she was still afraid to share..... having kept the secret for over 50 years.  We aren't even sure my Dad knew.

After giving up her child she moved to San Antonio, Texas and met my Dad.  They were married within a couple of weeks and I was born 9 months later.  The picture above defines their relationship....I believe they were meant to be together.....for 45 years until he died of a heart attack at 63.

About a year or so ago my sister got an email from our brother.  He is a few years older that I am........was adopted and had a great life.  He came to Atlanta for a visit.

I think he wanted to know what his biological Mom was like and maybe have closure on his part about why she gave him up.  We all answered as many questions as we could to help peace together the story.

All of this today is because I was listening to a podcast....Armchair Expert with Dax Sheppard.

His guest was Gordon Keith [who I had not heard of] but the two of them are pretty darn funny together!  Dax was talking about his Dad who he was estranged from until about the last few months of his life.  He talked about resentment and holding a grudge....to never make peace because you are determined to WIN.

I know friends who are estranged from a parent....or a child because they feel they have been wronged but I don't think that has to be your identity.  There are many times I have felt victimized in life but I don't want it to define me  because being right is not that important in the end.

You know like "you'll show them"  "when I die they will be sorry".....I kind of think you are the one who will be sorry.

I can honestly say that there is NOTHING any of my family could do that I would not forgive.

Whoa...enough preaching.

My sister had us over for dinner since my brother stayed with his family in Hilton Head and my other sister was in California having dinner with her mother in law who is 98, still drives, pays her own bills and walks 2 miles a day!

I was so thankful to have a sister that owns a restaurant [so I did not have to cook....].

We came home and finished up Netflix Narcos Mexico.

Quiet times.

KIPS BAY PALM BEACH SHOWHOUSE

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We arrived home from Tucson yesterday afternoon and it was so good to see Cami's little face:)

We were visiting my husbands brother and his wife who are "hikers".  When I was packing I threw in all my cute outfits and at the last minute one workout outfit just in case I could squeeze in a walk.

Hahahahaha.  I never even got to wear anything BUT that!  We hiked everyday so I had to come home each afternoon and wash my one "hiking" outfit.

Jokes on me.

This warning before a hike had me on edge...
If you have spent any time with me you will also learn that I don't like spiders, snakes and now I will throw bears on that list.

So back to Tucson....the city that brings new meaning to the color beige, tan, brown, beigey tan and every shade in between....

I was shocked not to see one white house and it became a joke amongst us of my obsession with white!  You guys already know this about me....

We were hiking down near the border of Mexico close to Nogales and ended up having lunch in a cute little place called The Wisdom's Cafe.

Here is what you need to know....the reward after the hike is a good lunch and a libation!

During a downtown tour I did spot the one yellow building with a turquoise door....take note Tucson....you need more of this!

Am I the last to know that cactus can be purple?

And as if they were reading my mind we did come across a white commercial building.....

These cuties were right outside their backyard...

Not that I cook....but these were served and the fact that you can cook in the microwave was a "win win" for me.  One day I will make it to Costco for the second time!

If you need a good book to read I highly recommend this one which I read on the plane.

It makes me think I need to do more with my life.

Matthew Quinn [kitchen king] has just finished installing the Kips Bay Palm Beach Showhouse and apparently it was down to the wire!  Hopefully the paint is dry as it opens Dec 4th.

House Beautiful posted a few pictures!
