FASHION

I knew some of you would ask for tips on getting the finishes from the faux painter......and I wish I could help you out on that.  Unfortunately he won't divulge his secrets.....since that is his trade.  I know you get it:)

My advice is to research it on Google....you know you can find anything if you give it a little effort!

If you have been following me on Instagram then you know I have been posting my #outfitoftheday and it's been fun getting y'alls comments!  Here is the deal....my first love before design was always fashion....and when I look at what I wear it kind of reminds me of my design style.  Tailored....not fussy and fairly neutral.

The last few days I have been working on a fashion post for you.  I have tried to stick to basics.....things that can be used over and over again with adding maybe one new thing or 2.

So we start with white jeans....which are now definitely a staple in most wardrobes!

I gave you 2 options for shoes....if I wore this all day I would opt for the sneakers but maybe for a client meeting I would throw on the red mules!  I always like to have a canvas bag to carry samples and such in.

The other day I posted how I wore these camo pants on Instagram.  I got them at the Gap and they are really comfy!

I love throwing in a little pink....the thought being it adds a feminine touch to this look!

Back to white jeans again but with a different twist!  And Lord I love a denim shirt....for just about any occasion!

This whole outfit started with the belt!  I love it:)

Last up is almost a uniform for me....and perfect for a day like today in Atlanta.....rain!  I gave you a choice with the shoes because I thought these plaid booties were so cute!  And the fact that they are black and white....well all the better.

I bet if you look in your closet you have most of these things and that makes it easy to update like I said with a couple of new things....

Just a few words about yesterday.  It was the longest day ever.....11 hours.  I have lot's of thoughts about it and will write more when I am not so emotionally drained.

But today is a new day and I am off to workout so I can feel better about me....then an incredibly busy day at work so I can keep my mind occupied.

BEFORE AND AFTER

Another week has passed.....it seems like it's Monday and then blah blah blah it's Friday right?

Remember when you were a kid and you thought Christmas would NEVER come.....time was so slow.  Now that I am older it's just speeding along and I will be gumming my food before I know it.

I posted about this project before but just the living room....which is not quite finished.  Today I have a few updates on the family room which isn't complete yet either but heck it seems like that is where I am on all my projects!

They moved in and did a small renovation so after the dust settled it was time for the fun part.  A three year old and one on the way [plus 2 dogs] means performance EVERYTHING right!  This space will be used hard:)

Let's start with the plan.....

The room is kind of dark so we decided to stick with neutrals.....surprise huh:)

Before

After

So I used my favorite Lee Industries swivel slipcovered chairs.......

This cute end table we ordered from Anthropologie......

The end tables are from Pottery Barn.....I used glass because we kept the trunk coffee table [for storage] and it's nice to add some breathing space.

Since we wanted something light on the floors we used this indoor/outdoor carpet cut and bound.

On the plus side it is pretty soft and not scratchy at all.

Before

After

This gorgeous sofa [from Charles Stewart Furniture] is covered in Crypton performance fabric.  It's major comfy and I like that it has the pretty modern wood legs....paring nicely with the skirts on the chairs.

Before

I worked on the bookshelves....using my friendly Homegoods and Target for a few trinkets:)

I scored these lamps at Homegoods and they could not be more perfect.....just enough texture and the beige lampshade.

So there are still some changes coming.....but it's a good start!

Hope you guys have a great weekend....last night my husband and I celebrated our 24th anniversary.
We actually eloped to Ringgold Georgia:)

This is pretty much the only picture we have and it cost 10.00 to have them take it!  I know right.....

The hair.
The white t shirt and black vest.
The decor.

Judge away......

PROGRESS ON MY KITCHEN MAKEOVER

Are y'all just sick to death of me?  I mean I've been blabbing on and on about my project like world peace depends on it.

I promise it's almost done and then of course I won't be able to show you the whole thing until after the issue comes out [it's the winter issue so there won't be much of a wait].

But you know I can sneak some angles:)

I really need to thank Atlanta Magazine's Home for lighting a fire under me.  I would still be looking around thinking to myself "is it REALLY that outdated?"

Hahahahaha.  Yes it was and definitely time for a change.

Here is where we are....

Tile went in and to say I am happy with my decision of the 5 x 5 size is an understatement.

It. Is. Perfect.

I decided no shelves....keep it clean.
Grouted with a light gray from Home Depot....no time to order a special color:)

I just about died when I saw the Currey and Co Manuscript sconces go up.  I mean heart stopping craziness....please...the backplate!

  The mirror inside.

I am hoping to stain my shelves today....they take 48 hours to dry and I am so ready to get all of my dishes off the DR table.

I am going with Minwax Classic Gray.

I started styling my book shelves....but the paint is still sticky so it's slow going.....

Kinda weird cause my old shelves were pine and I used a lot of white.  Since these are white it's a whole new ballgame and I'm liking it!

Of course to say I am obsessed with black and white is an understatement.

Constantly searching online for accessories [like I don't have enough].

I stumbled on these from Anthropologie

Maybe a cute rug near the sink.....

Love the art and of course those vases have my name on them right?

Outdoor rug, art and that tassel.....yes please!

I already ordered my wallpaper for a couple of places but I love these.  And that throw is pretty swell along with the art!

Still have my Grohe faucet to be installed and today the curtains are going in!

It's like my birthday everyday:)

Of course everything has that wonderful layer of dust on it so I will be busy cleaning all weekend.

13 days until the photoshoot!

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 4

Week 4 of the ORC has arrived which means 2 short weeks to go.  Yikes.

Just to recap.....if this is your first visit we have 20 designers....one room.....and 6 small weeks.  Emphasis on the 6 small weeks!

The CEO of all this is Linda from Calling It Home

I'm not gonna sugarcoat it....a challenge it is.

Enough yakking  right?  How about we get to the updates of the "bunny hutch" now.

I am doing my sister's [a former Playboy Bunny] family room.  You can read more about her here

The cabinets on both sides of the FP got painted and we decided on hardware.

That would be these from Anthropologie .
Swanky huh.

Those Mitchell Gold chairs came back from the upholster and  they look pretty darn great against the wallpaper.

I had a moment of panic that the whole room was looking like a bowl of oatmeal Translation: boring

The wallpaper was definitely a game changer.

I love how it looks next to the planks.

TV was moved....

The butcher block countertops

We have real progress in the kitchen with paint and shelves done!

Let's see....what else

After I saw Abby's great collection from Minted  [one of our sponsors] I got on the ball and ordered a few pieces to go along with my Ashley Hizer painting.  I didn't want to give it up but I think it will be perfect in "the hutch"!

At Scott's I purchased a small bench to go behind the sofa.  It was a steal at 40.00!

The light fixture was hug and I kind of love it.
You know me and "patina"....we're buds:)

And now the real work begins....putting the room together and styling it.

We all know that this is where things can go wrong.....always scared.

But whatev.  We aren't curing cancer here.

I am eager to see the updates from everyone else.
