I love New York (barring Trump Tower) and one of my favourite quirks of the city is the steam pipes that spring up on their roads. Designer Mark Reigelman came up with this clever idea, albeit temporary, to cover them with little buildings with chimneys. Found at Mocoloco

Beds at The Prairie by Rachel Ashwell
Like a scene from The Princes and The Pea. Beds at Rachel Ashwell's accommodations to let at The Prairie in Texas. Well she's the Queen of Shabby Chic so we would expect no less.

A Piece of New York History
I will never forget my first ever visit to New York. I was exhausted after taking a walk due to all the WALK DONT WALK signs at every junction, of which there are many.
These genuine signs can be bought from Walk Dont Walk Signs in the UK. Note they don't have the ' in don't if you see what I mean.

OK, So You Walked All Over Us
but there's no need to hold a party every year to celebrate.
Just joking - A Very Happy 4th of July to all my American readers.

Happy Thanksgiving From Over Here
Even though we have no such celebration here in the UK I wish all my American friends a Very Happy Thanksgiving.

Following The Leader - Day 1 Of The Rest Of Our Lives
President Obama's To Do List
- Finish the war in Iraq.
- Come down hard on the people who caused this massive economic downturn and make sure they never do it again.
- Say or do SOMETHING that will stop the death and destruction in Gaza ever happening again.
- Stop this crazy War on Terror and start talking to the enemy. We did it in Northern Ireland and now there is peace.
- Show our leaders here in the UK how to CHANGE.
- Speak in a language everyone understands when talking about Responsibility.
- Show people how to live a healthy and fruitful life.
- Help to educate those who have lost their way. We are on to the third generation of people who just DO NOT UNDERSTAND.
- Give your countrymen, all of them, the healthcare they deserve not what they can afford.
- Make it WORK so that other leaders from around the World follow your lead.
- Remember that the eyes of the World are on you but you need to keep your eyes on the road ahead of you.
- Understand that YOU are the man who can make it happen.

Blooming New York
I'm sure Takashimaya wasn't in New York last time I visited and if it had I would have been in like Flynn. Not only do they do fabulous flower arrangements but a stack of very carefully chosen fashions and home items.

Yes You Did and I Thank You
In my lifetime I have never known a US Election that was so important to everyone around the world. Here in the UK we watched with bated breath and when I awoke this morning and found out that Barack Obama was the new US President I felt so truly elated.
I am old enough to remember when the blacks of America where far from equal. I remember Martin Luther King being assassinated and more importantly I remember thinking that it would never change but change it has.
Thank You America!

God Help You America
I don't get political very often here but I just had to show this flow chart that I found over at Swiss Miss.
We in the UK have nothing in no control at all as to who is elected to the White House but we are scared to death that this woman ends up there. I watched the debate and this is exactly how it went.
Aw shucks she's no Maverick.

Happy 4th of July
OK so you won the War of Independence and we didn't but no hard feelings. Being an English Rose and having a penchant for Dom Perignon Pink Champagne, I will spend today celebrating on your behalf.
I raise my glass to all you lovely people over the pond.

Let Me Loose In Here
This is the new M.A.C Pro shop in New York. MAC as in make-up not computers. I would love to be in this space and even more I would love my studio to look like this.

Found In The Bronx
Sherrie and Marcel Deans stumbled upon a 16-room mansion in the Bronx last year and just look what they found. I love a story like this.
The mansion had been untouched for decades and had all its original features intact, even the fabulous chandelier was still there. They found numerous artifacts, books and the original blueprints of the house.
This lucky couple hope to move in this Spring. I found this wonderful tale at The New York Times website where you can see more pictures and the whole story.

Happy 4th of July - No Hard Feelings
I'm taking a day off blogging in honour of all my American blogging friends and here's a message especially for each and every one of them. Even though you beat us Brits in the War of Independance I hold no grudges. Enjoy your day!
