O*h***m*y***g *o*o*d*n*e*s*s*!
I just went over to Pixel Scrapper, an AWESOME website where you receive credit downloads everyday that you can spend on templates, papers, embellishments, etc. The more you get involved the more credits you earn. You can also choose to download items with a 'personal use only' or a 'commercial use' license. I've only been a member for a few weeks but I love it because by purchasing the CU license I get to offer up freebies for you to use on handmade cards you intend to sell. Well, I was deciding how to spend my 'Christmas present' of 25 bonus credits, when I decided to do a test first. I wasn't sure whether to spend my credits on png overlays or psd files. The overlays I've figured out how to colour in Inkscape. However, I decided to wade into the Photo Shop Elements waters and see if I could manage something as simple as playing around with colouring a paper. I really didn't hold up much hope because I haven't even figured out how to create a text box, add text, edit it, etc and I've had the program for over six months now. I can't even find the 'select' tool! Sheesh, I need a Photoshop for Dummies book. Do they make them????
Anyways, off I went and noticed the 'paint bucket tool'. I thought that if it worked anything like it does in Inkscape, I just might be able to change the colours. When I clicked on the image, it told me I couldn't edit until I simplified the layers. Huh? So, of course I said 'go ahead'. I looked over to the side and noticed that it was broken down into horizontal, vertical and background layers. I went over and poked at it a bit and found out I could deselect certain layers, colour those and then save it as a png. So, I couldn't wait to share what I created with you. However, I suppose I should have saved them as jpgs to same some space since they aren't transparent. Oh well, it is already after 5:00 am, maybe next time.
I started off with a dark green colour primarily because it was the one available. I managed to figure out how to change the colour after five attempts and found a complimentary lighter green. So here is my first one.
Follower Freebie #23: In honour of 'G-ma' who became a follower on Nov. 1st.
While the paper could work for the spring season, I wanted to do one more relevant for now (well for the northern hemisphere anyways) , so I created a blue one.
Follower Freebie #24: In honour of 'craftingpassionz' who became a follower that same day.
Then I decided to play with both the layers together and created this one.
Follower Freebie #25: In honour of 'Pingvinmamman' who became a follower on Nov. 2nd.
I know, I know. "Blue and Green should never be seen unless it is in the washing machine' but I kind of like how it turned out.
Each of the papers are 3600x3600 pixels.
Can you imagine what I'll be able to come up with when I actually learn how to use the program? I can't wait. I just wish there was a book I could put under my pillow so I could learn it by osmosis. I did that sometimes when cramming for exams in high school and I think it did help. It's all about the power of believing right?
Well, it is time to go to bed. Unfortunately, I know sleep will be more difficult than usual because my brain will be playing around with all the possible combinations of papers I will be able to create now. He, He, He!
Hope someone can find a use for them.
Until next time,
