Wonderful Wednesday: Paper Play for March

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

I don't know why, but when I think of paper for Easter, I often think of plaids.  I've offered you a blue and green combination in the past but this time I'm going to offer something more reflective of a softer pastel look.

It is 3600 x 3600 pixels and in jpg format.  I created it in Photoshop Essentials using a template.  I realize it clashes with my current background but I promise it does look better on a white background.  Here you go...

Now you have two items for your March kit.  I'd love to see what you come up with if you use it.  What is up for next week?  Well, I'm not telling so you'll just have to come back and see for yourself

Until next time,

Wonderful Wednesday: Paper Play for February

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

The Digital Design Diva (a.k.a. my inspiration fairy) has been influence by all the love she is seeing around her.  Hearts here, hearts there, hearts everywhere!  Especially with it being the day before Valentine's Day.  So, you guessed it, with hearts on the brain, this weeks she I am offering up a traditional Valentine's themed paper for the February Kit.

It is 3600 x 3600 pixels (really it is the correct size for a change) and in jpg format.  I created it in Photoshop Essentials (yeah me!) using a template.  I've chosen softer colours this time at the request of a follower. Here you go...

Now you have two items for your February kit.  I'd love to see what you come up with if you use it.  What is up for next week?  Well, I'm not telling so you'll just have to come back and see for yourself

Until next time,

Note: I apologize if there are any formatting issues.  This is a scheduled post and we all know Blogger has a mind of it's own.  If it turns out that something looks wonky, I'll fix it as soon as I'm able to.

Wonderful Wednesdays: Paper Play for January

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

The Digital Design Diva (a.k.a. my inspiration fairy) has been at it again. This week I'm offering up Paper Play with a winter themed paper for the January Kit.

It is a good thing I had most of it done last week because with all the cards I've been creating I almost forget to finish it.  As it is, it's already Thursday in New Zealand and other parts of the world.  I guess you guys could call it Thrilling Thursday since I am so late.  However, that might be pushing it.  The paper doesn't really pass as thrilling does it?  Oh well, I tried...

It is (cough) roughly 3600 x 3600 pixels and in png format.  It wouldn't be made by me if it was exact now would it?  Here you go...

Okay, here you don't go.  Blogger is doing something strange right now.  I tried uploading the png version of the paper three times.  I then logged out of everything and tried again but to no avail.  For some reason, every time I tried uploading it here, it ended up with a black frame around it.  Since Nikki over at Melonheadz had been having some similar issues I thought maybe it was a png issue.  However, that wasn't it because I just tried uploading some old png files that I created previously and they uploaded fine.  So, if I am going to offer it up to you, it will have to be as a jpg.  Anyone else having similar image upload issues?

Since I had to convert it to a jpg, this one is actually 3600 x 3600.

Now you have two items for your January kit.  Hopefully I'll have a chance to add another to it this month.

Until next time,

Follower Freebies 23 -25: New Papers

O*h***m*y***g *o*o*d*n*e*s*s*!

I just went over to Pixel Scrapper, an AWESOME website where you receive credit downloads everyday that you can spend on templates, papers, embellishments, etc.  The more you get involved the more credits you earn.  You can also choose to download items with a 'personal use only' or a 'commercial use' license.  I've only been a member for a few weeks but I love it because by purchasing the CU license I get to offer up freebies for you to use on handmade cards you intend to sell.  Well, I was deciding how to spend my 'Christmas present' of 25 bonus credits, when I decided to do a test first.  I wasn't sure whether to spend my credits on png overlays or psd files.  The overlays I've figured out how to colour in Inkscape.  However, I decided to wade into the Photo Shop Elements waters and see if I could manage something as simple as playing around with colouring a paper.  I really didn't hold up much hope because I haven't even figured out how to create a text box, add text, edit it, etc and I've had the program for over six months now.  I can't even find the 'select' tool!  Sheesh, I need a Photoshop for Dummies book. Do they make them????

Anyways, off I went and noticed the 'paint bucket tool'.  I thought that if it worked anything like it does in Inkscape, I just might be able to change the colours.  When I clicked on the image, it told me I couldn't edit until I simplified the layers.  Huh?  So, of course I said 'go ahead'.  I looked over to the side and noticed that it was broken down into horizontal, vertical and background layers.  I went over and poked at it a bit and found out I could deselect certain layers, colour those and then save it as a png.  So, I couldn't wait to share what I created with you.  However, I suppose I should have saved them as jpgs to same some space since they aren't transparent.  Oh well, it is already after 5:00 am, maybe next time.

I started off with a dark green colour primarily because it was the one available.  I managed to figure out how to change the colour after five attempts and found a complimentary lighter green.  So here is my first one.

Follower Freebie #23:    In honour of 'G-ma' who became a follower on Nov. 1st.

While the paper could work for the spring season, I wanted to do one more relevant for now (well for the northern hemisphere anyways) , so I created a blue one.

Follower Freebie #24:    In honour of 'craftingpassionz' who became a follower that same day.

Then I decided to play with both the layers together and created this one.

Follower Freebie #25:    In honour of 'Pingvinmamman' who became a follower on Nov. 2nd.

I know, I know.  "Blue and Green should never be seen unless it is in the washing machine' but I kind of like how it turned out.

Each of the papers are 3600x3600 pixels.

Can you imagine what I'll be able to come up with when I actually learn how to use the program?  I can't wait.  I just wish there was a book I could put under my pillow so I could learn it by osmosis.  I did that sometimes when cramming for exams in high school and I think it did help.  It's all about the power of believing right?

Well, it is time to go to bed.  Unfortunately, I know sleep will be more difficult than usual because my brain will be playing around with all the possible combinations of papers I will be able to create now. He, He, He!

Hope someone can find a use for them.

Until next time,

Tuesday Alchemy Challenge #47

It's time for my first challenge as a Design Team member over at Tuesday Alchemy today!  Challenge 47 is about Hopes, Dreams & Resolutions, and there's TWO awesome prizes up for grabs!

A $10 Gift Certificate from

AND
count them, seven Digital Images from

So head on over to
and join the challenge!

Now, it seems fitting that we had to make a project based on our hopes and dreams and/or a new year's resolution.  I'm not one for making resolutions but I do try to set goals for myself.  Thus, I came up with the perfect thing for me to work on this year--CONFIDENCE!  If you've been following my blog these past two months you know that I've struggled with the issue of believing in my own talents and abilities.  So, working on building confidence as one of my aims this year just seems fitting, doesn't it?

Here is the front of the card I created as my very first project as a design team member (can you tell I'm proud of that fact, or what)...

and here is the inside of the card...

Hmmmm.....Maybe I should mail this card to myself as incentive.

Anyways, here are the card details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...
  • Digital stamp of the mouse and bear is from Beccy's Place (clicking on the link will take you directly to the free image).  It is coloured using Copic(R) markers.  Flower:  Y11, Y13, Y15 and Y17. Mouse:  R20, R22 (ears); C1, C3, C5 (body) Bear: R20, R22 (ears); W1, W3, W5 (body); B00 (eyes); B00, B02, B05 (jacket); G20, G24 (ascot and hankerchief).  Ground: G00.  I also used a black watercolour pencil to add the texture of fur to both creatures.
  • Paper:  The card base and thin turquoise blue vertical strip on the front is from Recollection's Cardstock Paper--Cape Cod collection purchased at Michael's; the green and yellow/green floral paper and the blues/greens/ivory floral paper I used are both from the K & C Company--The Best of K & C 360 page paper pad that I got at WalMart.  The small blue square from the front and rectangle from inside is from a pastels collection I picked up at Dollarama awhile back.  The base for the 'believe' tag and the inside sentiment are from Recollection's Cardstock Paper--White paper pack.
  • I cut the tag out by hand after stamping it with a Studio G stamp using Mememto Bahama Blue.  The inside sentiment is an awesome one from TLC-Creations.  Thanks Paulette for the inspiration behind the creation of this card.
  • The theme over at Stamp Your Life is New Beginnings and your interpretation of that.  For some that may be a new baby, a new house, or a lifestyle change.  For me it is all about a new attitude of believing more in myself and working on my confidence.
  • This is also my first official use of a sketch (okay, well there was that one I stole I mean borrowed from a design I saw Crafting Vicky use).  It is from My Favourite Things, sketch 99.  Now, since I've never posted a sketch on my blog before, I'm going to assume I'm allowed to since I've seen other people do it.  Someone please let me know if I'm in the wrong.

Challenges I will be entering the card into:
There may be a few more added to the list throughout the week.

Well I guess that is it for my very first post as a DT member.  Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to leave some love if you have the time.

Until next time,

Holiday Handout: Day 9

Today's handout is based on an idea I got at A Look Through My Eyes.  Deb's daughter created some papers for Deb to pass out.  One of them was a Christmas paper using an element from another designer.  Which started me thinking about another way to utilize the designs of great designers who have graciously allowed me to use their designs in my own work.   I've offered it flat and textured to suit different purposes.  What do you think?

I've offered the jpg version here due to file size.  If you would like the png version just email me and I'd be happy to send it to you.  Again, the papers should be 1800x1800 but could end up much larger depending on the program you use.

Please note that due to the nature of this design, you may not use it on products you intend to sell since the foreground image is for personal use only with no profit generation.  If you use this paper please ensure that you also credit Romiposer 11 for the image.

The Christmas countdown continues...

  Until next time,
