Card Design: Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge #6-First Card

Once again, it is time to submit my cards for the Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge.  Now this month I'm doing things a bit differently.  Instead of the usual back to back post of both my cards, I'll be posting this first one now and then the next one next Wednesday as I will be combining the second LAPCC image we received with another card I need to do.

Let's start shall we...

Each month Lady Anne hosts a progressive Christmas Challenge where we get two images to play with.  As long as we submit a card with at least one of them, we are eligible to receive two more the next month.  Awesome arrangement.  While there hasn't been any official word, they are holding a DT call for the Chirstmas Challenge with a six month term attached.  That sort of says to me that this challenge is going to continue.  Woo hoo!  That means incentive to get more cards into the Christmas pot.  With this challenge, once I have completed my second card, I'll be up to 12.  YaY!

This month the sponsor is
That turned out interesting as they are also the sponsor over on
The Path of Positivity Challenge blog this month too!

Here is my card and details.  I hope I don't forget anything...

General Information:
  • I had fun with this month's image.  I decided, like last time, I wanted to play around with the concept of three.  So casing a sketch idea I saw on my wonderful friend Jennifer Dunn's blog, My Cubby Crafts, a little while back, I came up with this concept.
  • Oh and don't you just love my display easel?  I certainly do!  I've been looking for something to use to display my cards in a nicer way for quite awhile now but wasn't able to find anything at the dollar store.  Yup, I'm a big spender when it comes to these things.  Anyways, during our last visit (that is the hubs and I), I found these really cool little easels that came with a mini canvas.  Well, I've put aside the canvas for future use (maybe one day I'll get back into painting) and am making use of the easel.  While it makes the cards look smaller in the post, I think that it makes it look more professional.  To adjust for the smaller size, I've increased the resolution of the image so that when you bring it up in the lightbox you'll be able to pick up more of the detail.

FRONT

Digital Image:
  • The image of the ornament is from DigiStamps4Joy.  I coloured it digitally to match my DP, replicated it two more times and then fussy cut each image leaving a bit of space around each.
    • Now if you've seen the original image, you'll have noticed it has the creator, Jen Leeflang's, signature on it.  Now I wasn't going to cut it off because that would have been inappropriate; however, the size and location of it took away from the look I was trying to achieve.  Now while it isn't readily visible in the picture I took, it has been resized and moved to blend in better with the images.  It is there on all three ornaments.  I just don't want Jen or DS4J think I'm showing any disrespect because the name is no longer easily visible.

INSIDE

Digital Image:
  • I chose to have my inside DP reflect my Christmas message and decided to create a blank space to write something more personal.
    •  All I did was create a large circle to represent the outline of the ornament from the front and then took one of the ornaments itself, enlarged it so that I could use just the top, and then merged the two images together.  I'm quite pleased with the effect. I'm tired of using squares and rectangles but without dies, it isn't really possible to do any shape that is too complicated to cut out by hand, when using digital sentiments.
Paper Products:
  • Designer Papers (DP):  All of the papers used in this project are from the Recollection's Bright Christmas paper pad.
Challenges I hope to enter:
I may add to this list throughout the week and or month.

As I mentioned earlier, I'll be back next week to show off the second image I received from Lady Anne.  And can you believe it?  I am actually a whole week ahead in getting this first card done.  Will wonders never cease...now if I could just catch up with all my computer work.  That would be a true miracle, Christmas or otherwise.

Until next time,
