http://pattiescreationschallenge.blogspot.ca

Hey folks! I'm here today to announce the next challenge over at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge. This time around for Challenge #134, the theme is For the Girls--Use a Feminine Image. With Mother's Day coming up it's the perfect time to create a card with a feminine image. Here is my card, I hope that I haven't forgotten any important details:

General Info:
  • This card has been created 100% digitally and then layered in a Mock Up (courtesy of Frisk Shop). I will print it out and assemble it a later date.

    • I have applied shadow layer styles to give certain elements some depth. These styles were designed by Sheila Reid, Pixel Scrapper.

Challenges I am hoping to enter...

You have until June 1st to enter our challenge which should give you lots of time to get a creation done. Remember the theme is For the Girls and you must use a Feminine Image. I really hope that you will be able to join us. You can enter twice per challenge and of course MUST follow all the challenge requirements that are posted for each challenge (please click HERE to become familiar with all the rules). In addition to all the typical criterion, you MUST USE A DIGITAL OR STAMPED IMAGE to qualify for the drawing (unless stated otherwise). We would absolutely love to see you use a Pattie's Creations (PC) image on your card, but you are allowed to use other images. If you do use a PC image, you will gain an extra entry in the draw and will have a better chance to WIN!  Easy Peasy right!

Pop over to the challenge blog and check out what my fabulous teammates have offered up for inspiration. Oh and don't forget...Pattie offers up a new freebie the first Friday of the month and it will remain up for approximately two weeks; so, be sure to pop over and check it out as well!

Well guys, that is it for this one. Hopefully I will see you all very soon. I miss you guys!

    Until next time,

    Card Design: Imagine That...Koalas

Good evening all!  It is high time that I show you my first Imagine That! Digis by Kris project for May.  It has been completed for over a week but I haven't had time to create a post until now!  As my spaghetti sauce simmered I got this post started and then after supper finished it.  Every minute counts these days!

Before I get started, I have some important information about the store to share with you.  Kris has found a way to to sell everything from the same platform.  So regardless of whether you live in the European Union or not, after some serious revamping, the sets can now be found in the same location.

Okay...so now on to my card and the details.  Check it out...

    General Info:

    • I created this card for my mom for Mother's Day.  In Canada, the US and 84 other countries, Mother's Day was celebrated last Sunday (May 10th). However, did you know that Mother's Day is celebrated this year in one country or another, every single month of the year except for September?  So, it is always a great time to share your special cards honouring mothers.
    • Unfortunately, I just don't seem to be happy with how this card turned out.  The lace is too close to the colour of the background and I feel like it is missing something but when I tried to add different embellishments, it just looked lopsided.  At least my momma still liked it which is all that counts in the end.

    FRONT
    Digital Image Details:
    • Koalas: This set is just so sweet and versatile too.  All Kris' sets are very versatile.  As a consumer, that is one feature I really value!  As usual, I've chosen to work with the coloured version for this project.  I added faux stitching with a pen around the edges before fussy cutting the image out.  Please click on the watermark below to find the set in the store.

    Cricut Cartridge:
    • The shape used on front and its background is available on the Paper Lace II cartridge.
    Digital Sentiment Details:
    • This great circle sentiment is from Netty's Cards.  You can find it and more fabulous freebies by clicking HERE and clicking on the freebies tab at the top of the page.  If you grab any of them, be sure to leave Netty some love.
    Embellishments:
    • The lace is Crafts brand and was purchased at Dollarama.

      INSIDE
      Digital Sentiment:
      • This fabulous sentiment was created by Paulette from Create with TLC.  I picked it up as a freebie.  Check out Paulette's wonderful blog by clicking HERE or click HERE to go to the store.

Card Design: Two Challenges -- One Card

This month I've decided to create a card using the stamp that I got in the Imagine That progressive challenge to create the front of my card and then take a freebie I got from MelJen's to create the inside of my card.

First up for the FRONT OF THE CARD--Imagine That...Progressive Challenge for May
      http://imaginethatdigistamp.blogspot.ca/
Can you believe it?! It is only the middle of the month and I am actually ready to upload my creation for the Imagine That Progressive Challenge.  Of course since I was using the image to make my momma her Mother's Day card, I guess it is only fitting I have it done already.
I am so lucky that I am part of this wonderful progressive challenge.  Kris is an amazing designer and I just love getting a chance to earn her fabulous new sets each month by linking up.

This month the set that everyone who is part of the progressive challenge gets to play with, is the sweet "Girl with MOM Banner"
      .
      http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p219/Girl_with_Mom_Banner.html
So cute, right?!  As always, you get the option of working with whichever version of the image you'd like to.  There are some great sentiments in the set to work with as well.

Here are my card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

      General Comments:

      • I wanted to design my card so that I could incorporate the bookmark I created for my momma (click HERE to check that post out) right into the card layout.  I think it turned out rather well.

      FRONT

      Digital Image Details:
      • Girl with MOM Banner:  If you don't have it, this set is available in the store for purchase at a discount for the remainder of May. Click on the image name or the watermark above to head to its location in the store.
      • This time I used a combination of digital colouring, digital paper piecing, and hand colouring with Copic markers.
      • Digital Credits include:
        • Cloud pattern:  Webtreats, etc.
        • Grass: one of the default brushes in Photoshop Elements 12
        • Hat, dress, socks and shoes were paper pieced with digital papers from the Thursday Break kit created by Correen Silke available at {Computer}Scrapbook.com.
      • All other elements of the image were coloured with Copics.
      Embellishments:
      • Pink lace ribbon and flowers were purchased at Dollarama.
Now for the INSIDE OF THE CARD with MelJen's Designs...

I really am such an uber fan of Melissa Jenkins.  Her images are just so stinkin' adorable.  They are also very distinctive.  Any time I see a card with one of her images, I know right away that Melissa designed it.  Unfortunately, I don't get to create very often using her images but whenever I can I will try to slip one into my card.  Currently the MelJen's blog has a Mom challenge going on so it was the perfect time to add one of her images to my card. The image I chose worked well with the overall card.

      INSIDE

      Digital Image Details:

      • This image is called Dandylion Mouse, and is available for purchase over at Meljen's Designs.  Click HERE or on the watermark below to go to its location in the store. I picked it up during a weekend freebie event, a little while back.

      http://meljensdesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=63&products_id=37
      • The image was coloured in with Copic markers and then I used some blue chalk to give the illusion of swirling air.  Here is a close up of the little cutie pie.

      Digital Sentiment Details:
      • One available in Girl with MOM Banner set from Imagine That.  Details for this set listed in the above section.
      OVERALL
      Paper Products:

      • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, Soda Pop collection.
      • The striped paper on the front and inside is a digital paper from the same kit I used to do my paper piecing (details above).

      Digital Embellishments:
      • The matting in behind the image on the front and the frame on the inside were adapted using a layer style from The Scrappin' Cop.
      Challenges:
Others I might get it into...
Thanks for popping by everyone! I am EXTREMELY late getting supper prepared but I only had a few hours left to get my card into the Meljen's challenge, so the hubs has to suffer once again.  Maybe one of these days he won't have to suffer so much for my art.

      Until next time,
