Card Design: Flowers Bring Smiles from Nicecrane Designs

http://nicecranedesigns.com/
Happy Friday the 13th all!  Usually, I'm crawling in my hole on Friday the 13ths and hoping for the best.  Unfortunately, I've just had too many of them blow up in my face one way or another. However, today I'm going to try and brave it, keeping my fingers crossed that today will be a good dayMe, superstitious?  Yep, I blame my grandmother.  I am especially keeping my fingers crossed considering that there are men walking all over our roof as I sit here and type and they will continue to be doing so for the next few days.  Yep it is going to be a noisy weekend as unfortunately it has come time to replace our roof.  And by the way that is an 'ew' sound pronounced rOOf (rüf) which rhymes with goof or booth NOT pronounced ruff (rf) similar to foot or book like some of my Southern neighbours pronounce it.  Hee, hee, sorry but I just couldn't help myself since us Canadians often get slammed by the Americans for pronouncing things 'funny' and 'roof' happens to be one of those words.  Anyway, time to get back on track here...

Since, looking at beautiful flowers always seems to bring a smile to my face and helps to take my mind elsewhere, I think today is the perfect day to show you one of two thank you cards that I have created using images from the Flowers Bring Smiles II collage sheet from Nicecrane Designs.  This will be the second image from this set that I have used.  The first was on a notebook I showcased at the end of May (if you'd like to go and check out that notebook, click HERE.)

Recently, the hubs and I received a nice monetary gift along with a few small tokens to commemorate our 25th wedding anniversary, from the hubs' siblings.  Since there are several siblings (14 children living, from a family of 21 and amazingly their mom is still living, she'll be 100 in Oct. but alas, I'm getting off track again...), I have quite a few thank you cards to make.  The images on this collage sheet are just so pretty that I made my first two thank you cards with them.

Check out the first one.  It is made for the sister-in-law (and her husband of course) that organized everything and purchased the gifts we received.  She also had a small get-together with a handful of their siblings around to present us with our gifts.  As such, I thought it should be a little bit more elaborate than the others.  I wish I could spend a lot of time on each, but with over 8 thank you cards to make, I just don't have the time if I want the family to receive them before fall...

Notebook Design: Flowers Bring Smiles from Nicecrane Designs

http://nicecranedesigns.com/

Happy Thursday all!  My throat is feeling much better although my chest is still affected and I still don't have any voice.  But all in all, I am making progress and that is a good sign.  The tree outside my window has started to flower as well, so it looks like spring has finally started to bloom.

I don't know about you, but looking at beautiful flowers always seems to bring a smile to my face.  It is no different with the gorgeous floral images from Nicecrane Designs.  I recently worked with an image from the Flowers Bring Smiles II collage sheet to create a little notebook cover for a birthday gift for a friend of mine.

Check it out...

Digital Image Details:
  • Flowers Bring Smiles II:  For this project I used the image you see on the top left hand side of the preview below.  All of these floral images are gorgeous and I have immediate plans for at least two more of the images from this collection.  Flowers are great because they are so versatile.  Whether creating birthday, Mother's Day, thinking of you, get well, or even sympathy cards, flowers fit the bill.  Click on the name or the watermark below to take you to their location in the store.

Embellishments:
  • The sheer white and gold edged ribbon is Crafts brand and was purchased at Dollarama.
  • I created a monogram in Photoshop Elements using a letter from a floral alphabet and recoloured it to match colours from the floral image.
  • I found a flower within the image that would work and printed it four times.  I then fussy cut out the different layers and built it up and attached it to the lower left hand side of the monogram.  Here is a side view to show the depth a little bit better...
