Wonderful Wednesdays: Fabulous Florals and Winsome Words for May Kit

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

It is time for the final two offerings of the May kit.  First up we have a Fabulous Flower.
It is in png format and 300 dpi.  The original size is rather large.  I believe it measures somewhere around four by four inches but you can definitely resize it smaller on your own without distorting the quality.

I've also thrown some Winsome Words into this month's kit with the simple expression,"Life in Full Bloom".

I've offered it in colour and black/grey. Both are in png format and 300 dpi.

Hope you like my final offerings for this month's kit and can find some use for them.  If you missed the first items you can go HERE.  To find items from previous kits look for Wonderful Wednesdays or look under the individual names of the month, i.e. January Kit in the label section.  If you create a project using one of these images or any of the images I create, I'd love to see them and post them into the 'Your Gallery' portion of the blog.

Next month brings with it a whole new theme of which I haven't decided on yet.  However, given there are just a few days left in May I better figure it out soon.

Until next time,

Wonderful Wednesdays: Lovely Lettering and Paper Play for the May Kit

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

~WARNING: Picture Heavy~

I'd say it is time for a Wonderful Wednesday, wouldn't you?  Since in May many of us on this side of the world start to see new growth and the first sign of flowers beginning to bloom, I thought it wise to make the focus for this month's kit all about spring blooms.  Of course I'm playing serious catch up here so let's start off with Lovely Lettering for May...
Now I had truly intended on making a few different options with different fonts but when I found this particular font I thought to myself, "Self, wouldn't this be amazing if I coloured it all up?"  Well, self is crazy because it took me over three hours to do it.  Hence the reason you are only getting one.  The original image was 1500 px wide but I thought that was way too big so I'm offering it here at 600 px wide.  You can always make it smaller without distorting it.  I REALLY hope someone out there likes it.

Next, it is time for some paper play...

I coloured up this floral template in Photoshop Essentials 5 then imported it into Inkscape and played around with a few different filters making each print a unique creation.  Then went back into PE5 and played around with a few different filters there to create a couple more interesting versions giving the papers some texture.  To see them better, click on them to bring them up in the lightbox.  I'll start off with the original, then show you the rest.

Each paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels and in jpg format.

I'd love to see what you come up with if you use anything I create on any of your projects.  Next week I'll present the remaining two items for this month's kit.

Until next time,

Motivational Monday: In the Book of Family a New Chapter Has Begun

If you are new to my blog and would like to know why I started Motivational Mondays, please go HERE.
________________________________________________________

The first page of a new chapter has begun. On a sunny Saturday afternoon in May, I finally met my first cousin Karen in person. Now by rights, we should have travelled down parallel paths, throughout our lives. She should have been standing close to me in my wedding party as I got married, I should have been standing near her when she gave birth to each of her children. There have been so many memories that we each have been robbed of.  It is unfortunate, but such is life sometimes. As the only two girls within our portion of the Anderson clan, I know with all my heart that had we had the opportunity to grow up together we would have been more like sisters than cousins.

The important thing is that we are able to be there for each other during the later half of our lifes.  What has passed, has passed and there is nothing that can change that.  How we move forward though, is the beginning of a brand new story.  A story that began this weekend.

While Karen wasn't up for long, we took the time that we did have to learn a little more about each other.  Sunday afternoon was spent tracing much of my pictorial history as we went through photo album after photo album.  She was able to see where I grew up, the friends that I hung out with and a few pictures that included her own father and brother.  There were aunts, uncles and other relatives to learn about and memories of family now passed to take in.  Karen bears a very strong resemblence to our paternal grandmother and both of us, her brother and our fathers all share the same shape and colour of eyes.  She was finally able to see where she visually fit within her biological family and know that she truly belongs with us.

So a new chapter has started.  What will the future bring?  Well, none of us anywhere can truly answer that question can we.  We can only hope that we will continue to develop our bond and strengthen our friendship and know that without a doubt that nothing will ever change the fact that we are and have always been family.

One of your motivational quote for this week can be found at the top of the page and the other just above.  I have also broken the first one down into two parts for those of you who want to divide it between the front and inside of a card.   I've offered up the second in greyscale in case you don't like my colour choice in the first.  While the fonts in each part look two different sizes, they aren't.  Once you bring them up in the lightbox, and download them they should be the same size.  They are also much larger than appear but can easily be reduced in size without distorting the image.

Also, before you go, just a reminder that the Path of Positivity Challenge #2 is currently underway and I'd love for you to add your postitive projects and/or posts to the pathway.  The Path has a brand new home so please check it out if you haven't already.  You can find it HERE.  It is a brand new concept and all constructive feedback is appreciated.

As always image details, download instructions and a summary of my terms of use can be found below.

Path of Positivity: New Challenge Begins and Voting for the Last One Now Opened

Hey everyone.  Hope you are all well out there in your different parts of the world.  Just before I get into the actual post, I just wanted to give a shout out to my maternal grandmother, Myrtle who would have celebrated her birthday on this day were she still with us.  It has been quite a few years since we lost her but she will always be with us in spirit.  I dedicate this post in her memory.

Almost one month ago, I tried out a new idea on my blog.   I created the Path of Positivity challenge.  Well that idea has now developed into its own blog.  I have just spent the last seven hours developing a separate challenge blog to promote our Path of Positivity.  I told you I planned on big things for it.  Well this is the start.  If you are new to my blog and unfamiliar with this concept, you can find the challenge blog and everything you need to know in order to participate over at:

Now for those of you who joined in the first month's challenge, I hope that you have had the opportunity to visit the other participants.  If not, there is still time to do so.  There were only 12 entries this month but it is a start.

VOTING FOR CHALLENGE #1 HAS STARTED!

It is now time to start voting.  Even if you didn't participate, you are more than welcome to come over and check out those who entered.  In fact I encourage it.  The person who receives the most votes will receive 10 digital images from Creative Bug Digital Designs. Three digital images from Ike's World will be given out as well (the way in which this prize will be won is yet to be determined).  Additionally, one digital image from myself will be awarded to a person chosen in a random draw.  To check out all the entries and vote for your favourite go HERE and scroll down to the bottom of the post where you will find the Inlinkz submissions for Challenge #1.

A NEW CHALLENGE BEGINS TODAY!

Today also marks the start of the next challenge.  You can enter over on the new blog by clicking HERE to go the post with latest Inlinkz.

In order to get you motivated to create something new, I have a new quote for you...

I hope to see you many more of you participating in the next challenge!  You can help spread the word by grabbing the Path of Positivity badge that I have up on the top of my right sidebar and linking it to the new challenge blog:  http://pathofpositivitychallenge.blogspot.com

Card Design: Digi Darla's Challenges #60--Let's Celebrate and Some Special Freebies

Welcome to my second post this wonderful Monday morning!  Hope you have all had a marvelous weekend.  Time for this week's challenge over at the dynamic Digi Darla's Challenges Blog. This week for Challenge #60 the theme is "Let's Celebrate".  It is time to show us your projects that cover any type of celebration, i.e. birthday, graduation, or the event that I am focussing on today, anniversary.

Now it just so happens that today's celebration challenge actually falls on our 24th wedding anniversary so it is fitting that I showcase the card I created for my husbandOn April 29th, 1989, at 2:30 pm I married my soul mate.  We have most definitely had our ups and downs.  Unfortunately, a lot of downs BUT we have stuck through it thick and thin only to emerge stronger out the other side.  I'd be nothing without this man by my side.

If you are reading this hubby, I'd recommend that if you would like your card to be a surprise, you might want to avoid reading any further and just come back to this post sometime tomorrow.

Don't forget one person will be the lucky winner of FIVE Digi Darla (DD) images!  AND any entries using a DD image get entered into a SECOND drawing for THREE images. So, you could technically win eight images! Imagine the fun you could have with all those digis!  If you do use one of Kim's fabulous images make sure you write DD after your name.

I've used the following digis:
Here is the front of my card...

Here is the inside...

Here are the card details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  • Our wedding colours were peach and ivory so I though it fitting to use all the peachy coloured paper.
  • I have used this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.
  Digital Image:
  • Valentine Bears (front):  The image on the front of the card is Digi Darla's Valentine BearsIt was coloured using Copic markers.  Bears:   E31, E33, E37, E39 (fur); R22 (ears); BG10, BG15, BG18 (bow).  Flowers:  Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17 (petals and stamen); YG61, YG63, YG67 (leaves).  Balloons:  YR000, YR00, YR02 YR04, YR07.  Clouds:  Colourless blender, N0, C1, C3.  The image was then fussy cut and adhered to the front.
  • Now aren't those two of the cutest little bears you've ever seen?!  That's me there on the left and hubby on the right.  Now we're both quite a bit lighter in skin tone but the roundness definitely fits me.  The boy bear should have been slimmer though, but all in all, a pretty good representation of the two of us.  Kim has certainly captured the love in our expressions!
  • The balloons were fussy cut and then I added charcoal cross stitch thread to act as balloon strings.  I duplicated the right balloon, coloured it up and used a 1/8th inch 3D adhesive dot to give it added dimension.
  • Clouds (front):  I came up with an ingenious idea for the two additional clouds I used.  I wanted them to have the same basic shape as the cloud "we're" sitting on.  So, you know how you can make conversation bubbles in a lot of graphics programs?  Well, in Microsoft Publisher I used this feature.  I made them the length and flatness I wanted and then created a white square to cover up the little circles that emanated from them so they'd look like clouds.  Then I fussy cut the shapes, coloured them up with the same colours I used on the main cloud and adhered them with three dimensional adhesive tabs to pop them up a bit.
Digital Sentiments:
  • 'I Love Yousentiment (inside)The first part of the sentiment on the inside of the card is a combination of two different Digi Darla images.  The first and third 'I Love You' solid word art can be found HERE, and the middle open word art can be found in the store HERE.
  • The rest of the sentence, "Three words I will never get tired of saying!" is one I created and is available as a freebie below in honour of this special occasion.  I've also included the sentiment from inside the card I created for the San's design blog hop and a couple other treats too.
Paper Products:
  • Card base: Michael's Recollection's Cardstock, white.
  • Designer Papers:  The cloud paper comes from the Recollection's All Seasons paper pad.  The rest of the DP paper comes from Recollection's Bright and Basic paper pad.
Challenges I hope to enter include:
Some more challenges may be added to this list later this week and/or month.

So, why not come and show us what you've got by entering in our current challenge this week over at Digi Darla's Challenges?  While you are there please check out the wonderful creations from the rest of the design teamWe always look forward to seeing the delightful creations you come up with.

Now for the reason the other 300 of you are here...

Six freebie love related sentiments in honour of this special day:

Please see below for font information, download instructions and usage summary.  Remember that I would love to see anything you create using one of my images.

Well that is it for this post.  Have a wonderful day everyone!

Thank you so much for stopping by.  As I've now added to my comment section, whether you are a regular, here for the first time or popping over in your official capacity as a DT member, please know how much I appreciate the words that you leave behind.  Your encouragement helps me to become a better designer.   I try my best to reply to your comments (when an email address is available) but that is getting more and more difficult as my plate fills up with new responsibilities, new roles, and new obligations.  If I don't get the opportunity to thank you personally, know that I don't take a single comment for granted. Thank you for your understanding.

Note: I apologize if there are any further formatting issues.  This is a scheduled post and we all know Blogger has a mind of it's own.  If it turns out that something looks wonky, i.e.--part of the sentence is a different size, font, or colour than the rest, I'll fix it as soon as I'm able to.

The Path of Positivity Challenge Begins Today

If you are new to my blog and would like to know why I started Motivational Mondays, please go HERE.
________________________________________________________

A couple of weeks ago when I was rushing around to put the finishing touches on my "100th Follower Celebration" post (click HERE to go to that post if you haven't been yet, there are lots of goodies up for grabs), one of my very best friends Naomi from Creative Bug on the Loose, offered to help me out.  I had done a little research and had come to a decision as to which type of 'linky' site I wanted to use, with a little help from Vicky from Crafting Vicky.  So, Naomi offered to go in and get me all signed up with InLinkz.  Now with InLinkz you have an unlimited number of text linkups and just one thumbnail linkup.  Now apparently, Naomi hates it when you can only do a name linkup, so she took it upon herself to gift me with a six month subscription to InLinkz so that I can have as many thumbnail linkups as I want.  Naomi is such an incredibly generous woman, and I am so blessed that she is in my life.  So, I plan on creating as many thumbnail linkups as I can come up to make her purchase worthwhile.

Spending a couple weeks thinking up different things, I have first decided to come up with a new concept to attach to the Motivational Monday feature of this blog.  I was thinking that you guys could come over and link up something that you have done during the week that you consider motivational in nature to share with the rest of us.  It could be an inspirational card, an encouragement card or you could be talking about happiness, kindness, dreams, etc.  Even a 'thinking of you' card would be okay because the goal behind that is to bring some happiness to someone on your mind.  If you create a card based on an Inspirational Picture that I put up one Monday, please link that up too.  Anything of a positive inspirational nature that you'd like to share is acceptable.   04/21/13--UPDATE:  It doesn't have to be a card, it can be any type of project whatsoever. Don't forget it can also just be the post that is inspirational.

It could be something from a week ago or a month ago.  I'm not worried about back linking right now BUT only submit it once.  For example, you have a post that you created three weeks ago that you would like to share this month.  Link it up, but next month you will not be allowed to submit the same link again.

The whole idea is for us to create a Path of Positivity for people to follow to bring sunshine to our corner of the blogging world.  As long as it is positive and inspirational it qualifies.  Just link up and be ready to receive guests.  People participating should come back throughout the week and visit others on the list, leaving comments along the wayPlease note though that if I go to your blog and find just a regular birthday card post or something along those lines, unless there is an inspirational story attached, the link will be removed.  There must be an inspirational or motivational vibe to the creation or post.

04/14/13--UPDATE BASED ON QUESTIONS RECEIVED THROUGHOUT THE WEEK:
  • It can EITHER be a post that has an inspirational vibe or just a project that is inspirational in some way.  You don't have to have an inspirational card AND an inspirational post.  One or the other is fine.
  • I was asked if participants can link up other people's blog posts that they find inspirational.  I'd prefer that people link up there own blogs but am willing to talk about individual situations.  Just send me an email to discuss it.
Each Path of Positivity challenge will remain open for a full month.  In the remaining Motivational Monday posts for the rest of the month, I will provide the link up to the challenge and a summary to help remind people.  I will also try and create a badge to put in my sidebar, letting people know of the challenge.  Hopefully, these things will help to spread the word and encourage people to linkup.  <<<THIS BADGE HAS NOW BEEN CREATED AND YOU CAN FIND IT AT THE TOP OF MY RIGHT SIDEBAR>>>  The challenge will be open from the first Monday of one month to the Sunday before the first Monday of the next month. I know we are starting late this month so it will actually only run from Monday, April 8th to Sunday May 5th at 11:59 pm.  The following month it will run from Monday, May 6th to Sunday June 3rd.  Got it?  When you link up, leave a comment summarizing what it is about your post that you feel is inspirational/positive/motivational.  That way it will help us have a focus when we come over to take a look.

{{Please note that this next paragraph has been edited from the original due to learning how voting works}}

Now, this linkup has been created to allow voting.  The way voting on a collection works is that you only have one opportunity to vote and voting begins when the collection has been closed.  Then at the end date, voting will be disabled as well.  Therefore I have set it up so that the collection will close on May 5th at 11:59 p.m. and voting will begin on May 6th at 12:00 a.m. You will then have until May 12th at 11:59 p.m. to vote on the creation or post that you have found to be the most inspirational of the bunch. If you are voting, make sure to leave a comment telling us what it was that inspired you about your choice. You are more than welcome to encourage your friends to come over and vote and even participate if they'd like.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a large number of blog posts to visit to help inspire us throughout the month?

What is the incentive for participating you ask?  Well my hope would be that you'd participate just for the sake of bringing a smile to someone's face and sharing your own positive vibe with others but for those who need a little extra motivation Naomi is very generously offering up a prize of 10 digital images for the person who receives the most votes during the month.  There will also be a random draw for a creation that I make.   If any of you designers out there would like to support this challenge idea and add an image or two, we can increase the prizes given out. Please contact me if this is something you'd like to be part of and sponsor.

04/14/13--UPDATE--Ike from Ike's World has generously donated three images as well.  We are now up to THREE PRIZES!

This is a brand new idea so we'll see how it goes.  This will most definitely be a work in progress.  Right now the entries will be unlimited BUT this may change down the road depending on the number of people who decide to participate.

My contribution to start our path this week is the idea to make sure that you think positively each day.  Every time you are in a positive space it can lead to more opportunities for being positive.  Positivity has a spiralling effect.  Of course, we all know there will be those days where it is difficult to find anything to be positive about.  The days that challenge us are the days where we have to try a little bit harder.  I know.  I've been there.  If we stumble along the path of positivity we need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, keep looking and moving forward.  As should be everything in life--one step at a time!

Here is a quote to help you along the way...

I've provided today's quote for you a couple different ways.  First, I've provided it as one single image which you can find directly above.  I've also split it up so the first line could be put on the front of a card and the rest of the quote inside.  Note that since it is author unknown, I've taken some liberties with the punctuation in the split version.  It just seems to make more sense this way, when dividing the quote into two pieces...

Both parts are the same font size.  Also, these quotes are much larger than they appear here.  Take whichever version you are interested in, you can always take both if you want.  Don't forget I'd love to see what you come up with if you use any of my creations.

So how about you?  What positive project or thought can you share with us this month?  Let's keep the path of positivity going!  You can find the linkup at the very bottom of this post.

Summary
  • Each Path of Positivity challenge will remain open for a full month.  The challenge will be open from the first Monday of one month to the Sunday before the first Monday of the next month.
  • Link up your inspirational post below using Inlinkz.  You will be able to submit your link up to May 5th at 11:59 p.m.
  • When you link up, leave a comment summarizing what it is about your post that you feel is inspirational/positive/motivational.
  • Voting will begin on May 6th at 12:00 a.m. You will then have until May 12th at 11:59 p.m. to vote on the creation or post that you have found to be the most inspirational of the bunch Then leave a comment telling us what it was that inspired you.
  • There will be a prize of ten digital images for the person who receives the most votes during the month, another prize of three digital images (the way in which this prize will be won is yet to be determined) and a prize for a random draw.
