World Card Making Day Celebration 2015!

Well the day may be almost over (I have about two minutes to spare before midnight) but the World Card Making Day Celebration will continue.  It has been a long week and and a rather long day but I couldn't let it go by without some sort of acknowledgement.

How wonderful to have a day that honours the creativity behind making handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between us and the people we send them to.  I really love this idea!!!!  So without further ado, let's kick of my particular World Card Making Day event, Décosse's Dynamite Doodles style and you know what that means...PRESENTS!

According to the official website for World Card Making Day, this occasion was first observed on October 7, 2006.  It was founded by Paper Crafts magazine and started out being celebrated simply as National Card Making Day in the United States.  The initial celebration involved the Paper Crafts magazine audience only; however, there was such an incredible response from patrons worldwide that from that point on, the holiday became known as World Card Making Day . While it began as a way to bring card makers together to get a head start on the Christmas card making rush, it has developed into a day for anyone involved in the card making community to "unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is the heart of card making." ("Holiday History," n.d., para 2)   Sounds like a worthwhile day to celebrate in my books!  So, let's bring on the presents, shall we?!

First off I have FIVE sentiments that I am offering as straight up freebies for everyone:

Of important note:  Please do not share my images with family, friends, etc. Additionally, do not post any images to file sharing services like Box®, 4-Shared®, etc. Instead, please direct people to my blog(s) so they can grab the image for themselves. If you would like to post a watermarked version of the image, please contact me to obtain one.

How is that for a start?!  Now just like last year, I do have a little something extra planned, but this time you need to do some work yourself.  Since this celebration is all about our cards, I thought it would be nice to see one of your favourite cards that you created and posted about, during this past year from Oct. 2014 - Oct. 2015.  I was going to ask you to share your favourite, but when I thought about it, I could never come up with an absolute favourite myself.  I have a range of cards that are my favourite and I am guessing that you do as well.  So, start scrolling through your old posts and find a card that you really, really like.  Come over here and link it up BUT you also have to leave me a comment on this post telling me WHY it is one of your favourites.  That isn't too difficult now is it?  You'll have the chance to win one of my scrapbooking kits--your choice!

Now hmm...which card should I post as one of my favourites?  While I don't have as many this year, there are still quite a few I am proud of.  I guess the one I will go with is a wedding card that I created.  To refresh you on what it looked like, I have included it below (featuring an image from Nicecrane Designs)...

Okay, now it is your turn, I want to see one of your favourite cards.  You must link up your choice below in order to have a chance at winning the prize.  Remember, you don't need to create anything new, just link up a post from sometime during the past year.  You do however, need to come back and leave me a comment letting me know why you chose this card as being one of your fondest

This link up below will be open until 11:55 p.m. on October 17th and winners will chosen shortly thereafter.  This is one of those rare times where backlinking is allowed.  You can link up a maximum of three of your favourite cards.  However, if you do not provide a comment telling me why you linked your choice(s) you will NOT be eligible to win a prize.  It doesn't have to be too long but it does have to explain your reasoning for choosing.  You do not have to be a follower but it would be nice for you to become one, if you decided you like it over here.

So what are you waiting for?!  Get choosing and I hope to see you back here soon.

      Until next time,

Digital Design: Christmas in July with DDDoodles & Imagine That! DbK

Hello everyone!  For all of my American friends and readers, Happy Independence Day!  Be sure to come back a little bit later as I'm going to be posting a freebie in honour of this special day.

Right now, it is time for some Christmas in July fun to begin!  As promised at the end of May, I'm back with a special collaborative give-a-way between Imagine That! Digis by Kris and myself.

I have created a set of 50 digital brads, taking five different images from Kris' Gingerbread Scene set, along with some papers from the Gingerbread Digital Papers set, and a couple papers from the Christmas Snowflakes Digital Papers and putting each of them into five different shapes and then ten different metal casings (courtesy of Marisa Lerin, Pixel Scrapper), to create a set of digital brads.

Here are the previews and links to the fabulous IT! DbK sets I worked with.  Just click on any of the watermarks below to find the sets in the store...

      http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p12/Gingerbread_Scene.html

      http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p74/Gingerbread_Digi_Papers.html

      http://www.imaginethatdigistamp.com/store/p90/Christmas_Snowflakes.html

Kris has given me permission to offer up these brads to three people!  Check them out...

Three lucky winners will have the chance to win a set of these brads and use them on their own holiday cards and layouts! Of course, you're going to have to do a little work to have your chance to earn them, but don't worry, it won't be anything too strenuous.

There are three different tasks.  Complete a task and earn a chance to win the set of brads.  The more tasks you complete the more your chances increase.

      TASK #1

      • Leave a comment on this post or the same one announcing the draw on the Imagine That! blog, letting me know the name of your favourite set from the Christmas & Winter section of Imagine That! Digis by Kris.

      TASK #2

      • Head to the Christmas & Winter section of Imagine That! Digis by Kris.
      • Send an e-mail to decossesdynamitedoodles [at] yahoo [dot] ca with the following subject heading, "Christmas in July Brad Giveaway", with the following info:  List the names of all the sets that have at least one MOUSE in them.

      TASK #3

      • Create a card with ANY Christmas or Winter themed, Imagine That! Digis by Kris image.
      • Add it to the link up below between now and July 31st.  No backlinking please.  Also, please add a link to this challenge on your post.
      • If you don't own any digis, you can find a penguin image in the free section of Kris' store right now.
      • Also note that if you join in the Imagine That! Digis by Kris digi stamp of the month progressive challenge, you won't have any extra work to do as the card you create for July's digi stamp of the month, can be linked up here as well since the set this month is Christmas related.
      • Then of course be sure to also add your Christmas card to The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up for your chance to earn a free digi paper if you link up two cards during the month of July, and also have a chance at our sponsor's prize if you follow the theme of adding an ornament somewhere on your card.  Click HERE for all the details you need!

If anything is unclear, be sure to ask!

For each task you complete, your name will be entered into the draw. Complete all three tasks, earn three chances to win! All tasks must be completed by July 31st, 2015, at 11:59 p.m

If you'd prefer, you can simply purchase two sets from anywhere in the Imagine That! Digis by Kris store and you'll receive the brad set for free.  Offer expires on Aug. 1, 2015. Proof of purchase must be sent to the email address listed above in Task #2 with the subject heading "Christmas in July IT Purchase".  Please be sure to cover up or delete any personal info that you do not want me to see--i.e. address, phone number, account info, credit card info, etc.

So, are you up for some Christmas in July fun?!

Join in now for your chance to win!!!

      Until next time,

      Card Design: 12MoC Ch. #7...Opt. Theme--Ornament Exchange

      http://12monthsofchristmaslinkup.blogspot.ca/
Hello!  It is time for the July challenge and link up to begin over at The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up.  We had another great showing in May and Monica and I hope that you'll continue to spread the word about our Link Up so it can reach more people.  I find it interesting that we have fewer entries each month this year with sponsor's prizes than I did when I ran the link up over here.  Hmmmmm...... I will have to ponder that one!

Don't forget that this link up is basically two-fold.  First of all, you are still going to have the opportunity to link up any number of Christmas and December holiday themed cards throughout the month with an anything goes theme. At the end of each month, every person who has linked up a MINIMUM of two (2) Christmas or holiday themed cards will be eligible to receive a specially designed Christmas themed digital paper created by moi. That means that if you submit two cards each month, by the time that the year is done, you will have received 12 free digital papers, all for the low cost of linking up cards you need to create anyway. You do not need to use the digital paper you receive each month in your cards in order to get the next paper. They are strictly meant as incentive to participate.

While team members had the option of working with any of my Décosse's Dynamite Doodles papers, I did create a special set called  It's Ornamental, based on the theme for this challenge. Check out the preview...

Everyone who links up a minimum of two cards during the month of July will earn ONE of the digital papers from this set.  The specific paper up for grabs will be shown during the winner announcement post.  If you would like to have a say in determining which paper will be offered, you can answer the poll we've set up in the sidebar on the top right hand side of The 12 Months of Christmas Link Up blog.

The second part of the challenge provides even more incentive to play. Each month there will be an OPTIONAL theme to follow. This month the optional theme is Holiday Traditions Ornament Exchange.  In order to have a chance to win the prize from our wonderful guest sponsor this month, make sure that there is a Christmas ornament featured prominently somewhere on your card. Whether it is part of your image, part of your paper or just an embellishment, it is up to you.  You can find more details over on the Challenge #7 post. You can find that post and the link up by clicking HERE.

Also, be sure to check out all the rules and details on the Challenge Details Page. We have provided examples of a few different scenarios to help explain things and make them a bit clearer, in case there is any confusion.
