Fancy Fold Blog Hop with Imagine That Digistamp

ITD's Creative Playground

Hello Folks!!  Today we are doing something a wee bit different over on the Imagine That Digistamp blog. Normally on this day every week we have a special Thursday Inspiration post. This week however, we would like to invite you to join in a special blog hop for some "Fancy Fold" inspiration using items from Imagine That Digistamp!

Welcome to my stop on the Hop! If you've come from Kristy's personal blog then you are right on track. If you are just starting out, you can find the full hop list at the bottom of this post.

We hope you will be inspired to try some of these card folds, treat boxes or other 3D projects you will see along the way. Creating something a little bit different is perfect timing with Christmas right around the corner!

I made an anniversary card for my parents who just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last Friday (Nov. 10th), adopting a simple gate fold. I used an image from the Love Swans digi set. You can click HERE or on the preview below, to find it in the store.

Below you will find my card and some of the details.

Card Design: Scribbles Designs Challenge #34... Fancy Folds or Shaped Card

Hello and a very happy Thursday to all of you.  Today marks the start of our new challenge over at the Scribbles Designs Challenge Blog.

This time around, for Challenge #34, the theme is Fancy Folds or Shaped Card!
From Accordion and Gatefold Cards to Sidestep and Z-Fold Cards, there are so many different types of fancy folds or shaped cards to choose from.  Most of us get into the rut of sticking with traditional square and rectangular cards.  While these standard shaped cards serve their purpose, it is time to challenge ourselves and try something a bit different.  This month we want to see you practicing different card folding techniques or at least presenting us a card with a different shape, such as a circle, bottle, cake, or baby onsie shaped card for example.  It doesn't matter what kind of fancy fold or shaped card you present.  As long as it is NOT square or rectangle, it will qualify for this month's draw.  So, what will it be?  Double Tent, Easel or  PoP UP? Or maybe you'll go with Candle shaped, Scallop edged, or Christmas ornament shaped?  This month thinking outside of the box, may actually be a box!  We can't wait to see what you come up with!

In order to participate in our challenges you DO NOT NEED TO USE A SCRIBBLES DESIGNS IMAGE on your project but you must follow the monthly theme and the other rules that have been established for our particular challenge blog.  You can find them, along with the prize information, listed in the right hand sidebar of the challenge blog.  This challenge will end at 9pm PST on November 14th.

You can purchase your Scribbles Designs images HERE and there is a free image over on the challenge blog as well to help get you started.  Also, be sure to check out the special Freebie Friday posts as it is another great way to build your Scribbles Designs collection.

To help inspire you, I have created a birthday card for a special friend using items from one of Sandy's Flower Sets.

Here are my card and all the details...

General Information:

  • I have used this type of fold once before but I have no idea what it is called.  I just thought that one of Sandy's unique sentiment stemmed flowers would be a really great fit for this style of folded card.
  • I'm afraid the pic is a little wonky, it just didn't want to sit properly when I was taking the shot.

 Digital Image and Sentiment Details:
  • #641 Flower Set 1:  I just love all the variation in this set.  It makes it so versatile!  Click on the watermark below to find this set in the SD store.
  • The image was coloured in with Copic markers.  I used foam dots to help add some dimension to the middle panel.

Punch:
  • I created the grass border using a Fiskar's punch purchased at Michael's.

Embellishments:
  • I used a couple of three dimensional Crafts brand stickers purchased at Dollarama.

  • Card, and image/sentiment bases:  Michael's Recollection's cardstock, white.
  • The plaid paper is from the Recollection's The Sweetest Thing Paper Pad and the cloud paper is from the Recollection's All Seasons Paper Pad.
  • The grass border was created using scraps from my paper pile but it would have originated from one of my Recollection's cardstock sets.
