INVEST IN THE BEST

At Decades, we have always been quality over quantity and hope our clients have learned to buy the best rather than the rest. We strive to sell investment additions to one's wardrobe. Next week, Decades will be turning THIRTEEN YEARS OLD (May 19th, 1997 was our first day which is also the owner's birthday) ..so it could be called, our Decades Bar Mitzvah, but we aren't throwing a party or asking for presents. Rather, we are spoiling our discriminating clients with the best of the best. And it doesn't get ANY better than a Hermes porosus crocodile impossible to find 40 cm black Birkin with gold hardware. Go look for another 40cm out there in the world wide web and they are few and far between. When do you see one online (we found one on eBay), it's from an anonymous seller with a price that was soooooooooo high that we suggest you buy this one and use the money you saved to buy a nice car rather than buy a similar and overpriced bag on eBay. As a matter of fact, most of the croco Birkins we found on line are 35 cm bags but are still sometimes tens of thousands more than this quintessential luxury bag that is 40 cm.

The 411 on this croco Birkin is its unused from 2005. The original owner bought it and never carried it as she felt the 40 was too big for her small frame. The gold hardware still has its plastic covering and it comes with its box and sleeper bag, naturally. This is an impossible to find Birkin in the highest quality of crocodile in the ultra-exclusive 40 cm size. Go ahead and invest in the best! MINI BUT MIGHTY!

I hate to break it to you but smaller doesn't always mean cheaper! Just because this Kelly is only 25 cm and Hermes and crocodile (porosus) doesn't mean it is going to be much cheaper than something that's 32cm and Hermes and crocodile (porosus). The lesson to be learned: Hermes bags in crocodile are expensive no matter what the size! This 25 cm black crocodile Kelly bag is in the most desirable of skins (porosus) and would cost you nearly $23,000 if buying it at Hermes today (PLUS TAX), but this pre-owned and recently spruced-up-by-Hermes in Bev Hills Kelly is from 2003 and will save you nearly $10,000 off of current retail. As I've said, the bag was lovingly pre-owned and although Romain (our hero!) at Hermes worked his magic, porosus crocodile in its shiny form is dulled by your hand's natural oils so the handle of the bag and a few spots on the flap appear to be a bit matte and cannot be glossed. This is a natural occurrence in crocodile and will happen with any croco bag, so either wear gloves or surrender to nature! A few dull scales on a porosus crocodile Kelly bag is worth the savings. With the amount of money you save you could buy one of the orange swift leather Kelly we posted yesterday! We rarely get mini Hermes bags, so if you like your luxury in small doses, this one is ready for the taking!

APPLES AND ORANGES

Hermes bags compared with other bags is sort of like mixing apples and oranges. CHANEL CROCO ATTACKS

Here is an unusual Chanel late 1980s brown crocodile purse with the classic and subtle embossed interwoven "C"s on the front flap. The entire purse is framed by brown leather coordinating piping that repeats in the signature woven chain strap. It's luncheon size, but also acceptable for an evening out, too.
