FROM DAY TO NIGHT

Victor Edelstein designed sophisticated dresses with a hint of glamour for famous women such as Princess Diana and Anna Wintour and went from being a successful designer to a very successful painter. One of his famous clients and a dear friend of Cameron, recently brought in a small fraction of her collection. This dress is part of that. You can tell she is a super chic lady. This dress is the definition of cocktail hour, the just above the knee length, the color jade, a much pleasing alternative to black, and the sheerness on the décolléte. Just add a bold gold belt and you can wear it to meet the president or pair it with a Stella McCartney blazer to wear at the office.

Strapless in Midnight

This midnight blue strapless gown comes from the London based couturier Victor Edelstein. As some of you may remember, he was one of Lady Diana's favorite designers, and she was often photographed in his gowns. The first picture in the post is the most famous photo of an Edelstein gown. It was taken while Lady Diana and John Travolta danced together while attending a gala at the White House in 1984. The gown she wore that night later sold at auction for just under a quarter of a million dollars. The sophisticated style with a hint of glamour that defines an Edelstein gown make his pieces timeless. This specific gown is constructed of a silk lace that has been covered with midnight blue silk ribbon in a very erratic pattern. The gown hits the ankle and has a front slit that comes up to the knee. The top has built in boning to keep the shape and is reminiscent of a bustier. To see another classic Edelstein look that we still have in our collection click here.
