Peep Perfection

My favorite Sunday of the year will be upon us soon (no I am not the biggest fan of the Super Bowl), Easter! How could you not love a day devoted to coloring eggs, playing Hide-and-Seek, pastel dresses with large brim hats and drinking before noon! This fantastic baby pink chiffon Sarmi dress is exactly what a hostess should don on Easter Sunday.

This dress is layers and layers of pink chiffon with a pink silk lining. The dress is tied off with a pink satin bow just under the bust, creating a perfect empire waist. The bust is covered in pink feathers; very Easter appropriate! Now, grab a peep martini (pictured above) and make sure all those sugar laden children running about know that mommy has an invisible barrier 5ft. around her pretty pink dress. *Daniel* Sarmi pink chiffon empire waist dress with satin bow and feather bust, c.60's. Contemporary size 6.SOLD

LADY LIKE SARMI

We've always had a soft spot for Sarmi. When we find a great one, they always sell and certainly we found the mother lode of Sarmi several years ago when we bought most of his abandoned archive and were delighted with the exciting and unexpected designs.

Many of our avid blog readers and clients have become aware of the large collection we continue to edit from a fashionable oil executive's wife who shopped the "decades" with her earliest pieces being from the 1950s; while her most contemporary pieces are from the 1980s. We continue to add pieces every week. Today we are showcasing a Sarmi cocktail dress and jacket from the early 1960s which was purchased at I. Magnin. Made of a gold and cream brocade, the dress is a classic early 60s fitted "Mad Men" silhouette. The jacket is a bit Auntie Mame with it's hourglass shape, dramatic chocolate mink trim, and over sized pearl buttons. It reminds us of something Dolce & Gabanna might show on the runway these days. The jacket would look great with a pair of jeans dressed down, too.

If texture tempts you, this ensemble fits the bill.

CUT IT OUT!

How much do you love this dress? It's Ferdinand Sarmi from 1971 in black silk crepe with satin piping. The cut-out requires your "Powerhouse" (Pilates-addicts will understand) to be in fine form and the one shoulder is a great play against the asymmetric cut out at the midriff. This is a dress for a certain woman who has the right body bare to wear this architecturally streamlined design. Usually our Sarmi pieces are more 1960s looking, so this one is a nice alternative to the traditional vintage Sarmi pieces we have sold at Decades since opening in 1997. The original owner of this dress was a great friend of Mr. Sarmi.
