ARE YOU REALLY PUNK?

A real punker would never wear a gown to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala aka "The Party of the Year."  It may be the fashion extravaganza of the season, but with an exhibition theme of "PUNK" the last thing anyone authentically punk would wear is a red carpet ball gown.  The true punker should turn to one of the great American punk Couturiers, Stephen Sprouse.  Throw on a yellow micro mini tunic and camo green thigh high boots and some creative under garment or go commando and be your very own punk High Priestess.  If you want to be authentic, this may be one of the ultimate options to wear on Monday, the 6th of May.  It's a real "who gives a F-moment" when you are in something like this and that's punk!  I think Eri is a punk!  A punk with panties :)

Stephen Sprouse  (SS'85 label) paillettes top in yellow with matching green graffiti boots, 1985. Top will fit size 4 to 6 and boots are size 38.

MARC JACOBS OR STEPHEN SPROUSE?

This fluorescent orange Stephen Sprouse strapless pailette dress is very evocative of Marc Jacobs recent Fall 2009 high-octane fashion show which celebrated 80s New York and had a large dose of Sprouse influence. It's great to reference the past in contemporary designs, but its also fun to wear an original. Here is a dress that makes us nostalgic for Dianne Brill and her curvaceous body and bold peroxide blond hair that earned her the title of "Queen of the Night." Although she may be more synonymous with the vampy designs of Thierry Mugler than Sprouse (we will post a great Mugler spider web gown in the next few days), we think Ms. Brill could fill this dress with her seductive proportions. After all, it was mannequin impresario Adel Rootstein who called Ms. Brill "The Shape of the Decade" when he made a form in her form.

Ms. Brill may be the shape of the decade, but we look forward to discovering who will be the Shape of Decades and fill this glowing dress.

The Equinox is upon us

This coming March 20th is Spring Equinox, we thought this Stephen Sprouse dress would be the perfect outfit to celebrate the occasion. If you are not familiar with the work of Mr. Sprouse, click here, or go to any Louis Vuitton and check out the Sprouse inspired graffiti bag that was just re-launched. The dress is a classic tank dress in silk, covered with a blue pink and black Warhol print. This dress was given to the previous owner by Mr. Sprouse himself.
