DUCK, DUCK GOOSSENS

In December, Decades becomes the go-to for amazing vintage Holiday presents. We love guiding husbands and children through the cornucopia of choices at Decades. We always encourage great designer costume jewelry as a gift and that's why we are posting and posting the bling every day. Thankfully, you agree with our suggestions since we are selling so many great pieces of costume jewelry at present. Thank you!

We are crazy about this Robert Goossens collier. Now, it's not a choker, let's make that clear, but it's not a long sautoir, either. The length of this unusual necklace looks really fresh to us. Made of metal dore (do you like all of our fancy French words today?), a woven rope link attaches to rings that are encrusted with purple and lilac shades of Swarovski crystals. Goossens was discovered by Coco Chanel in the 1950s and we can tell why! A necklace like this designed for his own House is a great example of the panache of designer costume jewelry. As fulfilling as the real thing, sometimes bijoux fantasie delivers better than Cartier or Boucheron.

30 INCHES TIMES TWO

Here are two thirty inch necklaces from two different decades: the 1950s and the 1980s. The first necklace is Coco Chanel Haute Couture designed by Robert Goossens. A mix of imitation coral pearls twisted around gold metal in a very unusual design, it may lack a Chanel stamp as vintage runway jewelry often does, but it has all the hallmarks of the famous Goossens work for Chanel.

The second necklace is the perfect black tie strand of pearls -- literally. When your necklace is a strand of pearls attached to a crystal bow tie, you have black tie covered! Now we do suggest you actually wear something with this Valentino Night necklace, as we don't know if the world is ready for a bare breasted black tie moment!

ECLECTIC BUT NOT ECCENTRIC

If our posts get a bit brief in witty descriptions this week, it's only because we have so much to share, but words get in the way sometimes. Yes, we wish to be clever in our seductive text about each desirable collectible we are posting, but we have a lot to post and we want to make sure all the Holiday present options are on view, so here are three eclectic items that would make perfect gifts.

The classic Chanel magnifying glass necklace is actually quite useful. When shopping at Wal Mart or Target, wear this loop to make sure you can read the ingredients correctly on the diet bars you are purchasing. It's decorative (dig the scroll pattern) and useful!

The Robert Goossens gold cuff has beautiful rose colored glass stones. It fits fantastic on the wrist and it's one of those pieces you will wear every day as it has personality, but isn't overwhelming.

Finally, we love the chic length of the unusual Chanel neclakce that hangs just at the right place around your neck and has a great round pendant, which is removable, so this is a necklace that you can easily layer with other pieces and adjust depending on your mood.

One thing we do guarantee, you will be in a GREAT mood when you wear one of these vintage adornments.
