NINE WEST CAMPAIGN

Hitting stores today is my new Nine West collaboration and I had the best time styling Alexandra Spencer of 4th and Bleeker in great vintage clothing from Decades.  The collection was inspired by 80s punk icons, but we wanted Alexandra to look totally modern.  And we did that by interpreting great vintage from Decades along with some Alexandra's personal clothing and my partner in fashion crime, Kate Ciepulch, and her perfect blazers she designs for her label Laveer.  You can own some of the looks from the campaign if you click on the links below!

NOT JUST FOR NIGHT

When the temps go up the Pucci come out.  And when we mean Pucci, it's not just the luxe silk jersey, but also the licensed pieces for Formfit Rogers made in nylon that are durable against the elements of sand and sea.  Throw this dove grey gown over your maillot and you can go from bain de soleil to Il Sole in the time it takes to button this dress up.  True, these were originally made as lingerie pieces, but it's the 21st century and no one will balk if you are unmentionables are showing.

MIXED OR MATCHING?

The big dilemma: how to wear prints this fall and next Spring? Of course we say matching! All over print has seen a huge revival. Those days of the color and mixed prints are back with a vengeance. The question is, should one mix the prints or match them....as you can see Cameron Silver is a fan of matching because it makes for a spectacular impression (you can see him in custom made Nicole Miller print ticket suit at the Met Gala 2012 and in a matching print suit Spring 2012 by Mary Katrantzou below). So it would be a no-brainer for us at Decades on how to wear the 60's Emilio Pucci skirt and jacket here. But if you  are not convinced yet, try wearing the skirt with a white blouse and the jacket with leather pants or jeans.

MY FAVORITE PUCCI EVER!

I think I am on the longest book tour ever, but I am grateful to be hosted by so many lovely people who all seem to have the most divine closets on the planet.  Take for example, this vintage Emilio Pucci dress.  While being hosted by Atlanta's Nina Cheney she chose this incredible 60s sheath from her relatives closet and I feel in love with her and the dress....so much so that I asked her if we could have it at Decades.  I am rather persuading :) and the dress is here.  A scale pattern of psychedelic colors etched with swirling ribbons, this Pucci is in a textured fabric enhanced with gold lurex and the first time I have seen such an unusual fabrication for Pucci.

It's been said that the only animal that will survive the December 21st Mayan Apocalypse is the cockroach.  I like to think the only designer who will survive said apocalypse is Emilio Pucci and certainly as evidenced is this design: Pucci is Forever!  This is a great dress for Miami Basel.  Who's going to wear it for one of the 2000 parties happening next week?

FOR HELEN

Helen Gurley Brown (1922 to 2012) died this morning.  In addition to being the legendary editor of Cosmopolitan magazine from 1965 through 1977 and author of  groundbreaking bestseller "Sex and The Single Girl" (1962), she had one hell of a Pucci collection that she has bequeathed to a small museum in the Midwest.  I encourage all women to salute HGB and throw on a Pucci in her memory.  She is an example that good taste never goes out of style and famously wore her jersey Pucci dresses through six decades and always looked chic, powerful, sexy, and inspired so many.

SUMMER IN PUCCI

The ultra light silk jersey born in the 50's came into light in the 60's with a dazzling array of prints, ranging from psychedelic prints, to exotic lands, to the space exploration. We have Emilio Pucci to thank for that. Pucci was a virtuoso when it came to color. Not only were the prints different but they varied with each garment, most times the front differed from the back and the graphics were engineered to outline the women's shape. This dress has all the above, the light weight silk jersey, the two different prints front and back, the amazing pinks, beige and brown. It comes with a self belt with beads. Throw it on with flat sandals and a white panama hat and head for Capri, Palm Beach or Portofino.
More than a brand, Pucci is a way of living, and this is some chic way of living!

WHAT I WANT YOU TO WEAR TODAY

As the temperatures rise, the challenge of remaining chic without schvitzing, can not be ignored.  Sure you could wear daisy ukes and an unfortunately named "wife-beater", but I dare say most of you who shop at Decades or follow this blog have more substantial attire desires.  This Emilio Pucci cotton chemise is perfection.  Throw it on and you can just about go anywhere and still have some breathing room.  I am quite impressed with the condition.  Perhaps it was never worn?  I guess this dress has been waiting to be adopted so have a heart and give this lonely Pucci a nice new home!

CITIZEN CANNES

Ever since Cameron left for Cannes to attend his movie premiere, Versailles '73, we have been inspired by the French Riviera and been feeling colors and prints. We will be posting today amazing pieces from vintage Chanel to Pucci and a very iconic Ossie Clark print dress, all Cannes inspired.

Some of the most striking Pucci ensembles were comprised of a shirt, scarf, dress and bag all in the same print. To be garbed in all over Pucci was an idyllic state for many women in the 60's and 70's. Little has changed, since Pucci remains the leader of beautiful prints in the fashion world. To have a Pucci bag to match your Pucci top, that is coordination.

COLOR ME CANNES

If you are headed to Cannes keep in mind that color is key in the French Riviera. We love the vibrant colors that Emilio Pucci is so famous for, especially this beautiful orange mixed with a little motif in brown. The full light cotton skirt could be worn alone with a white Alexander Wang tee and the top could complete your boho chic look with denim shorts. But worn together you will look like you belong in the South of France basking under the Mediterranean sun.

PUCCI PIZZAZZ

Fashion in the 60's was all about "pop culture", it was a reflection of the music like the Beatles and movies like Blow-up and La Dolce Vita. Retailers were using Peter Max and Milton Glaser graphics to appeal to the young , who were the majority of the population in the 60's.
Against this background, creations of Emilio Pucci, provided a very obvious way for many women to feel part of the decade. Women were changing as well, along with the music and movies, a more liberated woman was born. And they all wore Pucci.
Rumor has it that Marilyn Monroe was buried in an almond green Pucci dress, the same one she was wearing when she met Arthur Miller.
If you don't own a Pucci, we strongly recommend you rectify that by owning this iconic jumpsuit from the 60's. It embodies everything that the Pucci woman was all about, fun and loud, passionate and rebellious. This piece would surely add a spark of joy into your life. A very fashionable spark - that is.

Pucci Purse Encore

Following the previous two posts of Pucci bags I couldn't resist yet another. So here we have it.

A 60s small velvet clutch with a black and fuschia Pucci print all over. The gold clasp detail is particularly interesting, as it appears to juxtapose the purpose of the bag but maintains an elegant twist making it perfect for an evening on the town. SOLD
