SILVER MEDAL

It's amazing what you'll find on the interweb. Today I was came across sites devotes to cat calendars, precocious tween fashion blogs, a page concerned with bullets and mullets, and a tumblr I had never seen that posts pics of our co-owner, Cameron Silver, in his various notorious ensembles.

Men's fashion doesn't always get the coverage that it deserves, so I was particularly excited to see this site, which rivals the sartorial quotient of any major style site. If you have a penchant for Rod Keenan hats and sharp suits via the likes of Antonio Azzuolo, Alexander McQueen, and Simon Spurr, or simply need a fashion pick me up, Cameron Silver In . . . will definitely sate your fashion palette. I myself, was inspired by the snapshot of Cameron above, donning a vintage Katherine Hamnett leather jacket. Sigh. I just love studded duds.

BELT IT OUT

Ok, so I'm not one for getting too matchy-matchy. But, as soon as I saw the Hermès handbag below, it made me think of this number. There's something kind of glam about accessories that go together. And this black textured belt meets the Kelly at the best possible fashion intersection. If you ask me, it's a green light all the way.

A STAR IS GONE

Here at Decades, we are deeply saddened at the loss of one of fashion's brightest stars, Vidal Sassoon. Throughout his career, Sassoon was always at the forefront of fashion, creating several seminal sartorial aesthetics. It goes without saying that his influence reached far beyond mere hairstyles.

Of course, true beauty is evidenced both inside and out. Perhaps it's because Sassoon was a true gentleman, the epitomé of grace, style, generosity and kindness, that propelled him to become one of fashions greatest innovators.

Cameron Silver, our co-owner along with Christos Garkinos, says of Sassoon, "I have had the pleasure of knowing Vidal Sassoon since 1997 when Decades opened and he attended our opening fete with his wonderful wife Ronnie.  He has always represented to me the power of hard work over adversity to achieve incredible things. He not only revolutionized hair, but was an example of being a responsible citizen of the world through his philanthropy. Vidal was a man of true elegance and taste and I am do honored to have known him. Vidal and Ronnie were early supporters of Decades and my thoughts and prayers are with Ronnie and the Sassoon family. He made the world a better place and will always be an inspiration."

Rest in peace, Vidal Sassoon. You are truly and dearly missed.

TRAY CHIC

When I lived in New York, my pal Matt brought me over to a certain make-up artist's abode. The entire house was marigold and aqua: the sofa, the rugs, the knick-knacks, the spoons, the cabinet handles, the cloth napkins, the window treatments, the wall sconces. I was pretty amazed. Until a aqua poodle peeked it's sea-colored nose out from behind an aqua chair. Color me astounded.

"Matt, Matt," I tugged my friend's sleeve and whispered, "Um, even the dog matches the decor."

"Oh, that's nothing," he said, completely unfazed. "Six months ago, the entire place was French country and there was a French Bulldog instead. Pierre."

True story.*

While I don't buy pets to go with my interior design choices, I can understand the need to redecorate as often as possible. I love home decor and design. I feed on blogs like Sous Style and The Selby, I'm still bummed that Domino is no longer a monthly rag, and I trowl flea markets on the regular, especially when in Europe, forever in search of just the right wrought iron church alter piece or Japanese vintage pottery.

Every so often, the curatorial team at Decades comes across home pieces that are just too delicious to pass up. Such was the case with this Oscar de la Renta mother-of-pearl inlaid tray with silver inset corner details. You can understand why we took in this tray. It's everything exceptional design should be: elegant and unique with exquisite construction. It stands out in a room, yet helps tie everything together. And let's face it, style isn't simply for the clothes. Style should extend into every facet of your life, including your environs. Except your pets. Pick one. And love him to pieces.

*I found out that the make-up artist rescued the dogs and while he was looking for new homes with caring and kind owners for each of them, he redesigned his apartment to give the pets what he felt would be a soothing environment. Phew. So much better than what I imagined. New Yorkers. We are a crazy breed.

SOMETHING OLDHAM, SOMETHING NEW

If you grew up in the 90s, then you have a soft spot in your heart for certain American designers: Anna Sui, Isaac Mizrahi, Perry Ellis (the Marc Jacobs collection especially), and of course, Todd Oldham. I mean, C'mon, "Todd Time" on MTV's House of Style was the hautest thing on tv, hands down.

I remember Oldham's bright bold sense of color and whimsy. And, with all the color blocking coming down the runways for the past year, I can't help but think back to Oldham's offerings. So, I was super stoked when I saw this pretty printed perfect-for-summer sundress courtesy of Mr. Oldham himself. I figure I can match it with my combat boots, a chunky Dries sweater and harken back to a time when Nirvana ruled the airwaves, I was sneaking into Max Fish and chic accessories of the era included lollipops, glowsticks and furry animal backpacks. True story.

BACKHAND COMPLIMENT

There's something super chic about playing playing tennis. It's very East Coast, super Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons.

If you're going to pick up a racket and get in the game, there's still no reason for not bringing your inimitable sense of style to the courts. Instead of one those lil' pleated mini skirts, let us suggest serving up this tennis tank dress courtesy of Chanel®. This way, they'll be complimenting your beautiful backhand as well as your beautiful ensemble. Score.

GOLDEN DELICIOUS

Hey Big Apple, guess who's coming to town? Sadly, not me. I'll be back in LA, hanging ten, super jealz that I'm missing double the Decades hulabaloo, tearing up the town and painting it red . . . and cobalt, jade, violet, peony, marigold plus several prints that would make Mary Katrantzou proud. That said, Cameron Silver, Christos Garkinos and Decades are returning to New York, ready to take Manhattan by storm.

Of course, we'd love it if all you New Yorkers came and helped kick off our downtown NY trunk show. We'll be raising a glass to toast the event with our co-hosts, Rent the Runway, and dear NYC pals and gals at the VIP Opening Night Reception on Thursday, April 26th from 6p - 9p at Openhouse Gallery, 201 Mulberry Street, between Spring and Kenmare Streets.

Space will surely be limited. To attend, you must RSVP: decades@gckpartners.com

Can't make it? Don't fret. The trunk will open to the public: Friday, April 27th from 10a - 7p and Saturday, April 28th from 10a - 6p.

Want a sneak peek of the chic pieces we're bring to New York? Click here. Talk about packing the heat, no?

HOLY TRINITY

I was scrolling about online and happened across this recent party pic of Cameron Silver, Michelle Harper and Rod Keenan. Pretty chic, no?

I know I'm a girl and all, but I'm not above taking style cues from the guys. Besides, a black velvet blazer with gold embroidery and leather insets seems the perfect jacket for Spring's transition to fall. I know I live on the West coast, but this is desert weather and it cools down at night. But I'm willing to bet this blazer will keep me warm and looking cool. So will stylish pals like Michelle and Rod.

They look like they're the newest, not to mention elegant, mod squad ever. I just love it.

FUR REAL

Most gals can incorporate a 2.55 or classic flap, easy, no problem. But, it takes a special gal with that infamous franco je ne sais quoi to rock this baby. It's loud. It's proud. It's covered in bouclé, fur, tweed, and quilted leather and looks pretty darn chic without seeming like someone at Coco headquarters raided the fabric swatch closet after a few too many prosecco's. Not an easy feat.

Want to get carried away with this handbag? I don't blame you. Click here for more information and/or to purchase.

TOTALLY TICKLED . . .

Maybe it's the fact that several chic caravans of hipsters, magic makers, music makers, and geo-gals recently departed our fair city for the desert for Coachella, Round 1. Or maybe it's just that I've been listening to tunes from Fleetwood Mac to Florence and the Machine to Santigold to Mimi Baez Farina to Bat for Lashes, but it's time to add a lil' rock-n-roll to the ole wardrobe.

There's something super lady-on-a-dark-stage a la Lana del Ray that reminds me of this painted feather collar. I would probably take it easy underneath and wear this exquisitely painted accoutrement courtesy of R. Lee Manuel askew over a lingerie-inspired slip of of dress and maybe Yohji boots and a phat gold four-finger ring. Just so I could show off the painted plaid detailing ON THE FEATHERS. What do you think about that?

Look out, wax. Hear I come (tee hee).

TAKE NOTE . . .

Before iPhones and tablets and ESP, I remember when Filofaxes were all the rage. In fact, I begged my mother for one for Christmas when I was a mere teen. And for some reason, she got it for me. I'm not sure what I had to keep track of at fourteen. Parties? Kicking it in the meadow with my other delinquent, I mean, debutante friends? Hanging out late night uptown on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art or downtown at The World?

But I remember thinking that there was just something so chic about pulling that filofax out of my danish bookbag and checking to see if I could hit up Pat Field's on a Saturday afternoon. And truth be told, I still think there's something elegant about a gal who puts pen to paper. I'm not suggesting that you rid yourself of all technology together. But, imagine pulling this vintage Gucci address book out of your 2.55 and taking down your new pals contact info or jotting down your Sunday Farmer's Market list in its creamy silken pages?

Sounds pretty decadent, no? I say "Oui."

OH MY MARNI!

I dunno about you but I'm a major Marni fan. After all, the brand boasts some pretty pretty prints, pleating and purses. Not to mention that if ever want to literally borrow from the boys, you could do a whole lot worse than getting your hands on a Marni men's cashmere cardi. I'm just saying.

Lucky for us Marni mavens, we posted a bonanza of the Italian brand just yesterday. I'm talking everything from sweet tops and frocks to chic bags and retro-sleek kicks. Personally, I've got my eye on a thick and supple thistle leather tote, but I could also go for one of Marni's signature cropped jackets. Or printed tops. Or grab-and-go clutches. Or . . .

Want to make your Marni move? Click here to check out our amazing Marni collection.

TRAVEL IN STYLE

So, if you were to pack you flirty fun-in-the-sun frocks, sunnies, wellies and Marant military jackets for not one but two weekends in Coachella, who's luggage would you want to use to tote your wardrobe? Ah-Choo! (Forgive me, I had to, but at least I've saved you the obligatory Choose Choo tag or even worse Choo Choo line and considering that this travel luggage, it was hard to forego that one.)

Luckily for all you music mavens, we've just posted an amazing Jimmy Choo black patent leather travel valise. This baby has star power written all over it. After all, I'd never let you look like a roadie. For you, it's headlining style all the way. Even though roadies and rock stars often travel together but, that's neither here nor there.

Click HERE for more information or to just snatch this baby right on up!

There are 4 style, each inspired by a different decade (get it?) from the 50s to the 80s. So, the question is: what decade dame are you? Are you feeling the curved slender heels of the 50s? Perhaps the patch-worked platforms a la the 1906s? Maybe you're chic in cork like a 70s disco diva? Or you're wanting to walk tall in wedges from the 1980s, like a Basquiat-era babe? Any and every way, we've got you covered.

Want to view the entire collection? We thought you just might so click HERE ladies. I've said before and I'll say it again: the perfect pair of pumps is kind of like stumbling across the holy grail. Statement

Ok, we know that a significant staple for Spring is the statement necklace. And the design king who practically created the statement necklace: Yves Saint Laurent. Ok, so while he not have created the statement necklace, he crafted bangles and baubles which are sure to transform any ensmeble.

Think about it. Want to personalize that old jean and Tee shirt routine? A statement necklace says, "Hey, this is no soccer mom uniform. This the look of a lady who just might off yacht from the South of France, and while it may look like this is soccer mom uniform, due to this statement necklace, what you should really be reading is, this is a rocker Mom uniform." You know, the kind of mom who had a cameo in Downtown 81 alongside Basquiat and Debbie Harry.

And if membership status in the coolest crew ever doesn't say something, such as, I've lived in Tribeca before the baby boutiques and yarn shops. But, if you really want to establish that you were OG Save the Robots, pairing one of YSL's bijoux fantasie pieces with a grecian column dress says, "Hey, I own every Gray album. Because Vincent Gallo gave them to me. along with this necklace." And, if he's looking for any adoptive daughters, my name is Lizzy. With a Y. For yves, Yves Saint Laurent who created bijoux fantasie. Where fantasie where fantasy is a reality.

Shop our entire YSL collection HERE!
