TIME'S UP

I know, I know. Your phone tells the time. Why you have a need to rock a clock?

Well, for one thing, it's just not that fashionable, nor polite, to keep digging your phone out of your Moto bag to check the time. And, while I don't meant to slight your Swatch, this offering from Cartier with its stainless steel case, luminescent diamond-shaped hands, sapphire crystal, white dial and Arabic numerals is more than just a mere timepiece.

It's a thing of beauty. And, as we all know, a thing of beauty is a joy forever.

SLAVE FOR YOU

The women who shop at Decades aren't what we call "slaves to fashion." They are fashion dictators who don't follow trends, but set them. Although we primarily sell vintage couture and costume jewelry, we also love the real stuff and have been known to have some great mid-century 18K jewels by Bulgari, Cartier, Hermes, and VCA. When these pieces come our way, they tend to sell quite fast and often don't make in on the blog. This Dinh Van for Cartier 1970's 18K and platinum cuff will actually turn the wearer into a slave to fashion. With a hint of fetishism and Roman Gladiator chic, the base of the cuff is 18K but the movable ring is platinum. Designed in the early 1970s by the Vietnamese gold and silversmith designer Dinh Van who worked at Cartier before opening his eponymous house, this is an extremely unusual design that is completely modern and not what one normally expects from the more stoic Maison Cartier.

GET NAILED

We titled this posting a bit provocatively, so we hope we don't offend, but rather titillate with this iconic 18K Cartier bracelet famously designed by Aldo Cipullo in 1971. You don't need to be an expert on modern jewelry design to know Aldo Cipullo's designs. His famous LOVE Bracelet for Cartier from 1969 is about as recognizable as the LV logo or McD's yellow arches, but achieved with 18K. Cipullo also created this more unusual nail bracelet that is a streamlined and delicious design. It's a necessary addition to any jewelry lover's collection and the type of piece one can wear daily, but it requires a small wrist.

Cartier 'Jackie O' Style Belt

The late Jackie Kennedy Onassis was seen wearing this belt on the Isle of Capri in the early 1970s. Since then it took on a life of its own. When her estate finally came to auction by Sotheby's on April 23rd 1996 this piece listed with an estimate of $500-$700 sold for a staggering $27,600.

Of course this is not the piece from the auction itself, but it is the same exact belt. It is shown below as both a belt and a necklace. The woman who buys this piece will be able to live their own exotic lifestyle dreams and enjoy the thrills of Cartier with the style of an Onassis. Jackie Kennedy Onassis.

CARTIER VERMEIL JACKIE O BELT NECKLACE C 1970s. SOLD
