ST TROPEZ

I am unequivocally and totally addicted to Instagram.  I live vicariously through many people's lives via their photos and mini films.  I post often too.  Lately, everyone seems to be in St. Tropez and in something jersey with a terrific tan.  If this were St. Tropez in the early 1980s and Instagram had existed (imagine what we would see!) I have a feeling it would not have been out of the question to see a PYT in this Angelo Tarlazzi dress of rust jersey and gold lurex doing some move approved by Deney Terrio.  Dance Fever!

SEA FIRE

Angelo Tarlazzi was an Italian designer with a lot of French flair. His designs seem to always remain modern and fresh. One of the big trends for Spring 2012 from the runways was obviously a futuristic water world, starting with Chanel and Lagerfeld's water inspired collection, Givenchy's theme of a love affair between a surfer and a mermaid, to McQueen's sea coral details.
All the elements of a Tarlazzi design and elements of the latest trends you will find in this light mint dress. The knot on the shoulder and the bias cut creating volume through a flared ruffle. The lightness of the fabric with a iridescent mother-of-pearl shimmer gives this dress the lightness that today's trends emphasize. It is a sexy dress for a sexy woman.  In this Tarlazzi dress you will feel like a mermaid and if you reside in California it will be easy to find your very own surfer boy!

TYING THE KNOT

As you already know we love stripes. This beautiful light and airy dress is a creation of Angelo Tarlazzi when he was Artistic Director at Jean Patou in the seventies. Angelo Tarlazzi became famous for his "kerchief" dresses, made of silk scarfs draped and knotted around the body in the form of a simple pareo. A bit of that technique can be seen in this dress, the tie in the back, the bias cut of two panels to create the skirt and the lightness when it moves. It is the perfect dress to take to an island, you can stroll in it during the day and go dancing at night.....tying or untying the knot.

Fringe Benefits

Italian born designer, and former artistic director for Jean Patou, Angelo Tarlazzi introduced his own line of ready-to-wear in 1977 to rave reviews. Often heralded as the most Parisian of Italian designers, Tarlazzi's pieces always manage to read playful, sexy, and perfectly proportioned. It's no surprise many have obsessed over his flapper-esque fringe seduction. So the next time you're dragged into a night of karaoke, feel free to channel Tina Turner and belt out Proud Mary like half the rent's still due!
