challenges...

Image
Good morning everyone. I am spending one of my last free mornings at home today, before I start back up at work tonight. Between doing all of that stuff that needs to be done to keep a family of 7 running smoothly and babysitting for one of my little buddies I found some time to bang out a card for a couple of challenges. I did this one for todays SplitCoastStampers color challenge and I used Mercy's Lord Have Mercy sketch for inspiration. I colored up the sparrow from Our Daily Bread Designs, "He Watches Me" to look like a gold finch, something I have been wanting to do since I received the sets. What do you think? What I used: ODBD He Watches Me SU french script white, bravo burgundy, basic gray card stock SU Nouveau Chic designer paper Versafine black stamp pad, basic gray stamp pad Prismacolor pencils, OMS and blending stumps crushed curry polka dot ribbon

I am so grateful that I had time to bang out a quick card before work this morning. It would have been a really, really quick card if I hadn't ripped it apart 3 times. I think the only thing left from the original card is the ribbon, LOL! Anyway I combined todays SplitCoastStampers color challenge; Bashful Blue Suede Rub y with yesterdays Mojo Monday sketch for this card. I used Our Daily Bread Designs newest set Confirmation for my verse. I used the Victoria Cuttlebug embossing folder on the ruby red layer then sponged with a little soft suede ink to bring out the texture. The card stock and striped strip of designer paper are from Stampin' Up! as is the ink.

mojo tuesday?

If you are looking for the Our Daily Bread Design blog hop please scroll down to the post below this one or click here . I started this card this morning then got called into work and almost 12 hours later am finally able to finish it. I combined several challenges on this card. The color combination is from todays SplitCoastStampers color challenge; Very Black Suede . The second challenge is this weeks Mojo Monday sketch , I actually placed my ribbon where the verse panel should have been. And the third is the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge which was to have a "gift" some where on the card, hoping that the word gift works for them because it works for me! I stamped the poinsettia from the newly released Our Daily Bread Designs set His Gifts on vanilla card stock with soft suede ink, stamped off once first. I then sprayed the entire thing with Suede glimmer mist. After the mist dried (or more correctly, when I got home from work and kid activities) I stamped t...

challenges...

Avoiding everything I am supposed to be doing today and playing instead. I combined a couple of challenges on this card. The color combination; Pretty in Pink, Bermuda Bay, and Old Olive is todays SplitCoastStampers color challenge . The card layout is from the current Bella SCS sketch challeng e and I am also entering it in the Bella Birthday Bash contest. I colored this Ketto image a while ago to match some Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper and have just been waiting for the perfect time to make her into a card. Today was that day because the paper contains all the colors in the challenge. Ketto is colored with my favorite Lyra colored pencils blending with odorless mineral spirits and a blending stump. Hard to see in the picture but I also added some touches of glitter with a Sakura glitter pen and a bit of glaze with their glaze pen. This second card I did for the Lord Have Mercy sketch challenge . I can't say enough how much I love Mercy's sketches, the simplicity o...

sketch and color challenges

Image
I still have one kid home from school sick with the flu and one of my girlfriends sons too. I am watching her son today so she can work and she is watching my daughter tomorrow so I can work. Thank God for friends! Since the kids are being so good I got a little time this morning to stamp. Checked out the Lord Have Mercy sketch first thing (because she has the bestest sketches ever) and the color challenge on SplitCoastStampers . Decided to combine the two together but didn't quite get the sketch right, so I did a second one with one of the images that I colored earlier this week. What I used: Elzybell Art Stamps (reindeer card), Stamping Bella Ketto GP white, SU basic black for both cards, Elzybell kraft (reindeer card), SU riding hood red (Bella card) Memento black stamp pad Cuttlebug embossing folder (reindeer card) Lyra colored pencils, OMS and blending stump white gel pen, glitter pen, glaze pen Spare Parts brads SU red polka dot ribbon (reindeer card) and baja breeze st...

Our Daily Bread Design sneak peek!

Image
I could not sleep for some reason this morning so I got up early and actually had time to finish a card before the kids are even all off to school. Good thing since I have to work today. I was quite literally dreaming about this set and the other 2 new sets that Our Daily Bread Designs will be releasing on Sunday, all night long. And you are going to LOVE them! I have a couple of other cards using the sets done already and I will see if I can fit in another sneak peek for you before Sunday. Make sure you visit the Our Daily Bread Designs blog , it has a new location on Sunday so you can participate in the blog hop and challenge. Kelley has a couple of wonderful prizes for you, so you really, really want to play along. For this card I combined two of todays challenges. The Lord have Mercy sketch challenge , I love her sketches and the SplitCoastStampers color challenge . This card is really very, very simple but I think the colors work really well together and the simple sket...

busy, busy, busy...

Image
I have been so super busy between games, practices and fundraisers for my 4 football players and cheerleaders and planning, prepping for and doing workshops and my last couple of events for Stampin' Up! that I literally haven't had a spare moment for myself in what feels like weeks. So after I got the laundry going and started a pot of soup for a quick dinner tonight, I decided to go have some me time. I decided to combine yesterdays color challenge from SplitCoastStampers, CC236: Whisper Pretty Soft Suede with todays sketch challenge . Love this pretty color combination, I knew it would go perfectly with the adorable Henry Celebrating Mouse from Whiff of Joy. And since I am on a mission to convince Katharina Frei that she really, really, really needs me on the Whiff of Joy design team one more card can't hurt, right? If you want to give it a try too, click on the Whiff of Joy button above. So what do you think? Is he the cutest or what? I colored him with my Lyra ...

another sneak peek...

Today is the second day of our sneak peeks. I decided to do todays color challenge on SplitCoastStampers (Only Orange, Rose Red and Brilliant Blue) and use snoozin' ted to make a fathers day card. I paper pieced the main image and managed to find designer paper that had part of the color combination in it. Not easy colors for me to work with since I am Bold Bright challenged but I am mostly satisfied with the result. Make sure you stop back tomorrow to see what else I have to show you. What I use: Elzybells Art Stamps Snoozing Ted, Stampin' Up! Thoughts of Father Whisper White, Going Grey, Basic Grey, Only Orange, Rose Red, Brilliant Blue card stock My Mind's Eye designer paper Basic Black, Only Orange classic stamp pads Nesties sponge Make sure you check out what Elizabeth and the rest of the design team have done: Angel Riveria Charlene Austin Elizabeth Frances Byrne Jeanne Streiff Kim Fee Maria Adams Michelle Short Paula Williamson Rachel Hope Baird Stephanie Mayne ...

ever after...

I know it has been awhile again since I posted but I am almost done with my Artisan Award projects and hope to go postal with them this weekend. Decided to take a break from that and household drudgery and play with todays sketch challenge and yesterdays color challenge from SplitCoastStampers. I have had this stamp set, Ever After, for a while now, I bought it to make some wedding cards but haven't had time to play with it before today. I thought it would work nicely with the Pirouette Pink, Riding Hood Red and Chocolate Chip color combination. Nothing very fancy or different on this card though I did sponge the edges of everything with chocolate chip ink. On the background I used one of the Stampin' Up! texture plates and sponged the texture a little bit to make it stand out more. The heart of the main image is inked with riding hood red classic ink then I ran a chocolate chip marker around the end before I stamped. What I used: Ever After stamp set Romance wheel Choco...

warm cuddles...

The sun is shining and I stamped. How much better can life get? At this time of year especial with the kids home from school this week for mid winter break it doesn't get much better then that. I whipped out this card this afternoon, (yes, naptime) for this mornings color challenge over on SplitCoastStampers. Todays challenge is to use More Mustard, Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss. I combined that with the Mojo Monday sketch challenge to come up with this card very quickly. What I used: Elzybell Art Stamps; From me to ewe Basic Black, Whisper White, Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss card stock SU Urban Garden designer paper Basic Black, More Mustard, Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss, Going Grey classic ink pads large and wide oval punches satin kiwi kiss ribbon sponges

fresh cuts...

The colors of the day are Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Kraft from the color challenge over on SplitCoastStampers. I combined the color challenge with the Mojo Monday sketch challenge and this is what I came up with. Nothing fancy on this just a couple of little fussy details. I stamped the main image with NQN classic ink on kraft card stock then added a little baja breeze ink with an aquapainter and sponged around the edges. I added some color to the leaves with a mellow moss Stampin' Write marker. I made the scalloped edge on the circle (which was cut with my coluzzle) with a small corner punch, then pierced with a piercing tool. What I used: Fresh Cuts stamp set Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Kraft card stock Urban Garden designer paper Not Quite Navy and Baja Breeze classic stamp pads wide stitched baja breeze grosgrain ribbon mat pack and piercing tool Build-a-Brad 1/2 circle punch, small corner rounder coluzzle cutting system sponge

Just a really quick card this morning before I head out to get some of my Christmas shopping done. It is missing something but my caffeine hasn't kicked in yet so please forgive me. What I used: a cardinal christmas basic black, real red, kraft card stock black stazon, real red classic stamp pads various re-inkers for watercoloring real red narrow grosgrain ribbon

I know, I know, I haven't posted in nearly two weeks. My life is chaos. We have filed our adoption petition with the courts for Ellie's adoption but do not yet have a court date. My Christmas cards are not finished yet and my 15 year old son is driving me crazy. None of these are good for getting my stamping mojo going. But todays color challenge over on SplitCoastStampers was just to good to not try. What do you think? The snow is highlighted with a white gel pen and a glitter pen. The cuttlebugged background has whisper white ink sponged over the snowflakes to make them stand out. The main image is watercolored with certainly celery, pacific point and basic gray classic ink. What I used: stamp by Elzybell basic gray, whisper white, certainly celery, pacific point card stock certainly celery designer prints paper basic black, basic gray, certainly celery, pacific point classic ink whisper white craft ink snowflake cuttlebug embossing folder white gel pen, glitter pen p...

season of friendship

Image
I rarely do square cards but sometime the image is of a size that ya just gotta go for it. I had to do a fall card today because here in Central New York it is feeling a little fallish. There is a chill in the air, leaves are starting to turn and football season is well underway. Time to go pick apples and pumpkins and stop by the nursery to pick up some gorgeous fall mums . Don't you think? Nothing really tricky on this card. The only thing that I did that may not be apparent at first glance is that I rock & rolled the leaves. What does that mean? All I did was ink the leaf stamp with really rust then rolled the leaf stamp edges of the chocolate chip stamp pad. Clear as mud? What I used: Season of Friendship stamp set Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Whisper White card stock Autumn Vine designer paper Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Really Rust classic stamp pads Alpine ribbon originals slot punch, corner rounder mat pack and paper piercer sponge

ya gotta love cupcakes...

Image
Everybody loves cupcakes right? Well the frosting anyway... When I saw this cupcake stamp in the new catalog I knew I had to have it. Not my usual style but I do have 5 kids so there for they are invited to about a million birthday parties every year. This stamp set is intended to be a thank you card and I am sure I will use it that way sooner or late but today I put masking tape over the words when I inked the stamp then removed it when I stamped so that I could omit the words. The cupcake is paper pieced. I stamped the cupcake (or parts of it anyway) 2 times. Once on blush blossom, once on close to cocoa and one on ruby red. After I cut out the bottom of the cupcake I ran it through my rarely used (but very handy) paper crimper, I then sponged a little close to cocoa over the ridges to make them stand out a little more. The frosting part of the cupcake has dots on it that I highlighted with a ruby red marker, then a versamark pen then added iridescent ice embossing powder to...

do ya wanna see some new stuff?

Image
I have come up with every excuse know to man to not stamp since I got back from convention. No idea what my problem is, overwhelmed I guess. Updated my customer list, tweaked both my blog and my website, did a mailing, called a bunch of my customers, shopped for back to school supplies, everything but stamp. Heck I even cleaned the cat boxes today before I stamped and I had promised myself that I would except no more excuses, I would get back to it today! My sore throat from nasty allergies and my daughter's upset tummy seemed like good excuses to but no I had to do it. Thankfully todays color challenge on SplitCoastStampers was exactly the inspiration I needed. With todays colors I could finally make the card I had envisioned when I first saw this stamp set at convention. I may even make another one later today since when I stamped this I also did a similar panel of second generation stamping (stamped a second time without re-inking) identical to this one. It is very soft...

I really, really like this stamp set. This color combination (from todays color challenge) was a little difficult but I think I made it work. What do you think?
