A Couple of Special Wedding Cards

At the start of the month my nephew got married and I really wanted to make him and his lovely bride a very special card. The bridesmaids were wearing lavender so that a place to start. And then I saw the second card in THIS post by Dena from Dena's Stamping Corner - and just knew it was the card I wanted to CASE. Dena is an amazingly talented crafter - and a lovely lady to boot - so make sure you pop in and say hi and check out her AMAZING eye candy! Thanx soo much for the inspiration Dena.

My image is from Lily of the Valley and the textured background paper is by Cristina Re.

The bride and groom...Congratulations Simon and Beth
Me and the kids - unfortunately DH was away on a business trip and my son Toby has a thing about having his picture taken!!!

A week later my TPS and MDUC teamie Fran got married and this is the card I made for her and her handsome groom.

I knew I wanted to start with Marie Antoinette from Kraftin' Kimmi because Fran had mentioned that HER dress was similar - now all I needed was a groom. I decided on Kraftin' Kimmie's dapper dude Chester - which the gorgeous Kellie from Tickled Pink Stamps ordered in especially for me - luckily I gave her PLENTY of notice - and don't they make a FABULOUS couple!!!! The happy couple have gorgeous twin boys and I just couldn't leave them out - so I used Owie from CC Designs and stamped him twice - even though Fran's boys aren't identical twins I figured she'd forgive me for making them appear to be. I popped "Dallas" and "Levi" on the inside of the card all ready to pop out and say BOO.

Wishing Simon and Beth - AND - Fran and Glenn all the VERY best for a long and happy life together!

Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge #30 - How Charming

I'd like yo introduce you to the wickedly cute Pure Poison from Kraftin' Kimmie. Kellie has just got her instore at Tickled Pink Stamps and I just couldn't wait to colour her up after she landed in my mail box! Now I'd like to hope she was whipping up a love potion - but who knows! That deliciously sinister smile could be holding onto all sorts of secrets - LOL.

I thought I'd add one of my fabulous pirate charms so that I could enter this into this week's Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge - How Charming! The DP is Pirate Princess by Rusty Pickle and the ivy stamp is from SU. The charm and the rhinestone flourish are also from Tickled Pink Stamps.

The colours don't quite pop here like they do IRL - but then my camera is on the fritz so I'm lucky that I can take any pics! Am trying to figure out whether to repair or replace! Wish me luck!!!

Queen For The Day - A Quirky Mother's Day Card

I recently got this FABULOUS Kraftin' Kimmie Queen stamp from Kellie at Tickled Pink Stamps. I thought she'd make a fun and quirky Mother's Day card for my mum. My mum is not the tradional "vase of roses" gal and I think this will suit her to a "T"! I figure Mother's Day is the perfect day to give her time off from cleaning the castle and for making her feel like a queen - LOL.

Kellie also challenged us to use buttons with our creations this week - can you see the 3 on here??? I decided I didn't have any buttons in my vast stash that would be regal enough - so I popped some plain white ones on and covered the holes with pearls. The flowers also came from Tickled Pink Stamps Store and the DP is from Webster's.

I've also used my Spica pens on her - she has a very slight shimmer all over her veil - and more shimmer on the gold trim of her crown. My mum isn't into a lots of frills and fuss so I didn't want to glam her up too much - LOL.

LOVE YA MUM!

A Family Portrait ...Of Sorts!

I'm not quite sure who's family this is but I kinda like 'em. Today I have a card for you that originated from a challenge one of our newest Magnolia Down Under DT members set for the rest of the DT. The lovely Kylie set us a challenge to use MASKING! Of course she set this because she knew our wonderful Boss Lady Kellie has never used this technique - way to get in good with Da Boss Lady - LOL. Kellie added to our challenge by asking us to use stamps from different companies - can you guess why????????

I ended up using these stamps -
Baby Buds - Owie
Magnolia - Background
Kraftin' Kimmie - Charlotte and Doll

After I had worked out what stamps to use I had to work out how to present them! I had some faux wood I'd made for a previous challenge left over so the "portrait" idea evolved - the faux wood tutorial I used is HERE. I've actually raised the "frame" up on dimensionals to give the card some more texture - I must admit to missing "popping" up my characters! I must also admit it took me FIVE attempts to get them almost right - I forgot to mask one set, I didn't line the background up properly on another, a stamp smudged etc, etc, etc!!

I ended up using the FIRST one I stamped out - typical!!! The problem with this one was some ink got on the edge of my tree stamp and left some nasty black marks sitting up in the "sky"- soooooo - after all those attempts out came my paper snips and I cut the whole lot out and glued it onto some speckled blue DP - LOL.

The fabulous leaves and flowers I got from Magnolia Down Under and my personalised stamp, also from Magnolia Down Under, finish off my card!

I THINK I had fun - LOL - Thanx Kylie and Kellie for the challenge!
