The Wizard of Oz - Mo Style

Edit - thanx for the advice guys - I've decided I WILL paint the frame white - I'll show you how it comes up when it's done!

I've been working on this for a few days - and I think I'm finally done! I wanted to create a scene using the four friends from The Wizard of Oz - it started as a card but got waaaayy too big - so I ended up using a shadow box frame. I'm just trying to decide whether to paint the frame or not - I'm SUCH a messy painter - but I think it would look nice in a crisp white?!?!?!?! ALL of the fabulous images are from Mo Manning and have been "popped" up at different levels to give it a 3D effect.

Apologies for the pictures - I couldn't stop the glare from the glass!

I made this for my 9yo niece who's having trouble with bullying at school - it's got soo bad she's had to change schools and is upset at leaving some of her friends behind. So I figured this little scene about friends coming in all shapes and sizes, and with all sorts of weaknesses to overcome - might just pop a smile on her face!

Just as I was about to post it I saw the current challenge over at Mad for Markers is "Anything But A Card" - I think this fits the bill and all my images were coloured in Copics, so I'm going to enter it there!!

All of these images are available in Mo's store, just click on their names for a direct link - Kansas (Dorothy and Toto), Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man

This One's A Bit Bright!

This is unheard of for ME - I've managed to fit 3 challenges into one small card - woohooo! But apologies if you feel the need to pop on your sunglasses - LOL. I was lucky enough to stamp this cutie off when I had the TPS girls over - thanx Kristy! She is just sooo adorable! I think she looks like she's holidaying on some tropical isle - just where I'd like to be as we head into Winter here in Oz! I've cut her floral headband out and popped it up for some extra fun! And if the sun were shining here - you'd see how much this sparkled!

Now onto the challenges I'm entering...

The wonderful new look Anya Ink asked for an easel card - tick (I love easels - LOL)
The Pink Elephant ask that you use the colour orange - tick  ( I actually love the colour orange but I know lots of people don't - poor orange!!!)
Mad for Markers ask you use feathering - tick (I used copics Y00 and YR00 for her dress and flowers - and thanx for the tutorial - it's such a fun technique)

The DP was from Kristy's Delicious Papercrafting store - if she doesn't have papers you'll LOVE you are just toooo darn fussy - LOL. This one is from October Afternoon's Thrift Shop, the 8x8 pad. I computer generated the sentiment - and my son and I were trying to remember the words to this song all morning - it wasn't very pretty for anyone's ears - LOL

Sammi's Challenge - Using Shades of the One Colour

I recently received an email from the lovely Sammi from Mad for Markers. She asked if I would be a guest designer for her next blog challenge - to use shades of the same colour, ie a monochromatic colour scheme. I love any opportunity to play so of course I said YES - the housework can wait - AGAIN - LOL!

As you can see I decided to use sepia tonings and create a vintage style look. Using the cracked glass technique on my image just added more texture and interest. I must admit to having a problem or 2 "cracking" these guys - I popped them in the freezer and forgot about them - OOPS! When I cracked the image several hours later parts of the embossing lifted right off the paper - aaagh. After doing this TWICE - I'm such a ditz at times and get distracted easily - I discovered some hints! DO NOT reheat the embossing from the top - it can push the parts that have started melting away as the other parts are still hard!!!! DO heat from UNDERNEATH the image - you get a much better re-melt!

I've used the following Copic colours and paper - all available from Sammi's store - Mad for Markers!

Thanx for having me Sammi.

Face - E000, E00, E02, R20
Hair & Clothes - E11, E31, E33, E34, E35, E43, E47, E49, E51, E55, E57
Paper - Neenah

Mad 4 Markers Challenge #1 & Totally Gorjuss Challenge #25

Sammi has started off her Mad 4 Markers Challenges with a beauty - to use Copic colours E00, R20 and BG15 in your creation. Now if you don't have those colours you can still enter if you use the closest colours you have - she has a fabulous prize on offer but the challenge finishes soon!!!

I used one of my poor neglected Gorjuss Girls stamps and a fairly simple layout - the teal has enough impact without too much fuss, but it's absolutely gorgeous paired with pinks - a combo I don't think I would have used without this challenge. Can you guess where the DP is from - yup one of my fabulous Basic Grey paper pads - Porcelain.

Since I've used my Swiss Dots embossing folder on the background I'm also going to enter this in the Totally Gorjuss Challenge #25 - Texture.

Skin - E00, E02, R20
Hair - E57, E55, E31
Eyeshadow - E11
Dress and boots- BG15, BG49
Apron and Stockings - R20, R00, C1
