QUADRILLE, Veranda

Quadrille
Always a fan of John Knott and Quadrille , here is "Arbre de Matisse", one of my (also) favorite designs, made famous by Billy Baldwin... as well, I was most inspired by the new issue of Veranda, featuring the home of Lou Marotta, in West Palm Beach, adjacent to the Kips Bay decorator show house I had recently visited and posted about-  enjoy!  DF *****

CHIC NOW: Alan Campbell

Alan Campbell through MP Interiors
I've always been a huge fan of Alan Campbell, China Seas, and Quadrille....and especially am fond of this "Mojave" wallpaper.  One of my professors at FIT was Albino Cimonetti, who, along with Harry Hinson, Jay Hyde Crawford, and Anthony Tortora founded Quadrille Fabrics.

Sister Parish and Albert Hadley promoted Alan when he was first starting out, experimenting with batiks and tie dyes, which he used to make in his bath tub!  Follow him on Instagram!  DF *****

Porcelainmania

Andrew Martin Wall paper, MP Interiors

We recently installed this new blue and white porcelain inspired wall covering from Andrew Martin~ which also comes in a beige background- the one shown above is called Cargo blue-grey #CG02, 10 meter rolls, made in England.  This is what I used for my lacca povera entry door~ (see recent posts on the transformation of a banal door into something totally fabulous!) And, here I am again looking like a young Gary Cooper~ 22 years ago!

Dean in 1992
How amusing~ that I had completely forgotten about this old (1992) image of moi looking like a Chinese porcelain addict (which I was, and am) in that to die for RL silk shirting~and of course, I'm holding a paper Dixie cup of "sweet tea" since this was from when I was decorating a large-ish house in Greenville, SC for old clients there. Enjoy! DF *****

Rococo Romance in a 16th Century Chateau

Chateau de Talcy
I'm most intrigued, and enchanted by, this beautiful room in the Loire Valley, near Blois, in the Chateau de Talcy.    While the house itself dates from around 1520, the interiors were done up in the 18th, and have been preserved as a monument of France- the house is open for tours and sees about 20,000 visitors a year.  If you've read some of my previous posts on decorating, you know that I'm fatally partial to the style known as Rococo, aka Louis XV.  Every night, while sleeping, this is what I dream of.

Salle a manger, Chateau de Talcy

Above, check out the absolutely stunning wall paper- and that floor! Not to mention those deliciously milky looking beams.  Pure perfection.  I also am admiring the soft stamped velvet on the chaises, how the colour works with the elegant turquoise ground of the walls.  Divine!  Chateau de Talcy, 18 rue du Chateau 41370 Talcy, FR  Enjoy!  DF *****

Zebra on Grasscloth, Scalamandre'

I love these new wallcoverings from designer resource, Scalamandre' - and wanted to share them with you and my many clients across the country. If you recall the old Gino's restaurant on Lexington Avenue, from many years ago, you may recognize these iconic and charming prancing zebras. Enjoy! DF *****

Le Papier Peint Pour Madame Marie

Mary and I found this CHARMING wallpaper, from THIBAUT, for her master bath - it reminds me of the Billy Baldwin selected print chez Diana Vreeland...in a much lighter palette. I put these other samples together for her to consider for her new balloon shade, shirred dressing table, boudoir chair, and duvet...and I gifted her the paper, as she is a very good friend, and a fun person to know. ENJOY! DF *****

Classic Trellis Wallpaper

If you know about Elsie and the Colony club, Palm Beach, and classics of trad decor, then you know about treillage or trellis patterned walls and wall coverings. I like this paper from Chuck Fischer... available in many colorways, I like it for halls, breakfast rooms, and kitchens. My mother had her entire kitchen and breakfast room done in this, and it made a spectacular garden like setting that we enjoyed for years. Check out Schumacher and Brunschwig et Fils for more charming versions. Enjoy the day! DF *****
